  1. He'll need a beefier system than the one in his sig to play the newer releases, but he's definitely welcome back!
  2. This I like
  3. UCG has much lower system requirements than UC AWA UCG is the gold edition of UC, and has the fixes features and improvents made in UC- plus some graphical enhancements UCAWA is the sequel to UC and is far superior to UCG in many ways. That clear enough?
  4. *subtly hands Cruis. In a hastily scribbled note* use your DIE
  5. Yeah, you've got to hand it to those guys who have lower member numbers than SC
  6. Excellent news, Nick! I was considering whether I should be deleting you from the fleet database, but I'm glad that will no longer be necessary. Grab yourself the latest UC patch (and order AWA if you want to be part of the next generation of league play- it's currently unclear when that will officially start) and we can start you on some training sessions, when you tell us when you're available. Your security clearance is still valid, we'll decide about a title for you after you're a little more trained up.
  7. No problems for me either. Sure you didn't change some graphics options somewhere?
  8. It wasn't even the power supply, it was a mechanical failure in the power button, so they just glued it back in and I'm ready to go!
  9. It┬┤s still under guarantee (the whole system is) I get a tech guy to come out and fix it within 3 working days as part of the customer support service, so it┬┤s more of a minor annoyance than anzthing else. I just hope it can be fixed quickly, and it didn┬┤t wipe any other components out on it┬┤s way down.
  10. My power supply went and died on me while I was talking to Marc yesterday (had to happen on a Friday evening, didn┬┤t it), so I┬┤m going to be out of the loop for a few days (am writing this on my wife┬┤s Linux system)
  11. I think you'll be pleasantly suprised with what we've done with the fleet, though I'm sure you'll be able to make a significant contribution in those areas where we are still lacking. Welcome back, sir! *Arranges guard of honour to welcome back former fleet commander*
  12. Well, with this thread here, maybe less people will get caught out. Is there some way to set a particular lobby (e.g. the AWA lobby) as default?
  13. Fair, balanced and helpful for those not in the know. Why can't all reviewers write like this?
  14. OK, uninstall/reinstall did solve the DLL issues, but I still can't see any servers in the lobby. How exactly did you "put GCQ to the right lobby", if you'll excuse my total incompetence?
  15. No, no difference. Uninstalled/reinstalled both, no change- annoying. Doesn't matter that much, as we can still start the game using the Join server shortcut.
  16. I don't think that's likely to happen.
  17. Hmmm. The path variable is not present in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWARE3000adUniversal Combat A World Apart]. I'll try uninstalling and reinstalling, but talking to Jack on Teamspeak, he doesn't have that variable in his registry either. Anyone else?
  18. Problem: Planetary regions in MP are unpopulated, and the game slows down by a factor of 8-9 when located on a planetÔÇÖs surface/ observing a planet in Tacops in MP. Eclipse has also confirmed this issue in a PM exchange we had. To reproduce (method 1): start new MP game as ter/mil Mobile Infantry Marine, from the default launch base. When you deploy, you are in an empty region, no models are visible, not even your AEÔÇÖs model, and your location is given as Procon/None/None. In addition, gameplay is very slow and jerky, all linked sound effects (for example rapid fire shots with the GPMG machine gun) are played with much bigger gaps between them than normal, the FP hud clock runs much slower (one second on the FP clock takes about 8-9 seconds on my machine) and button presses/mouse clicks react very sluggishly. If you enter tacops and zoom out to the whole planet view, no zones of interest are displayed Method 2: Start new MP game as ter/mil commander from Procon. Acess Tacops (Alt-S) Zoom into the planet and select observe. No zones of interest are displayed in the whole planet view, and the game clock slows down greatly again (by a factor of around 7 on my machine). I get the same results as method 2 when running a graphics mode server on my machine, zooming into a planet and observing it.
  19. I have never seen any servers visible via the lobby, even when they are visible in the in-game browser. I mentioned this to Eclipse, and he says he hasnÔÇÖt seen any servers in the lobby either. I tried running my own local server, and at the end of the startup sequence I received the following messages: Server (10.100.14.13:2304) MP0000 Init Succeeded GameCQ: Could not load the GCQInterface DLL This message appears in both console mode and graphics mode.
  20. I still have mine on the wall next to my monitor. Very nice it looks, too
  21. When I was really young I was afraid of dogs (one unintentionally knocked me down hard when I was 5 or something) to help me get over my fear we got a golden retriever, who lived to 18 (way off the scale when it comes to golden retrievers). She was my closest friend and confidante and saw me through my entire childhood until I met my wife. She's now buried in the small wood by my parent's house (which they own of course) with a view of the mountains on the Scottish border, right next to her daughter, who she outlived by 6 years. We could all see it coming when it came to the end, but it was still a very sad day when she went. My condolences, Jag.
  22. The manual was ready later than the game, so some people will be getting them seperately, and BCM came free with the first 300 orders, according to the BMT micro site, even though we didn't order it specifically. I'm in the same situation, but at least we have the pdf docs to refer to in the meantime.
  23. It was just shifted to the next-gen Xbox.
