  1. OK, then he should get the password from Firestar or Wolfheart and can rejoin the team (just the once this time I hope )
  2. CMD-BLACK is no longer in the team, and I have set a joining password, which I am PM'ing to you, Firestar. Please pass it on to the other members of Earthcom. The official servers are up (I was having some problems finding them, but they are there now, and I have just logged in to server 2)
  3. so who is CMD-BLACK and why is he in S.C.I.D. twice? S.C.I.D. team. If he is not supposed to be there then I will remove him completely.
  4. [rp] Ben turned to face the enthusiastic greeting from a voice that was somehow familiar. Matching the face to the voice made the connection click. Ah yes, of course, Prime fleet's public relations officer. "Well thank you, Commander Grayson. It was a lot of work, yes, but well worth it, I'm sure you agree. Finding decent Gammulan and Valkerie chefs with clean security backgrounds was a real chore, I can tell you. What would you like to know?" [/rp]
  5. Glad to hear that. You take it easy (as much as you can under the circunmstances)
  6. OK, the new season is here. This thread will be for organising all team training sessions and match availability. Current members of Team Praetorian: Ben Zwycky (team leader) Marc Wubbema (team vice leader) Jack Decker Prez Please post your general availability times (or as far into the future as you know) Be aware that daylight saving time comes into effect next Sunday, so your availability GMT is sure to change then. I am available from 6-8pm GMT any day except for Monday and Thursday, from Sunday onwards it'll be from 7-9pm GMT. I'm usually available at other times as well, but not predictably or reliably. Chime in guys!
  7. [rp] "Well, if you think that'll help. Sorry I can't join you in a beer, teetotal since birth, but I'll have a pineapple juice to wet my whistle." The two chatted about the general situation in galcom and their families back home, and time passed quickly. The match build up on the screen came to a crescendo and the two stood and marched side by side throughn the south passage like two great gladiatorial heroes into the great circus, amid cheers of approval from various locations in the food court. Five minutes later, they were in their cubicles and 'deployed' in their chosen craft. They jumped to the Castrin arena and Remo made the first move. Then followed a flurry of laser bolts, missiles, tight turn and rolls resulting in slight damage to both fighter craft, but no decisive winner, and the two warriors disengaged. Then it was Ben's turn to charge in for another barrage of gunfire and spectacular manoeuvres that kept the audience in rapt attention before another disengagement. Ben then threw a little ploy and Remo took a chance but misjudged his jump, leaving him at the mercy of Ben's guns, which customarily showed none. This caused triumphant cheers and celebratory chants to erupt from the ISS contingent of the audience. Both contestants shook hands after the contest and both were heartily applauded by all present. It had been a worthy display to inaugurate the new fleet season. [/rp]
  8. OK, my duel with Remo is in about 40 minutes (6:30pm GMT). Anyone else wanting to challenge me can do so today until 8pm GMT (3pm Central Daylight time).
  9. A full description of the plaza can be found here and it will be used as the roleplaying background for friendly fleet matches (i.e. no one can get killed, because it's all played out on the sports deck simulator) [/rp] Tacops Commander Remo Williams' imposing presence created a stir as he stepped through the east entrance to the food court, where he was enthusiastically greeted by Strategic Commander Zwycky. "Welcome aboard, Remo! Glad you could make it. The Fighter duel scenario is set up as you sopecified, listed under 'Fighter duel gamma'. Our sectioon of the sports deck is being cleared and sweeped as we speak , and I'll meet you there in two hours. In the meantime, feel free to to take in the sights. You can head there early if you like to accustom yourself to the interface, but there's not much to learn. Just put on the suit, choose your scenario, then choose your fighter craft as you would from Miscon and deploy. From then on, it's just like the real thing, only no-one get's hurt. There'll be a few people following the action," Ben added, indicating the gathering crowd watching the pre-match build-up on one of the big screens. "Good luck to you." Ben concluded, extending his hand. [/rp]
  10. I thought you weren't supposed to specify the craft type in the duel scenario?
  11. The Perfect Husband Several men are in the locker room of a golf club. A cell phone on a bench rings and a man engages the hands free speaker-function and begins to talk. Everyone else in the room stops to listen. MAN: "Hello" WOMAN: "Honey, it's me. Are you at the club?" MAN: "Yes" WOMAN: "I am at the mall now and found this beautiful leather coat. It's only $1,000. Is it OK if I buy it?" MAN: "Sure, ..go ahead if you like it that much." WOMAN: "I also stopped by the Mercedes dealership and saw the new 2005 models. I saw one I really liked." MAN: "How much?" WOMAN: "$60,000" MAN: "OK, but for that price I want it with all the options." WOMAN: "Great! Oh, and one more thing .... The house we wanted lastyear is back on the market. They're asking $950,000" MAN: "Well, then go ahead and give them an offer, but just offer 900,000." WOMAN: "OK. I'll see you later! I love you!" MAN: "Bye, I love you, too." The man hangs up. The other men in the locker room are looking at him in astonishment. Then he asks: "Anyone know who this phone belongs to?"

  13. The best part was overcoming the problem of how to get the zodiac off the planet. It's only found on naval bases or the starbase on Majoris, but the Zodiac's conventional engines are too weak to escape the gravitational pull of earth or Majoris (it can't reach the required altitude). So I went down to the naval base on Earth, landed on the carrier, exited and got into the shuttle on the carrier, then grabbed the zodiac on the same carrier with my tractor beam and left the planet. I now have my zodiac in space, but I still can't use it because I can't exit the shuttle in space because I'm an EFP and don't have a space suit. I then flew to the Moon, landed, got out of the shuttle and into my lovely new craft, which was able to escape the much weaker local gravitational pull with ease. All that remained was to dock with galcom HQ and change all my ATS and ATA missiles for STS ones and I was ready to go a huntin'. Conventional methods? What are they?
  14. quote: Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: The campaign locks the type of craft you can use. So, uhm, how were you able to change it? I didn't change it, just a simple matter of going down to a planet, visiting your local showroom (base) exiting your craft and entering your craft of choice (though it's a bit more complex to get hold of a zodiac) I guess it must have been the repair times, I got fooled by the 'instant' repairs you get when you click the repair button when in a station/MFB.
  15. I was hoping it was a little better than that . I destroyed the vast majority of the scripted targets myself (though I could probably have done a little better if I tried the same mission a few times) and went flattening hostile planetary bases during mission downtime. Running out of missiles wasn't really a problem, running out of reactor charge was (I went and grabbed a zodiac early on in the campaign for its faster hyperdrive, which probably made it run out of charge faster than an IC mk1, being a light rather than heavy fighter). Docking with stations wasn't annoying, but I found that if I timed my repairs wrong, docking with a station or MFB 1 minute into the mission rather than 1 minute before mission start, then when I redeploy the mission would be over. This only seemed to happen in TOD's 2 and 3, but I'd have to go back and run them again to make sure which missions it was happening in. Is that deliberate, or is that something I should look into more closely? I also noticed some formatting errors in some of the scripted messages in commlink (individual words spread across several lines). You want a list of those?
  16. Finished the EFP campaign (I've been busy with fleet stuff recently). It wasn't a perfect performance (two of the transports were lost) but pretty good overall I think. I found the invincibility tags on some of the scripted characters a little annoying (especially with the station and the cloaked carrier on the first planet), but a very fun experience overall. My report card: Rank: Commander EP: 153900 medals: 1 x Star of Merit 1 x Commander's Shield 2 x Planetary Shield 1 x Order of the Wraith 2 x Combat Shield
  17. The first duel challenge was supposed to be on Sunday, but was postponed to next Sunday because of connection problems. I seem to remember Remo saying he was going to be issuing team challenges this week, but I can't remember where he said that, and I'm not so sure now.
  18. Just skimmed through it now, noticed a few minor grammatical errors, but got a good impression overall, in tune with the spirit of Orion. I'm really busy right now (proof-reading some scientific publications, doing a more detailed description of the recreation plaza and working on a draft of our charter) but if I have some time later today or tomorrow I'll go through it more thoroughly and let you know what I find.
  19. Oh, I thought it was starting this month
  20. This is best read aloud Hear the approach of the marching drums. With each beat, the enemy is closer. With each beat, your pulses rise. With each beat, your side becomes united. With each beat, your courage grows. With each beat, your forces are advancing. With each beat, the battle lines are drawn. With each beat, your targets become clearer. With each beat, no more room for fear. With each beat, with each beat, with each beat... They stop. Now is the calm before the storm, the silence before the thunder of battle begins. Every soldier is straining at the leash, waiting for the order to come... It is coming... The 3000AD Fleet League Carnage awaits.
  21. OK, when should we reschedule our duel for, Remo? Same time next Sunday?
  22. Back Someone at our ISP accidentally remotely changed our connection settings to a non-existant account, cutting us off. [rp] Are there no limits to these Insurgent infestations? [/rp]
  23. If you like, but it might last a long time (those things are really hard to hit in mp without PTA) Challenge accepted.
  24. There are no public UC servers. (there haven't been for a while). They were all switched over to AWA (and UCG when it's out). THe tacops screen you saw was the server you were running on your machine for other people to connect to (or for you to connect to on the same machine if it's powerful enough)
