  1. Not sure about a community but you can start here. This is the links page that Derek has on the main BC page. Near the bottom it has tons of links to dev sites and what not (3D Modeling sites included.) Good luck!
  2. Sure you could! You just can't get caught, thats all. By day, I am an IS Professional who walks around the office stealing peoples computers and breaking them. By lunch time I am a battlecruiser commander who doesn't give a damn about anything else but whether or not I'll be able to complete my mission by end of lunch hour. :-)
  3. Ok. So it's basically an "extra" type thing for more of an immersion factor?
  4. Does anyone recall a while back that the SC posted about a game a colleague of his was designing. It was only in beta, but I remember I played it and liked it and I wanted to check up on how that game was coming along. For the life of me I cannot remember the name of the game though. Anyone out there remember this?
  5. Falstaff, not trying to have a go at you or anything, but the SC *never* said it wouldn't be released. He said he needed to be convinced that it was ok to release it and that the boards wouldn't be flooded with tech help. If you *really* want it that bad my suggestion to you would be to prove to the SC you are responsible enough to use it, and not come back complaining when it gets screwed up. I'm not by any means saying that he'll give it to you, but thats where'd I start if I were you.
  6. quote:Originally posted by Sir John Falstaff: If you guys are worried about the flood of questions from people who screw up their environment and can't fix it themselves then do something like this.... "Warning, this program will screw up your game if you don't use it right. It is unsupported. Your feeble questions about this program will be deleted on sight. Continuous questions about this program will result in Banning. Do not use this program unless you are willing to lose your saved games and have to reinstall BC. Do not come crying to us if you lose your saved games or have to reinstall BC. Do not be a stupid git. Do not have a low i.q. Do not drool on the floor. Do not whine. Do not moan. Don't make us come over there. Consider yourself damn lucky that we even put this file online for you and feel privaliged you simpering fool. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED" After you put that above the file.. In fact, as a disclaimer page before getting to the file, where you have to click on "yes, I agree to the terms and conditions" to get to the file... You will have a flood of morons that geeb up their games that you can just delete--or ban if they get persistant-- Puhleze don't decide to not put GBSII out. Please, please, please, please. Falstaff, have you ever read the document that is located here? It says about the message forums what you are saying about the GBS. The problem? It rarely if ever stops people from coming to the board and doing things that, that document specifically tells them NOT TO DO. 'Nuff said.
  7. What would be the point of having something like this exactly? I'm just curious...
  8. Another thing you can try is hopping around your computer in a counter clockwise direction, on your right leg, with your hand in your left pocket, with your left eye closed, while singing the theme song from Gilligan's Island..... Folks, there is no "trick" to making this game work. You follow the install instructions to the letter, you make sure you meet the min reqs, and it goes!
  9. quote:I had my antivirus software off each time I installed, and I closed everything that I could, but that didn't help. I also cleaned out my temp directories, but that didn't help, either. He said he turned his anti-virus software off. Besides, there really isn't a problem here from what I've read. With all due respect, he needs to RTFM a little bit closer....
  10. I've been thinking though (and discussing with friends) about the spiritual elements that are prevalent in the Matrix. I mean, I'm not gonna get all relgious here, but it is UNDENIABLE that the writers intended to have a spiritual sense in this movie. Obviously, the names of people and places (Zion, Neo, Trinity, The Oracle) all have biblical conotations. It goes beyond that though. Neo is able to start doing "Matrix things" when he stops doubting that he can. This is very similiar to: /bible on When Peter "walked" on water for a few moments and when he realized it was impossible he sank. /bible off My point is, I'm not so sure that it's so much about different "levels" of the Matrix as it is about levels of awareness. I.E. Humans realize that anything is possible if you put your mind to it (obtain omnipotence) and this makes them "godlike." I think it's awesome how they are developing this story on a physical and spiritual level at the same time. Very good work on their part. I can't wait to see the 3rd movie because in my opinion that is when things are really going to get started. The first two movies really just set the stage for the finale.
  11. I was so entrhalled by the special effects that I didn't even consider that until the second time I saw it. But that does seem to make sense. I mean, if it turns out that Neo now has his "Matrix powers" in "real-life" I'm gonna be pissed, but if he is still in the Matrix it'll rock.
  12. It's not that. It's just, my BC3000AD CD is in a picture frame on my wall. I'm afraid I'd damage it trying to get it out.

(I think I just stole the SC's line....hrmm) Well, Duuuuhhhh.... quote:Is it possible to "tweak" existing craft in an unsupported aftermarket fashion? Have you ever bought an aftermarket product? Does the company support your item with an aftermarket product installed? Nooooo. Why should I expect SC to? I know it would be unsupported already. Hence the use of the term unsupported in the question. I guess I just don't communicate very well. Falstaff, I wish it would be a "Well Duhhhh" issue to everyone. Some people feel that if they go messing with the game files that they should be able to come here and get help to fix what they've done. It was merely an effort to warn folks as to prevent anyones time being wasted in the future.
  14. Damnnnn. I hope everything works out for Blades. My prayers are with you, bud.
  15. Hey Rattler! You may remember me from long ago. Obviously I'm not on your side of the battle lines, but I'd still like to say hello. :-)
  16. I'd like to reiterate Eclipse's statement. quote: NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR YOU DOING SOMETHING INTHERE THAT COMPLETELY TRASHES YOUR INSTALLATION OF BCM/BCMG If you try to make any changes to the game, and you screw it up, don't look for tech support. (I think I just stole the SC's line....hrmm)
  17. My suggestion is that you use the time alloted in between missions to make quick trade runs. IMHO, the purpose of the ACM is not to become rich but instead to carry out the missions. Therefore, it's obviously much easier to become rich in ROAM as your not held to a timeline necessarily. In any case, use the time in between missions wisely and you should be able to make plenty of cash to sustain yourself. And by the way, you spelled Campaign correctly. :-)
  18. I'm going to save this screenshot. This is exactly what I want my room to become. :-)
  19. While I am no good with numbers and stats I'd just like to toss in that one extremly large ship would be cool. Not that the ships aren't large now, but I mean, like something that is massive and CPU sucking. Honestly, I think I'm just looking for something that will bring my new computer to it's knees.
  20. I've never in my entire BC career (except maybe when FPS wasn't an option) have deployed and not been given a standard loadout.
  21. I don't think your ever a veteran or a noob really. I think your "status" as it were, flows with whatever your talking about. There is no way for anyone (Except the SC maybe) to know every inch of the game and everything about how it works. Therefore, at times, even someone who's been around a long time like myself and some of the other testers can be a newbie. But when you post and your registration date is before 2000 it does makes people think your really special and a veteran. :grins:
  22. I keep my music off. Immersive experience, yada, yada, yada. I loved the music though and I actually listen to it OUT of the game still via WinAmp..
  23. Good point, well I have an idea. Lets get the Floridian BC people together (I know there is just more than you and I), we can all get really drunk, pack ourselves in a car, pull up to his house in the middle of the night and...... :-) In any case, I get the feeling he played the game for all of about 5 minutes and then wrote a review. It's totally ridiculous.
  24. Not to shoot this off topic but, for all of the folks having this save game problem. I had that *exact* same problem and I fought tooth and nail with those trying to help me (including the SC occasionally) that it wasn't my computer that it was the game. At this point in my BC life, I've learned one undeniable thing. It's not the game. No matter how much you think it is. It isn't. It's a driver, or a setting, or something. BC3000AD is one of the most complex games I've ever seen and as such it requires your computer to be operating very efficently/stablely. It's the way computer games SHOULD be made. So don't lose heart, keep trying all the things everyone is suggesting. To help get back on topic, my "fix" for this issue was: A.)Video card drivers B.)Sound card drivers C.)Mouse drivers D.)BIOS Flash(Update) E.)Folks with VIA MOBs can make some changes in the bios as well. Go from 8X to 4X in the video aperture size and for the video memory thing go to half of your video cards available memory.
