quote:Originally posted by Gorgunzola: I looked up the assets.ini and items.ini as instructed and cross referenced the upgrade item numbers. According to those files, the Firestorm can equip all non-artifact upgrades, including Linear Spec IV and Titanium V. Still, the game refuses to let me install them. Are you attempting to install them while docked or not? Because upgrades cannot be started while docked. [ 12-12-2001: Message edited by: Tyrn ]

I mentioned earlier that I would work something out for those without web space that want to use the sig logos. Use one of the following urls: http://www.jmarcel.f2s.com/sog/images/wraith_logo.jpg http://www.jmarcel.f2s.com/sog/images/multi-wraith_logo.gif [ 12-12-2001: Message edited by: Tyrn ]

quote:Originally posted by Badgerius: Does anyone know what drives that? Is a friendly station more likely to help you than a neutral one? Does a station of your caste help? Does your launch point station treat you any differently than other stations? Yes, sort of all of it. It can also depend upon the AI of the station NPC and whether they're having a good day or not. The AI created for BCM are a rather pesky lot. Unless specifically limited, the danged thing does whatever it feels like. My favorite example was when we discovered that intruders were taking hostages and storing them in the cubby holes in the shuttles. Derek's basic response was "I never said they could do that! Give them an inch and they'll take the whole ship!" In short, if the station engineers won't work for you, redock and see if you're allotted a better crew.

quote:Originally posted by SailorX Network: In one game I've had me Nav and logic computes blown out. Now my ship in the station for repairs. But there is one problem people on the stations will not repace my computers for nav and log. I have them in my bays I have sat out side the station for 10 mins waiting for them to repair my computers. Is this should have a option where the stations techs replace things. Or make it so you can repair with out the logics computer. If anyone haves an anwser please tell me! A Station's crews are not always willing to repair a component and are often even less likely to replace a component, even if destroyed. Leave the station and dock again, see if you can convince them that you're really a nice guy next time.

quote:Originally posted by fallengod: i don't get how u trade in the game.... do u buy something and resell it.. if so what do u buy? Yes, buying and selling is commonly known as trading. Anything in the TradCom list tends to be both sellable and buyable and so tradable. Mining minerals is also a lucrative activity as is scavenging. As to specifics, RTM and search the forums. Welcome to BCM. Note, I keep seeing people without their system info linked. REGISTER and LINK YOUR SYS INFO people. [ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: Tyrn ]

quote:Originally posted by Gryphon: Um, I realise that the new patch will make it harder for shuttles to tow cruisers and all, but has anyone given any thought to assigning a shuttle to tow a shuttle that is towing a cruiser? If this is possible, it may be one exploit that needs patching up real quick This issue was addressed earlier in the beta program for different reasons.

I've heard a couple of people mention having to reboot multiple times to have BCM running in a stable environment. I know that I like to reboot and start out with a clean system but I sure don't understand those that have to reboot multiple times. I use the startup management tools Startup Control Panel and Startup Selector by Mike Lin to allow me to reboot once with my desired startup configuration. No need to shutdown ICQ, ZoneAlarm, F-Prot, Cerberus or the other host of programs that I have firing up each time I start. When I finish with BCM I just reload my normal start configuration and reboot. BTW, the best selling point of Mike's tools: they're free. NOTE: Do not post questions about your system configurations here. This is not a tech support thread. [ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: Tyrn ]

That was one of the fisrt sentence I heard while learning to play Squad Leader Wargame. But at the time, I had a wonderful glossary of all abreviations used in the rules. We don't have any in BCM. So I created mine while reading the manual. Of course, when I finished my glossaray I discovered that I do not need it anymore. But other newbie (like me) may get confused with the 132 abreviations used in the manual, and with the fact that a few one are used twice (MLS = main launch system & main life support) Its in CSV (; separated), 1 column is the abreviation (sorted), 2 column is its signification and 3rd column is the manual page I first found it. So enjoy ! [snip] NBF;Number of beers in the fridge;P69 [snip] Herring anyone? Great list U_E. FUBAR = f***** up beyond all repair see FUBAR [ 12-11-2001: Message edited by: Tyrn ]

quote:Originally posted by Saint19: Eagle, Thanx it all worked as advertised. I have another question. Is there a list of what each mineral is needed for? I already know about the Radine, and Iridium. But I see so many others around. I'm just curious. Thanx in advance. 19 Appendix T from the BC3K manual lists all the parts and minerals needed to repair any item. I do not believe that the list has changed from BC3K to BCM.

They show a lot of promise. [snip culling the herd...erm masses] Since these guys show such promise, I'm not sure we're going to get the mp fodder we were so looking forward to. I'll second that. I've had to start using a notebook just to write down all the crazed things I'm reading just so I try some of them out on my own. As to the MP fodder, only time will tell and even so I'm sure there will be plenty of fresh meat...I mean targets...oh you know what I mean. [ 12-10-2001: Message edited by: Tyrn ]

We've all had it, yes, even me (considering how much aggravation and beatings those b*astards gave me in the Beta forum). Ah, those were the days...what the? Get that jacket off me and I swear if you buckle my arms up again, I'll bite your knee caps off! Sorry about that, appears my crew thinks I need sleep.

Real trouble in getting those Cargo Pods!!
Tyrn replied to JAY's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
quote:Originally posted by ooJAYoo: Thankyou..... I new I hadnt missed somthing in the mystical Manual of life on BCM land.. Makes the Tractor Beam rather useless dont it if it cant even get Cargo pods.... BUT I could be wrong, we could be missing somthing here.... anybody know how to grab a CP with TB ? Apply ASAP, or send a post card. Shuttles were made to grab cargo, why waste the Radine to jump from pod to pod when you just issue a cargo sweep order to a shuttle and let your crew actually work! CC tractor beams are very useful for retrieving disabled support craft and given the up coming shuttle tweaks may be the only practical means of towing disabled CC's. -

Instead of launching into a long winded post, let me just say that my entry into the BC scene was none too pretty even with my lurking because I came in with a bit of a chip on my shoulder. I came in intending to prove something to the community here. I proved that I had done extensive research on the subject and that I could be a complete knucklehead. That road leads to bruises!
