Thats what I use Back when I was active in Active Worlds as Aule, I wrote the VirtualReality Time utility which is the basis for AW's time zone. Anway, it's a simple utility which allows one to easily convert from one time zone to another. It works so well that it was awarded Tool of the Day two days after it was released. Guess it's time to dust the code off, uncustomize it for AW and re-release it.

Welcome to the real world Cmdr. Black. As you're looking to join GALCOM (GCV and all) take a look at Wraith fleet (link below).

Oh, the horror, the sorrow, the terror, the joy, the relief, the need to see the Two Towers! Not since I first read the Fellowship 21 years ago have I felt such emotion for this beloved tale. I am emotionally exhausted. There were only three major disappointments. My biggest gripe is that I have to wait another year for The Two Towers and another year after that for The Return of the King. I miss Glorfindel, if you know the tale well you'll know what I mean. There is one specific line missing from the Prancing Pony (actually it's an entire scene). Evenso, move over Star Wars - this is the best movie I've ever seen.

Loned my copies out to my sister-in-law on Saturday. I'm somewhat envious of her, she's just discovering the terrors of Khazad-D├╗m, the peace of Rivendell and the glory of Lothl├│rien. Will be heading for a matinee tomorrow.

All active Wraith Commanders must report in using the private fleet forums at Wraith HQ. If you are unsure how to do this, contact myself [email protected] or Tac [email protected] immediately. Edited: my e-mail is [email protected], the one you had before is my e-mail for non-game related stuff. Must remember to change the thingy when replying and sending e-mails [ 12-18-2001: Message edited by: Tac ]

quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: There's a probe somewhere in Obsidia emitting a squawk code. Worth investigating. I have been working on another ACM scenario which is related to that probe. Will upload it when I'm done. It will have even the vets pulling out their hair. I've nice pretty pictures of that probe. Can't wait to learn more......

quote:Originally posted by $iLk: It's led to one for me several times, but sometimes it hasn't. The flux fields seem to have random exit apertures. I've conducted studies with my vessels and have exited in different places throughout the galaxy. In fact, if you not on the starcharts. F0X (Where X is the number of the fluxfield) is in a few different places. Sometimes entering a flux field drops me back to before I entered. Sometimes it drops me into a black hole. And sometimes it randomly drops me into enemy territory. The only thing I wish is that I could send probes in instead of doing the dangerous research myself. Take a look at the Nav Chart page of your BCM Manual Appendix and make sure you scroll to the bottom of the page.

quote:Originally posted by Badgerius: Talk about getting outsmarted by the AI. Here's the story of "The One that Got Away" I was in the Pluto region on my way to blockade New America. I get into a fight with an Aestrom. As I polish it off, a Mk-3 decloaks near me and attacks me. I manage to disable it, and get it under tow. During the fight, Gazer-1 had been destroyed, so I was heading back to Galcom HQ. After jumping into Earth space, I switched to external view to get a closer look at the new Mk-3 paint job. Just as I get it into view, I notice energy arcing over the hull. I shake my head in disbelief as the ship, still in the tractor beam, cloaks! I'm laughing my ass off, since I've still got it in the tractor. I got a screenshot, which I'll post later, of me tractoring nothing. I wondered how long he'd stay cloaked before he gave it up. I switched back to forward view to check the jump engines, and when I switched back to external, the tractor beam had disengaged. Sure enough, with no target to lock onto, the tractor had lost its lock on the Mk3, and I was sitting with shields down with a hostile carrier in my immediate vicinity. I had no choice but to raise my shields and hope he'd attack again. He never did though. I got a Mk1 as a consolation prize, but the wily cap'n (I can't think of it as an AI when it pulled that off) of the Mk-3 escaped capture not two minutes from Galcom HQ, and got away absolutely clean. Cadets, note the usefulness of cloaking devices as a defensive weapon.

BC3000AD Appendix..can I use all info for BCM ?
Tyrn replied to JAY's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
quote:Originally posted by ooJAYoo: Saw a few references to the Appendix on the download section of this site, if I was to print it out can I refer to it for use with BCM >?<, or are there certain pages that do not relate that I should be made aware of. Thanks.. Yes, most of the information applies. It is fairly safe to say that if it's in the BC3K appendices and not in the BCM Manual or appendix then it applies. (How's that for vague?) -
quote:Originally posted by Meldan: Quick question. Sometimes I find illegal cargo in cargo containers. I have noticed that Terran Military careers dont allow the trade of illegal items. I am aware that some stations have illegal security status and some are legal. As Terran Military, you can go to either and not have the illegal category in tradcom. Is there anywhere you can sell illegal cargo when you are Terran Military? Or is the only option creating a creating more space debris? No, TerMil confiscate and eliminate illegal cargos we do not traffic in such as they're ILLEGAL.

If you really want to find a black hole, make it a habit to use Flux Fields.

LOL, that's one lucky Cheese sandwich! Believing that I lie somewhere on that range of friendship, might I remind you (as Badgerius an doubtless others have) that as vital and important as this community has become to me, it's no where near as important to me as the well being of the people behind the handles. Derek, you're a good man but you have to remember to take care of yourself. Leave us alone for a while and go play! We'll be here when you get back and we promise to not burn the place down.

quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: uhm, probably - but IP addresses are not displayed in the forum, so how would he gain access to it? That just my point. That server's been running for well over three years and every so often I get a rash of attempts on it but that's about the same time every other server starts showing a bit of red on the radar due to random port probes. Been probe free for nearly 8 months. The link to my server is posted in the tech forums (which I was under the impression are closed to public viewing?) for people to download the patch and within 24 hours someone with too much time on their hands takes a shot at the server. I'm not too worried about it because I run a tight ship and the last time anyone tried hijacking/cracking my network the individual got no further than the entertainment above did. Unfortunately for him, he didn't stop. As a result, he lost his job, his reputation and earned himself a place on certain "key an eye on this one" lists. Last I heard, he's having a hard time finding stable work because his new reputation precedes him. My point is, I trust the people here (and I still do) and it's out of my love for the game and my desire to share it that I and others are willing to host the patches. It saddens me to know that there may be at least one true "raider" among us. Oh well, there's no point in letting the true low lifes make us stop trusting each other, so on with life!

quote:Originally posted by Cmdr Nova: Pixan Starstation -> Lennen, Sirius. In the Terran quadrant, it's the most heavily populated Raider/Mercenary/Assassin station out there. You'll find lots of action (Wraith HQ is nearby), and in multiplayer, you shouldn't have any problems getting backup. (Most of the mercs/assassins/raiders I know launch from Pixan. I used to.) Nova, over and out. Don't forget the station in Polaris-2. Velari is also Ter/Mil and between Wraith and Velari Stations, life in Lennen won't be easy.

quote:Originally posted by canusa: I just wanted to say thanks for hosting the file Tyrn. I tried several times last night to download it from 3dgamers with no success. I was finally able to download the patch on your server. Thanks! I really appreciate it. You're mighty welcome. BCM is a marvel and the more support I can give it the better.

quote:Originally posted by Tac: Neat links. Now what are you talking about? That hacker guy in the reports trying to get into your system? Tried and failed badly. It's a poor attempt at seeing if Cerberus (my ftp server) is vulnerable so files (likely filez) can be stored on it. As I haven't had even a single port probe on that machine for over eight months now, I find it very suspicious that I see such activity less than 24 hours after a link to my server is posted on a closed forum. Leads me to believe that the individual is one of us and it irritates the tar right out of me. [ 12-14-2001: Message edited by: Tyrn ]

Funny how quickly people try to abuse a service that others are willing to provide. I hope you enjoy the fame while it lasts. It also appears that you're known at DShield (see this report).
