Something told me that I would get this reaction. If you think that the DoD or the VA are going to say anything about the detrimental effects of military equipment and ammo,you are sorely mistaken. The main thing about DU Ammo is the armor piercing ability. After it has pierced the armor is where the real nastiness begins. The depleted uranium rods within the round become molten from the friction of passing through the armor and the inside of the target is literally sprayed with molten uranium and all of the metal involved. Both the shell jacket and the armor it pierced. The occupants of a tank are instantly burned to death. The radioactive particles distributed from the smoke of the ensueing fire will settle into the surrounding dirt, making it radioactive also. When the dust is blown around by the wind, the dust can be inhaled causing radiation sickness. It will also contaminate crops and ground water. I don't think we have too much to worry about with Iran and what was provided to them under the Shah back in the 70's. That equipment is thirty + years old now? Putting this train back on the right track

I am moving the discussion from the Chain gun thread, since it doesn't belong there and I was the one who, for all intensive purposes, moved the train down this track. The last few posts in the other thread took the arguement into new territory. Now, It's a given that terrorists and their actions in the name of Allah, are a major problem to all who don't see things their way but, wiping them from the face of the planet is not a proper cure, nor is it justifiable that anyone pay for all the hardware and manpower being used to put them in their place. Technically speaking, many of them were/are nothing more than victims of birth. Imagine growing up in a devout radical muslim household, where you are subjected to constant propaganda and physical abuse until you either tow the line or die at the hands of your father or other members of a radical Mullah's following. Not much different than the brainwashed views you boys are touting. You were raised with GI Joes and toy guns and you probably played Cowboys and Indians and Cops and Robbers as children. You went to school and were taught to pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, One nation under God, indivisable, with liberty and justice for all. I don't recall the following words as being a part of that pledge;'Except for those who our government tells us are our enemy." It seems to me that a great many in this country have forgotten those words, especially the words "ALL" and LIBERTY" and especially those we elected to hold the public trust. They seem to hold those words as just so much rhetoric anymore as they seek to divide us from our beliefs, our judicial system, our guns, our liberty and our money. I for one think it would be cheaper to capture terrorists by finding their hideouts, dropping laughing gas on them, capture them, try them in an international court and sentence the guilty to a penal colony in some far flung place. Like Antarctica. The British did that long ago with Australia and their dregs of society. Only difference here would be that criminals sentenced to Loora Pente won't be creating a new nation on a frozen continent. If any of the criminal's brethren decided to mount a rescue operation... Orbiting satellites would detect them and one Cruise missile could stop that plot in it's tracks. A heckuva lot cheaper than screwing our economy and our great great grandchildren's future. Thoughts?.....

The more I think about the possible circumstances surrounding the arrest of William Poole, the more I become angered and fearful that our constitutional right to free speech is being threatened. As well is the right to privacy. It was reported that Mr Poole is 18 years of age. which makes him a free adult in this country. Now, I don't want to hear that he was living under his grandparent's roof and still in high school. That one doesn't wash anymore. Our freedoms are the same for all of us, Man Woman or Child. At 18 we are afforded the right to vote. And now we are afforded a jail cell for expressing ideas on paper that some official authority decides is unlawful. Looks like McCarthyism history is back for a visit, only difference is the enemy has changed. The Communists threat from the USSR is gone and the Federal Government and all of it's overweight and everbudgeted departments needed a new enemy to combat. Enter the Terrorists, or should we say patsies? Oh, and this new threat gives them a good reason to suppress every idea or dissenting voice they deem unfit. And it gives them a free platform to spew lies and exaggerations, for lack of a better word, Propaghanda. To make Joe Citizen afraid of not only terrorists but, his neighbors and family and the very authorities that are sworn to protect his freedom. I haven't said nearly enough,yet. Roger that Grayfox, My questions were not intended as admonishment. I grew up in Kentucky although I was born in Detroit Michigan, to a father from Paducah and a mother from near Central City. Simple children of simple farm folk they are. Like most folks in that state, they will give you the shirt off their back. We can't blame Mr Poole's grandparents for being stoopid. Remeber that those folks have lived through the great depression and most likely both World Wars, So they are probably accustomed to believing all the crap that spews forth from D C. Like I said before, the cops were bored and wanted a spectacular bust to crow about. I'm sitting back now and waiting to watch them eat crow. Three years at Knox, eh? How many times did you visit Seventh Streeet in Louisville? Or did you guys barely get past Muldraugh hill before hitting that sleaze joint on Dixie Highway, in Kosmosdale? Can I say what I want about Illinois? I've been to Chicago numerous times and I've been to Metropolis, so I've seen about everything there.
