Enhancement request: Missions for Roam
R_wilco replied to Brian1's topic in Battlecruiser Millennium

Like I said before, information is scarce and the GBS FAQ is none too helpful. Do you think I've just been plodding along, playing the scenario, not paying attention to how it works? The structure of this game and it's functions are just as interesting to me as the game itself. [ 12-13-2001: Message edited by: R_wilco ] -
Enhancement request: Missions for Roam

Enhancement request: Missions for Roam

They don't take too kindly to wishlist items around here... But, I agree with you. This would enhance the game quite a bit. Question about this: Can you have 2 or more ACM scenarios running simultaneosly? For example... You have your "big game"(BG) scenario, and your "single mission"(SM) scenario. While performing a SM, let's say the mission is to destroy all Ter/Rai craft in this area, you encounter an important NPC which is part of BG. Let's also say that he is requesting escort back to a station, and he rewards you with an artifact afterwards(which, let's say, is part of the plot of BG). You're also rewarded with the pay from the SM. Is this possible? If not, what don't I understand? This also raises another question. Obviously one ACM scenario can be immediately follow by another one(Case in point: ACM The Future is Now Redux). But, can an ACM scenario be availible in MisCon that wasn't there previously, for example... In BG, you safely escort the ship to a station. When you dock, is there a way to have a new mission appear in MisCon? EDIT: Also, may be none of my business, but I think this belongs in GBS discussion. [ 12-12-2001: Message edited by: R_wilco ] -

Tells you a lot about the mindset of these gamers, doesn't it? LOL! Yes it does... EDIT: Hmm...my sig doesn't appear to be working. Macross: Battlecruiser Millennium total conversion
R_wilco replied to Vigilince's topic in Battlecruiser Millennium
quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: No. Only the character animations are supported. To put in support for those (doors, landing gear etc) animations, it would need to be coded in-game. Darn. Well, we COULD make it a "just for looks" mod like the FS2 RoboTech TC.... EDIT: And I'll bet you CAN'T re-code the game, unless your initials happen to be D.S.... Macross: Battlecruiser Millennium total conversion

2 comments on the mod: There's been some new developments in the DYRL mod for HomeWorld, they actualy got the veritechs to transform! A model editor named Guyffon pulled it off, simply by taking advantage of features in the game. In HomeWorld, when a ship with turrets moves near an enemy, the turrets are activated and start moving. One example is with the defender ship, which has turrets which come out of the side. With the DYRL mod, when a fighter gets near an enemy vessel, the "turret" model animation procedes, but instead of using turrets, the animation is for the whole ship to transform, and it looks pretty close to the real deal. Looking through BCStudio, I noticed animations for various models, such as the BC MK1. For instance, opening and closing cargo bays, and descending and ascending landing gear. These features are not implemented in-game, however, so I doubt that they can be used for the mod(such as including a way to activate a "transform" animation). So I'll ask directly. IS it possible to use the model animation features without editing the games code? More importantly, is the answer ,"Yes, if you know how"? One last thing. Assuming you could control it with a GBSII script, if you wanted to create scripts following the plot of SDF Macross: The Movie, you could use the RANDOM, along with several other OTS missles, to simulate the Zentraedi bombing of Earth. Yes EDIT: Hopefully without any Minmei songs [ 12-02-2001: Message edited by: R_wilco ] [ 12-02-2001: Message edited by: Gallion ] -

quote:Missing the intro isn't a big deal, but I'd like to see the blackholes and explosions people have mentioned. I think the flux field near Mars leads to a Black Hole...enjoy the view for about 10 seconds My problem hasn't gotten any better, and in fact it's gotten worse. I thought I remembered reading something in the faq about un-checking an option in the video card settings that says,"Adjust Z-buffer if depth unequal" or something similar. I un-checked that in my Nvidia card settings, but now, whenever I click "system" in the config menu, the game freezes and I have to restart my comp! It still does that even AFTER I re-checked "Adjust Z-Buffer if depth unequal". After I post this, I may re-install BCM to see if that helps.

You wouldn't believe how often I hear that... Anyway, one of my friends claimed that BCM ran great with a V3 card. I have no idea why. EDIT: No, I REALLY wish I was joking, but it DOES run faster on the slower computer. There are not many programs running in the background(that I know of), but I'll try closing 'em. Here's a misc. issue. For some reason, the game runs REALLY slow on my machine, I can't figure out why. It's almost unplayable. Here are my system specs... Intel 766 Celeron(there's one possible cause..) 172 Mbytes of PC133 RAM Nvidia Riva TNT2 Model 64/64 pro. I'm not sure how much onboard ram it has. Windows 98 SE Ironicly, on another computer I use(which I had uninstalled BCM from before to try it on this one), BCM ran at ludicrous speed, much faster than it is on this one. And that system was slower in comparison... Intel 566 Celeron Intel Integrated video 98 Mbytes of RAM Windows ME Maybe Nvidia is a bad card for BCM? I'm thinking about buying a Voodoo 3. EDIT: Ok, I got the RAM wrong. Sosumi [ 11-28-2001: Message edited by: R_wilco ] [ 11-28-2001: Message edited by: R_wilco ]

Macross: Battlecruiser Millennium total conversion

AWESOME! I knew this was going to happen eventualy. I was hoping I would be the one to do it, but if you guys do a good enough job, you have my support. Good luck getting the fighters to transform though.... -
Finaly got it installed! According to UPS, my copy of BCM has been to Houston, TX, Westchester PA, somewhere in North Dakota, and Redmond, WA, before they called and said they made a mistake and I need to come pick it up. While I'm neither stupid nor a newbie, I have some questions. First, the graphic for wormholes does NOT appear. I may have screwed up the install in some way, my CD-ROM is very buggy with installing anything. I'm not sure why. Second, when I play as a Gammulan Commander, can me and my crew at least look a LITTLE Gammulan? They don't, in fact, in ANY non-human scenario, the commander and crew look human. I guess you don't want us to play as anything but human... These are my only problems with the game, otherwise, it's AWESOME, surpassing even what I expected back in the beta days.

Wait..what patch? Not the MP patch?? In other news...COUNTDOWN to the patch!
-
Hello. Sorry I haven't been around in a while, but I've been kind of busy lately I had an idea for music. Does anyone remember the LucasArts space combat games, or origin's Wing Commander? In those, the music changed to match the scenario. For example, you could play a variation of the "galcom" anthem (or whatever) in your friendly space, fast-paced battle music in a battle, and creepy "searching" music while behind enemy lines. And have "bad" battle music if your ship is heavily damaged in a battle. I wish I could give an example of these... I understand that The Game's code is not designed for this sort of thing, but it sounded like a good idea when I thought of it.
-
LOL, ok...T-Minus 1 day
-
As you all know, BCM is being shipped sometime this week, but we don't know exactly when. So I'm starting yet another countdown until the end of the week. I was going to post a reason why, but at this point I've forgotten it. Ok, you can stop reading now. If you read this sentence, it won't tell you anything
-
Is there an exact ETA on the game? Or are we going to have a countdown for the whole week too?
-
Normaly I do not have much to say on this subject, but I think 2 words are the reason people have been anti-gun: Columbine High

quote:MTV: BUY BCM... TO NOT BUY BCM CAUSES YOU TERRIBLE PAIN!!! That's a half truth, WAITING for BCM causes you even MORE terrible pain

Very few outside these forums seem to recognize the hard work and dedication SC and his crew have put in the BC series, ESPECIALY given the sheer scope and scale of The Game. I've said it before, I'll say it again. SC, j00 r0xx0r.

Wait a sec...wait...ok, I'm sure this time. I got an idea... Remember the EB games billboard in the BCM Ep 2 demo? Advertisers could PAY you to put ads in BCM on bases! Maybe that's not such a good idea...
-
This may have already been asked, but I'm curious, IS there a way to change your caste in-game? Like going renegade, or somehow resigning your commision to become a trader? Probably not, but I thought I'd ask No, unless it is scripted in the mission/campaign OR you are court martialed And also, I forgot what it was called, but I read that there's a feature in The Game which let's you recieve AND send messages to NPC ships(and PC ships after the MP patch). Has it been enabled, or is it still in testing, or just removed? Not enabled [ 10-13-2001: Message edited by: Gallion ]
