quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: I highly recommend any card based on the S3 chipset. Second choice would be any Rendition based card. [ 12-04-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] Actually I was talking about the SCs comment. I am still thinking if it was ment to be funny or taken seriously. There was time when I used Diamond Viper II z200, I believe it was based on S3 chipset, so unless there's something I don't know it sucks. So because there's no smilies in SCs post, and I don't know anything else about S3 chipset besides what I know about that Diamond card I am left wondering.

better than GeForce 3?

What I heard is you can't try him for treason because we are not oficially at war. Politics suck, but someone has to do it. I was thinking about it and decided that all those guys in the white house, writing laws, discussing our strategies, should we declare war or not, other complicated stuff, we shouldn't really trash them. I think the whole thing is more complicated than it seems on the surface. Anyway, as for that guy, someone proposed an idea that he was working for US as a spy on the inside of taliban, and if he was then I doubt we will hear about it because then taliban will be more carefull with their recruits.

Hopefully he will clarify and edit, when he sees this. quote:Originally posted by Soback: No don't get me wrong. Even if you are in TACOPS, press F1 and be on the bridge right away. Countdown to the first RANDOM launch?

quote:Originally posted by SmileyMan: Thanks Soback, although I know that the shuttle can find the drone wherever it is on the planet. But overland travel is sloooooow, what I want is for the shuttle to planetfall right on top of the drone and then head back to the CC. I can do this by sending a fighter into the atmosphere with "Wait For Orders", allowing me to Zoom To the drones and then set Extract Drone waypoints targetted at the drones themselves. This is what I do at the moment, and it works fine (the shuttles get back to the CC real fast) but the initial sending a fighter bit seems a bit superfluous (because my scanner could detect an enemy ATV for instance without needing a presence on the planet). Setting the waypoints as you said would mean a long overland flight for my shuttle (might get those marine AIs up though ) Mitchell - thanks ever so much for your info. I didn't realise the areas were configurable like that. Cheers all, Smiley If you set your waypoints from TACOPS before launching the shuttle, then when you are done setting waypoints, come back to the bridge and lauch the shuttle, tell it "RESUME WAYPOINTS" order and see what it does. It should fly to the planet and drop right on top of the drone (or pretty close to it) pick it up and bring it back to CC in no time. Try it.

Look, BCM has the best and the most complex dynamic universe out there, you might think IW2 is dynamic, it's not. It also has the best and smartest AI. Many games advertise their AI and universe as dynamic and smart, let me tell you something, THEY ARE LYING. So because of that a GAZILLION games can run on your computer and you don't have to change one setting, haven't you noticed that all those games are pretty much THE SAME? So either get a better computer with more processing power for the AI and dynamic universe and that way you don't have to touch any of your settings, or run the game with lower settings and change them every time. As for crashes and other problems, I had some in the begining, the first patch fixed all the CTDs I had and now it's only the little things like persistent damage fx. So obviously it's not the games fault that you have CTD, because it runs fine here, and on other computers. Check your settings, your comp. configuration, and adjust, don't want to bother with it, go paly IW2 and enjoy their "smart" AI and "dynamic" universe. When you get bored, we will welcome you back.

Those are your opinions, and you are entitled to them, but some of them are not very inteligent. For example you saying that if you are deep into tactical computer and it takes multiple clicks to get out to the bridge, all you need is one click. You hover the mouse over the tab in the upper right corner, menu comes down and you choose "log off" or you can just press F1. So just based on that I am doubting your credibility of complaints, because it's different when you have an opinion about something you know and don't like, or something that you don't like just because you don't know how to use it.

Oh man. See, now that's exactly what I am talking about. You have a problem, it's talked about, verified and fixed almoust instantly. No bull$hit, no waiting for 2 months with phony excuses, no-no replys at all like you don't exist and there's no problem. That's the biggest and probably the most important difference between SC/3000ad and other developers/companies out there.

Deployment of CAB from a Heavy Cruiser..?? (resolved)

Maybe. I don't know, I use imagination. Probably wouldn't even like seeing a floor plan of stormcarrier by now, anyhing formal would ruin the world I have build after playing for 17hrs.

quote:Originally posted by SmileyMan: OK, please could someone clear up a few points for me: Mining drones: The Zoom To function will not list mining drones on uninhabited planets unless you have some other presence (shuttle/fighter/marine/OC) on the planet. The drones are there, and mining, but you cannot find them. Is this the correct behaviour? Also, when ordering a shuttle to recover the drone, if the Retrieve Drone X waypoint is the only waypoint set on the planet, will the shuttle make planetfall where the drone is, or where the waypoint is set (which may be miles from the drone as per the above paragraph)? Perscan: On my Nightstar, the Intruders section of PerScan just lists the number of intruders and has a couple of up/down arrows (which apparently do nothing), with no details as to their locations etc, which makes sending marines to intercept a little bit harder. Is this the correct behaviour? Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer the above. Smiley You don't need to remember where you deployed the mining drone. Once you deploy it, it will ride around the planet mining minerals. To pick it up, set one waypoint as "proceed to next" (you can set it anywhere on the planet) and then next waypoint about 1 or so kilometer away as "retreive drone #x" and it will pick up the drone no matter where it is on the planet.

quote:Originally posted by Zuul: I hate to add to this, but BCM locks up on me constantly still. I'm tired of having to re-configure my whole system every single time I feel like playing a single game of BCM. You honestly cannot expect people to keep video and sound acceleration turned to a minimum, have BIOS settings changed, and reinstall the game a hundred times to get the game to work. And several other system changed settings like keeping the screen depth and resolution down. I have 30+ other major titles loaded up on my system and they all work beyond perfectly fine. But in order to get a halfway decent game of BCM going I need to do all of this every single time? I already know what fixes are needed to stop the crashes/lockups, but you are asking us to reconfigure our whole system every single time just to play BCM. Why should we even have to do ANY of that to get a single game to work!? Don't tell me its my system configuration either at this point. Like I said, I have games that are a hundred times more graphic and memory intensive.... Gateway P3 866 256MB SDRAM GeForce2 GTS (Det v2183) SBLive DirectX 8.1 Windows ME BCM v1.0.01 final release Don't like it. Don't play it. Forget this forum, the game and leave. If you don't want to reconfigure your whole system and decrease the screen depth and resolution then get a better system that can handle a game that requires a lot of resources. SC has said a million times, HE WILL NOT CATOR TO THE LOWEST DENOMINATOR. So you can have a game that has advanced AI and enjoy it with lower screen depth, or get a better machine and enjoy it with higher screen depth, or you can have a game with AI from homeworld. So if you want the later, go buy it and play it.

You can add so many things to the CC craft oh mighty one, but yet my CC can't install the artifact shield upgrade. I want to be the baddest bad @ss in the galaxy, do you think it can be possible to make a kind of unofficial/undupported "patch" so that all ships can use all artifacts and upgrades?

Box was also wrapped in plastic? Don't think so.

OH my god. I haven't visited the forums since lates thursday night. I come back and see all this problems. For 3 days all I have been doing is taking care of my business and playing BCM with basically no problems besides the damage fx that sometimea appears and dissapears, but I ignore it, and a couple of random crashes, but I save every 15 minutes (not a quick save, don't like that one) so I reload and continue. I guess my BCM decided to like me. Hope I don't jinx it (knocks on wood, throws salt over the shoulder, and hangs a rabit foot from the monitor). Well, going to go play.

marines and pilots like to sky dive without parachutes!!!
Soback replied to treeder's topic in General Discussions
You see, if the terrain is not flat the shuttle has trouble landing, so they couldn't land but you ordered them to get out there, so they figured they would take their chances and learn to fly rather then come back to CC and having you do weird things to punish them for disobeying. -
Yes? What yes? I want to know. Tell me, tell me, tell me.

Battlecruiser Millennium needs a delete confirmation.
Soback replied to a topic in Battlecruiser Series
Dope, I got confused about that post and thought that you guys were talking about uninstalling BCM and deleting the BCM folder with all the save files. Oh, man, I must have not gotten enough sleep or something. -
Also the delay you are talking about when you fire and then the damage you see regestering on the bridgeviewer. It takes time for the shot to travel through space and hit the station, so don't shoot off a million shots and then peck the station, wait about 30 seconds after you get it's hull pretty low, make sure that ALL of the shots you fired have hit before proceding with the low intensity fire.

LOL, I was really surprised when I found a whole lot of my cargo in the shuttles after the intruders were "taken care of". Never thought they would be that smart as to not only try to steal a shuttle but also take the cargo.

I am having the opposite problem. I want my FC to come back without ANY missles with them, they seem to be saving them all the time. As for FATAL, I put 8 missles as fatal on some target, they all get launched and maybe 20% of the time less than half will hit. Their tracking sucks.

Try looking around, just because the best drivers I could find for my Diamond was something that "supported" (sorta) DX 8.0 doesn't mean there isn't something better for your card. Who knows, you might find something. Go to the official site for your card manufacturer, and if you don't find anything there then look through the archives for newer drivers that are just generic for the chipset and not your card in particular. That might help.
