I got 56k too. Cable is around 40 bucks, that's twice as much as regular 56k connection. I just hope 56k is enough to actually play online and not ping someone to death.

Warcraft was my first pc game. I played it for 17 hours straight, then slept for 3 hours, and then played for another 5.

I don't even know if such a patch exists, I thought that there was only version 1.0, then version 2.0 that's upgradable to 2.9. There's two reasons why you shouldn't even bother. 1.BC:M demo, download that. 2.BC:M will be out very very very soon.

Ok, I have kinda of a problem too, if I play the game without the /d1 parameter, everything is peachy except after 30-40 minutes goes on and the game just crashes. If I play with the /d1 parameter, when I switch to external views ex.F9 or F10, there's a whole bunch of text, and it's hard to look through it all to see what's going on, also the docking to the station distance is messed up, I can basically dock from pretty much anywhere. Is there a way to get rid of all that text, or any other way I can play without /d1 so that the game wouldn't crash after some time goes by? One more thing, in the second scenario (havn't tried it in the first), if I send my AE to the shuttle and launch, after the screen switches to the shuttle view the game just hangs.

I would say stay with voodoo right now,(why spend money on a 3d card if yours is still good), not sure if the graphics would be much better just because of a different card, later on though, when you need more 3d memory, then upgrade.

They really do make some good stuff, I think it's just that the company got so big that comunications between some of it's parts are breaking down and they are trying to blame everyone else(ex. Linux) for whatever problems they might have, too bad SC isn't running Microsoft, he would whip that company right into shape. I wonder if Microsoft will ever brake down and dissapear or will it stay forever? I actually hope it stays, like I said, some of the stuff they make are pretty good. Akira, my knowledge in computers is limited on how to put them together, install stuff, and fix minor problems. So, can you explain about the .13micron flab and also why would it be good to have 2OS on one pc?

I will clear it up. On bench tests, AMD processors scored higher then P3, P4 is a whole new generation and therefore is the fastest processor right now. So if you get a P4 then it will be a while before they become absolete and also RD-ram is better then dd-ram, some may disagree because of the numbers ex.ddram 2100 it is actually a pc-266 ram they just uped the numbers in the name because they wanted to compete with rdram and that made it sound like it was faster. You might save some money, but if you can spring for P4, then get that, it's much faster, and I think it will be worth it in the future since it will hold up longer.

Get a faster hard drive, and maybe instead of 2 chips of 128 rd-ram get one 256 chip and one contunuity module, that way when you upgrade the ram later on all you have to do is just get another chip of 256 rd-ram. I don't know much about the game, so when I read your post, I just can't stop from laughing. LOL......

I had a similar thing happened to me, and the system would boot up the same way after that. My hard drive just crashed and was wasted, after I replaced the hard drive it worked again. So maybe your hd just crashed?

Don't take stuff from that thread too close to heart or mind, and my guess is that SC will not like posts from that thread appearing here or anywhere else. He will make his own manual about technical stuff and so on, after the BC:M comes out. So I suggest we refrain from discussing anything about techs and how they work untill then. If you want to find something good for less money, go to computer shows, all kinds of laptops there. Don't let the salesman keep talking too much though.
