Parias, you shouldn't trash that game like this. If you played Privateer, and Privateer 2 then this game is very much fun because it's a lot like them but with much better graphics and awsome flight physics, and only because there isn't much eye candy it's the only game where I saw a station being rotated like in Babylon 5. Other's will throw in better graphics but the flight physics and the details (like station rotation or selective damage to the ship and subsystem targeting) isn't there.

They have a lot of patches out, but you only need one after you buy the game. It sells v1.1 and there's a patch from v1.1 to v1.81 and that's it. It hasn't crashed on me once, and it's only $19.99 now, don't buy it if they are charging you 29.99 or higher. Of course it's not BC:M or close to it but the way I look at it it's not comparable. I mean in BC:M you can play as a commander of a capital ship, a trader, a fighter pilot, a marine... etc.... in Terminus you only play as a pilot of a sinlge seater, what you choose is a career, like for Earth or Mars military, a pirate or a mercenary. The graphics are not top of the line and the flight engine takes getting used to because it's based on newtonian physics, but once you go through training missions and start the game in story line(which I heard goes into free mode once the story line is over) it's rather fun to fly and get money for missions and spend it on your ship or just buy a whole new one. Sometimes I just launch for the hell of it, put the camera in chase view and see what kind of weir manuvers I can do with those newtonian physics.

Ok, I just got the game 2 days ago. I really feel that it's been given unfair reviews by many people. The game is rather nice. You can fly different ships, complete missions for $, trade, and mine asteroids, and then spend the money you get on different ships and to manintain and outfit those ships. The universe in the game is really dynamic too. There's a whole lot of ships always flying around no matter where you are, doing their own thing, entering and exiting in jump gates and docking with stations. One cool moment was when I was exiting a station and another 2 docking ports opened and one more ship was flying out and another was docking. The missions that you can undertake vary widely and new types of missions appear as your reputation increases. The flight engine is the real good part about the game. The ship slides and slips, just like in I-war and if you set the physics settings to higher then it's even more then that, you can actually speed up, turn off comp assistance, turn around and shoot at the pursuing ship without loosing any speed. The only part I agree with in the reveiws is about the graphics engine which is a little aoutdated but nice, and also the computer pannels at the station, they could have animated the windows better and instead of giving me just a textual description of whatever I am buying maybe throw in a picture too. Overall, anyone would like this game if they werent going in with already set mind about it, tainted by all the mediocre reviews out there.

Santa Barbara Yacht Club?

Well, I doubt that he would go in willingly. So sledgehammer will help. What can we do with him once the molding process is complete is the real question. I was thinking about putting him up on display at the art museum. Maybe some billionaire will buy him for a bunch as a great art piece and we can split the profits.

Yeah, I played Shogun for a while. I like the way you can plan the battles. When to draw back and let your troops rest under the safe cover of their archers and when to attack, and then to send in mounted units to mop up. Really really nice.

"Now that i think about it more, SC said BCM has 90% of the stuff in GCO. So it makes sense that when you buy the game it doesn't cost full price since only 10% is new stuff. " I don't understand where you get the idea that it doesn't cost full price. GCO is in no way BC:M, don't confuse the 2. It's multiplayer where you can buy and own land and buildings, you will be able to go inside them, there will be new tech, you don't play against the ai but rather real human players in a persistent universe. I don't understand the 10% new stuff part, and how the game compares to BC:M, how is that measured? In tech or ships or something? Cause there is no way to measure the gaming itself in percent. Anyway, it will be very much different from BC:M and they only thing that will be familiar is the space maps.

"you can now freely give the game away to friends" that is such bull, if I have the game and want to give it to my buddy to play I dont give a #$% if they are printing cds or not, my game, I bought it, if I want to give it to someone I will since I paid for this cd.

Did you have to buy Fallout 2 even thought you had Fallout 1? Did you have to buy Fallout tactics even thought you had Fallout and Fallout 2? They all were based on the same engine. What about the rest of the games and their so called sequells? BC:M and GCO are 2 different games. They are only set in the same universe.

Posted by Epsilon 5 "Hmmmm... good idea... you come with me? Know his adress?" You get his adress I get the jars, drill, superglue, and some feeding tubes. Maybe while we are at it, wanna mold his hands and feet into a giant pretzel?

Posted by Cmdr Nova "For all you newbies, SC is Supreme Commander, aka Derek Smart, creator of the BC games. Supreme Commander is his username here on the message board." I am always wondering if that's really him.

Yeah, lucky me that BC series takes some brains to play and that my friend hates reading instructions. He downloaded BC:M demo and after it wouldn't play on the first try, he didn't even want to read the faq to fix the problem, he just came over to my place and tried the BC:M demo on my computer.

That has to be a joke, if it's not then I would like to put that guys head into a jar and mold it into a triangle.

Shut Up, everyone JUST SHUT UP< twitches nervously and looks over his shoulder > Shut up I said. (That's what happens when you sit in front of the computer for too long)

BCM demo.... cant seem to add the /d1 to short cut

Sure. -
I came over to my friends place one time and saw him playing the game, it looked really cool, all those things you can do I was amazed, so I asked him "What game is this", he said it's BC3000AD, but started complaining that it was too complicated and he doesn't know how to do half the stuff (he never reads the manual, and I mean never, he would rather dink around for an hour and smash the keyboard then to read it) so I asked him if I can take it home and try it. He said yes, and then later I can teach him how to play. So I took it home and played for a looooong loooong time, I told him that I loved the game and he told me to keep it since he would have to actually read the manual to play it and there's no way for him to figure out all that stuff on his own. True story.

What game is that?

BCM demo.... cant seem to add the /d1 to short cut

If you make a search in this section of the forum on "/d1" you will get a topic with exact instructions on how to go about the whole thing. -
BC:M will probably be playable with voodoo cards although the graphics will suck. I have a voodoo 3 and I will be buying BC:M and then saving for a new 3d card, just can't wait that long enough to save for the 3d card first and the game later. Although better graphics is a BIG +, BC:M is more about the idea of the game itself. After all that's what separates it from the others out there.

Make sure that you screen resolution in the game is 16 and your desktop resolution is 16 also. I had the same problems in the begining and that was because my desktop resolution was 16 and game 32.
-
Why the last? I mean the tech is always progressing, better graphics, faster processors able to process more, etc.... Why not make an even better game after that?
-
No rush.

I got Starfleet Command II from my buddy this weekend. That game seems nice, you give orders to your ships, they fight, tell them which weapons to use. I especially liked the Phaser/Laser, torpedoes and other weapons animations and also the way ships change their appearance when they are crippled.
