quote:(thanks to whoever it was pointed out that mistake - I think it miht have been Nova) You're welcome. quote:Thank you also to whoever offered to host our signature gif seeing as Yahoo was locking everybody else out! You're welcome, again. Good to see you back in the saddle, DeSylva. See my reply to the "web sites" topic on the ISS Boards (here at the 3000ad site) about web hosting.

IIRC, I only volunteered for misc. files, to host on my site. You know, if you wanna get a full deal, I'm sure Blades can cook something up for you. He got me my space, and he's the admin for the server anyway. Go check with him, if you're interested. I think he could spare you a piece of the site.

To tow something, you've got to be able to target it. Tell me: can you target a rock? I didn't think so.

IIRC, ring debris was disabled in the E2 demo. I think it was something to do with optimizing the game's performance, and was fixed in Gold. According to the VCF packed with the E2 Demo, it doesn't say anything, but i haven't yet gone out to the rings to see, myself. Guess you won't be playing with the boulders, just yet. Then there's shields, armor, and sub-space high speed. I'm still in the process of deciding, before everything's permanent. I just might keep my Spacestar, though. It's down to your personal preference, though. There really doesn't appear to be a ship that excels in every stat. I prefer to have something that's somewhat average. Not the fastest, but it's fast; got okay weapons, good armor, etc.

what do fleets do?

Single player: Death=Game Over (You've got to start over, or load a save game from before you died; note you can't save/load an Instant Action scenario.) Multiplayer: ???? [ 11-07-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ] -
Hm... That's what I'd like to know. Really; if I've missed something, please tell me!

The thing is, we're not simple. Most Console fans would probably have a hard time getting used to glitches and whatnot. And then there's the learning curve of some games that throws them away. Back on Subject: Scriv, I personally don't have a preference. I don't see any good games coming out for the PS2, X-Box, or Gamecube that are catching my attention at the moment. I'm just waiting for some RPGs to come out. I just might get a PS2 for Final Fantasy X and such. Anyway, I've been a console gamer my whole life. With a pretty small computer and not enough cash to get a totally new one (which I really need), I haven't really been caring about graphics and don't see much difference with the consoles and PC other than stability and stuff. And there's the fact of ease and simplicity with consoles. To tell you the truth, my computer is so unstable; probably a BSOD around 4 times a week. (There's the fact that I haven't done a routine re-format, re-install for a long while, which probably leads to crawling performance and eventually the BSODs. But there isn't that problem on consoles, is there....) So for me, it's a fifty-fifty, between PCs and consoles. Here's my take between the two. PC Gaming: Advantages: Great Graphics, if you can afford it. Upgradable Customizable Does more than gaming Disadvantages: You've gotta pay a leg and an arm to get the good stuff. You've gotta pay to get on the internet, which also raises the cost. It gets obsolete, so you've gotta pay more to keep the ability to play the latest and greatest. Crashes. Instability. Computer game manufacturers now doing the "make 'em eat patches" routine. Console Gaming: Advantages: Simplicity. Cheaper than computers. Buy it once, you can play every single game. No upgrading and "if, ands, or buts". Almost no glitching and crashing. No need for patches. Disadvantages: Can't make a complete system upgrade. (like a computer) After a few years, there's always something better. (But that's also on the PC industry) Not customizable. Just does gaming. Those are just my $0.02 on the subject. ---------- What I'm doing right now, is waiting on the sidelines to see what's best. But if you're dead sure you're getting one soon, get the PS2. It's head-start on the competition gave it a bigger choice of games. There's a better chance of finding something you like out there. quote:Posted by Epsilon 5: Alright then how do you do that : - ONE tv - a Sega Master system - a Nitendo 8-bit - a Sega Genesis - a Super Nintendo - a Sega Saturn - a Playstation - a N64 - a Sega Dreamcast - a Playstation 2 I have a NES, Genesis, SNES, PS, N64, and I'm planning on getting one of the newer systems later this year or early next. I run all my systems on RF adapters. Leaves room for the newer ones on my a/v ports and s-video, which until a few weeks ago, were all used by my SNES, PS, and 64. Remeber graphics were never my first priority.

Cool. Then we'd really see what makes The Man tick. Autobiographies are always cool; I mean, who knows the subject better than the subject itself? (Then again, I confuse myself three times out of five....)

I know Gallion. But he said 3d course plotting. We already explained to him about the Tacops course plotting (the waypoints), but he was talking about changing the waypoint to a precise altitude. No harm done. Good to see you're all set up now, Rosko.

Alliances dynamically change in-game. It should have displayed a message at the top of the screen (like all other comms.) about it.

I think I already started that, Ep5. Oh well. Here we go again!
-
The boy's already in ISS? Well I didn't know. Someone hand the guy his sig, ASAP.

Final clarification: Yes, (I think) you can go up in both Rank and Fleet Position in multiplayer. Rank being the in-game one, based on Experience/Combat Kills, and the Fleet Position being something like Executive Officer, Strategic Operations Officer, Staff Officer. Your chances of getting promoted to a Fleet Position are based on how much you keep in touch with your Fleet Leaders, how active you are, and possibly your performace. Your rank (in multiplayer) doesn't necessarily represent your Fleet Position. In the forums, we usually mark that in our sigs, but I'm not sure about multiplayer. Guess we'll have to wait until then. ----- And since I see you're looking at fleets, I might also add that Orion is looking for some good folks. Only think of joining Orion if you know you're the best. Oh, and our 22nd Interplanetary Marine Battalion and Orion Fighter Command don't really have anyone leading them, yet. But only think of a Fleet Position if you think you're better than the best. $ilk should answer any questions about Fleet Recruitment in Orion, if you think you're coming our way. We're the most active fleet here, and plan to be at the top, in multiplayer. See you then.

Oh, and I fixed the timing of your Intel Command logo, to 2.5 secs/frame, to match all the other ones. (Like the official one SC uses.) (EDIT: Ditto post above.) [ 01-22-2002: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

ISS->Intel Command image is at: (Oh, and if you want, I can make/upload a regular ISS logo (without any Command Wing designation), for everyone else, until your wing has one. In fact, I'll be right back with one. Check back in a few mins....) (Edit: I've moved the link. I rearranged my site during the redesign, to reduce clutter, by sorting some folders and whatnot. Yep. Okay then....) [ 01-22-2002: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

And I'm still up for hosting your image temporarily until you can find a spot that lets everyone see it. What good's putting a logo on your sig if no one can see it? (Jerold, DeSylva and anyone else using it: try logging out of your insystemsupport Yahoo! group, and see the forums; you can't see the sig images, and the ones that Jerold's been posting around the (3000ad) ISS Forums.) Just email me, [email protected] with the image attatched, and I'll reply or post here with the link to it, if you're interested. I really wanna see that logo of yours.

what do fleets do?

quote:Posted by $iLk: and the appendix is available in http://www.3000ad.com/downloads/bcm.shtml SC took it off the downloads page. It's still on my site, but it's obsolete until I get a copy of the newer, revised edition from the game's CD. I've had contact with a few newbies last week and this week. According to what they've told me, you have a kazon2366 coming your way, and it looks like Mister Gardner is looking into Orion. Give 'im the usual, if/when he gets to the Recruitment office. -
quote:Posted by Rosko: Why isn't this an important issue like it was in homeworld?? 'Cause the variable AI of the pilots makes the game more realistic. If they followed every single command to the exact precicise point, that wouldn't be challenging. Just set the route, and boom, boom, boom--that guy's done for good. The AI is really good, if your pilots have gained experience in the field for a while. And if the pilots used an exact path, they wouldn't be having fun! --- Last notes: When you tell an AI pilot to attack something, they automatically plot a course, dodging enemies along the way, attacking, and breaking after every "attack run". Try it in the BCM Demo Episode 2 against a station, or even a land base. (Hell, attack Alderon if you want.) And just wait until GCO. You just might have another human player being your pilot. I'd love to see what commanders do when they plot courses for their pilots. Personally, I'd just say, "attack this dude, use missiles if necessary", set him off, and follow up with my ship.

It's another board glitch, I'm guessing..... *sigh*
-
Oooh, the newbies say it's cruel! Heh, those newbies haven't been here long enough to see what cruel is. I say release it. It's more stable than the other demos. It's not like we're gonna complain.

A BIOS update to your mobo might help. (With memory read errors.) Um, if you know how to upgrade a BIOS, that is. I could help if you need me. Just holler, and tell me what mobo manufacturer/model, if you do. Then again, a BIOS update is the last resort. Try using CNET's Catch-Up utility on their site, to update everything you've got. I mean everything. Ooh, and I took Ep5 and SC's advice.... (See sig) [ 11-04-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

Err, Alderon/Farstar only exists in the Instant Action/Xtreme Carnage universe (used in the demo). I'd give you a map of the official universe, but the Orion Fleet server is down. Just wanted to point that out to you.

ROTFLMAO!!! I swear, people have wayyyy too much time on their hands. And dude! The brilliant combination of "Tourist Guy" and "Zero Wing"/"All Your Base"! And watching him get kicked in THE BALLS several times by a soccer player! And watching him literally be everywhere! Boy, I can't give these guys anything less than a 15 on a scale of 10..... Man, he has been everywhere! From the Last Supper, to the USS Cole bombing, to "The Sixth Sense", to "The Matrix", and "Ghostbusters"! LMAO
