  1. Eeeehh... I don't know what quite to say; I'm 14 and legal talk scares me.... What do I do? I'm not sure if there's any correct legal way to do this, so here goes. --- Mr. Smart: I request your permission to host a mirrored copy of the official BCM Appendix (supplied on the Battlecruiser Millennium game CD-ROM), on the www.rp.orionfleet.com sub-domain. --- I'm all up for disclaimers, if necessary. (Don't care how big or small, either.) And if I do something wrong, you could contact me to correct any violations. And since good ol' Blades is the sys-admin for the server, you could also have him do something about it (i.e. delete anything in violation on my sub-domain), if I'm not able to get back to your messages. (No problem with deleteing stuff, I usually got backups on my computer, and I'll most likely get back to any communications from you so it might not get that far.) And, if the answer's no, then I could just go to writing my own tutorials and saying RTF(insert applicable letter here)... Hey, I'm the Newbie Welcome Wagon, I'll find a way to get the info out to those poor, little, helpless guys. (And I'm the guy who's re-writing the Orion Fleet handbook, anyway.) I'm young, I'm not very knowledgeable at this kind of stuff, and people say I'm kinda naive, but I don't care. I'm just sorta curious. So don't eat me, SC.
  2. Thanks for the heads-up, SC. I'll probably have someone send me the newer Appendix, since I haven't ordered, yet..... I'll worry about that later.
  3. I thought about this for a while. I got some sort of idea. Think musical teaser trailer. Like those Dragon Ball Z music videos with footage from the show. I've been seeing stuff like that all over the net. So, it's not exactly a trailer, trailer, but it's a cool thing. I could also make a combination in-game and video-comic form movie, too. I could easily see some comedy or action in one of those. Of course, I just suck too bad at art to make something decent for an animated (comic or something) form.
  4. quote:Im not going to order because I dont think that many people where I live will want the game. ......My real life best friend doesn't like BCM because of BC's reputation, and because of propaganda a-la Shirley. So what? I'm still planning to get it. quote:no i did order the gam, already, i just can't wait i need some new bcm action now! The game's gonna be shipped before any new demo is released.
  5. Hm... Anybody remember Armed Transports? They could probably fill some really light roles. (With it's PTA's, it could sorta be considered like a frigate, give or take.) And then you'd have the cruisers handle some of the other jobs. The fact is, space battle isn't 100% like sea battle, and the technology has changed. From what I've seen, in 3015, ships are built for multi-role assignments. That's my $0.02. --- The most recent revisions of Ship specs are in the BCM Appendix. In BCM, there are only Heavy and Super Cruiser class ships. I've got a mirror of the Appendix, here. I'm sure you'll find it pretty informative. --- When I was looking at the appendix, I saw the Generis Armed Transport, and my reaction was like, huh? To me, that's the most unique design I've seen, for something in the year 3015..... Looks something like a futuristic version of a B-52 or something of the like. 6. Hehe, you haven't ordered BCM yet, I'm guessing......... I'm in the same boat as you. But I'm patient, I know SC's gonna come through. And I'll be ordering soon anyway.
  7. quote:----------------------- The next count-down will be: Count-down to multi-player!!!! ----------------------- My thoughts exactly. No, the next countdown will be the countdown to that countdown....... Isn't that what Ep5, or someone was doing earlier? I say 10 days..
  8. Cool idea. Yes, the SC's busy. Hm.... Anyone here got any ideas? We could do a group sorta effort.
  9. I'll probably still get one of the Radeon-based All-In-Wonder cards. I'll probably use it on my second monitor, and run games on my main monitor. Which is what I've been doing. (AIW/Rage 128 on Main, Intel 810 on second.) I love the built in TV-Tuner, and the capturing stuff, considering I don't have a firewire port.
  10. What Greg said..... LMAO! Really great advice, but too bad most of those Shirley-propaganda-eating fools will blame the game, anyway. [ 10-25-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  11. quote:Yeah but here's the question: When has ATI EVER fixed their damn drivers? 6-20-01, when they released the beta drivers for the Rage 128, that let me finally play the BCM Demos. Anyway, I don't see anything wrong with ATI's chipsets either. It's the drivers that really screwed their reputation. Speaking of ATI's chipsets, I've read the reviews on the ATI "Flipper" chip, used in the Nintendo Gamecube. Looks pretty good so far, but haven't seen any specific reviews on the nVidia "XGPU" for the Xbox yet. Ah well. (I've been a heavy console gamer, and still am...) Still, I won't decide which is "best", until I try them myself. ......They're focusing so much on the chipsets themselves. It's a shame they're being pulled down by their drivers.
  12. Hmm... I found the normal drivers for the ATI Rage 128, didn't work. The unsupported Beta drivers, however did work, and I'm playing the BCM Demos, with absolutely no problems. Upon looking at the ATI pages, they don't appear to have any public Beta drivers for the Radeon, at the moment. What do I say? F@#$ ATI and get something from another decent company next chance. Downgrade your drivers to some older one that worked a while back, for now. The ATI site still has the 4.13.7075 (March 20) drivers, on the site, under "Alternate Driver". (Scotty's post says this driver works. Hopefully it will, on your sys.) quote:I was wondering, not being a PC programmer, why some games work with one set of graphics drivers and another will not? Is it more coding style or preferance, or is it deeper than that It's the drivers' fault. The game uses Direct X, so that's the norm that 3000ad uses to get the game's graphics to work. It's up to the driver manufacturer to get their drivers to work with the several graphics standards (like Direct X and OpenGL). [ 10-24-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  13. LOL..... And I'm making up some of the slack. (BTW, I could really use that old Orion Fleet Handbook, for the new revision, that I'm writing in Badger's absence.) Back on subject, Chris tells me that he'll probably post tomorrow (Update-he says tonite!). Yay! (You can't keep delaying your first RP post, Chris!) [ 10-24-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  14. Chris, don't even ask. It's proabably some Fleet Commander talk for that 'secret' production of fembots they've got. Sheesh, it's not secret, in fact, we've found a whole bunch of fembots inside a cargo bay of Orion Starstation.
  15. I'm not really sure (I'm just a really intelligent and infromed gamer), but I'm thinking it's direct X. Let's see. These are the lines that caught my attention: quote:Couldn't create d3d device Error: DDERR_GENERIC The lines after that have some ID numbers or some code or whatever, but I have no idea what the hell they are..... Shouldn't be the chipset, because nVidia keeps making newer drivers. Make sure you've got the latest ones (Detonator XP x21.83 for Win9x-ME), from this page, and on the downloads thing on the left, select either "Download Driver via FTP 1", or "Windows 9x Driver (v21.83)". Also try Direct X 8a; not sure if you have the "a" revision, from your posts. Get them here Other than that, I'm not sure what the problem could possibly be. (I'm not perfect, remember?)
  16. Shardik, do you really wanna listen to all these old folks talk about "back-in-the-day", when they were in their prime? (j/k) More! Especially from you BCM Beta Testers! I wanna see what kind of stuff you've come up with!
  17. LMAO, you're all fighting over each other. Aren't some of you supposed to be on patrol? (RP) .....Um, if you keep this up, I'll just go get myself ready for the Insurgency to take over......Or the Gams to wipe us all out. *sigh* WTF is all this infighting for? Sheesh. Boys and girls, please don't forget what you joined GalCom for. Unfortunately, I think a few of you have. (/RP)
  18. Nice to see you've stepped up to the plate, Guy. And I'm still waiting for something to happen with Intercorp, folks! Time is money!
  19. Hmm.... Upon reading this message, I also noticed the FAQ was down. SC? Anyway, I'd upgrade your drivers for that nVidia graphics card of yours, and such. And you edited just as I was gonna post! quote:EDIT> I have downloaded it from the downloads section on the BC300ad site. Looks like I need Media Player 7, I was holding off getting that too ;-) Hehe. That'd be your problem, Tim. I'm figuring it has to do with the Intro Movie, but it doesn't matter (you still need it).
  20. quote:BTW what exactly is a vanity email? Do you mean Yahoo, Hotmail etc ie free email addresses? Yep. If you it's one of those free services, like Yahoo, Hotmail, Juno, etc. then it's vanity. There's a specific list that I think they use. Other than that, you should be fine. Hm.... Guybert asked me about his Fleet DB registration, which he got his confirmation email from, but his profile wasn't there. I think he said he asked you, chavik. Anyway, the cmdrid from the link is 275 (he forwarded me the confirmation email, so I could get the link). Anyway, I told him to wait on it, because IIRC, mine didn't go through for at least 1 week after I got the (false) confirmation. Not sure what the problem could be. (That's what he told me you said, chavik. Anyone else?) [ 10-23-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]
  21. LMAO, you guys are just sad. I'll have the money to order, by Friday!!! Yippeee!
  22. quote:I'm sure I will have a lot of questions, and now I'll know where to direct them (Won't have to get SC all worked up this way ) That's what I'm here for. I've got Newbie Duty, for now.
  23. They've got personnel weapons on the BCM Appendix. Link Here Anyway, I'm not sure what to say, Chris. I've stayed out of that subject, for those reasons (it hasn't been done, there hasn't been a BC 'norm' on civilian life)..... I wanna see what some of the older vets say. 24. Jerold (or GD or anyone who can), Can you e-mail me a copy of the final ISS Fleet Command structure? I still need that info. Basically, I need: -Command Chain (FC, Staff Officers), and who is in each position. -Wings and other subdivisions (including Academies and Marine Battalions and whatever). Where they are stationed (I have that, just need to double check with you), who leads them, what each wing's role is. -Any other important fleet info (that isn't classified). And can you send it to [email protected] , please? It's for reference, and since I can't find anything with all that info in one place, I'm just wondering. Oh, and if you don't have a final plan set out, I'll gladly take whatever you have that you can give me. Thanks, in advance. quote:Posted by Cmdr Ristar: Hey Nova, You are right around the corner from me in Florrisant. Hey small universe I guess. I live right in St.Louis now, I used to live out in Chesterfield. Anyway..... Yep. It is a small universe. Cool to see someone from right here, on the boards. Just didn't guess it'd be a former FC.
