Scrivener, I remember reading about that LCD somewhere. It's the DTS 3d Virtual Window. I think someone even made a post about that here on the forums.... There's a contest going on to try to win one of those 15 inch models...... And here's a review of it from Sharky Extreme. It looks promising. I even entered the contest! Wow, 2k... I could get myself a lot for that much.

Hmmm... I'm 14, too!!! '05!!!!

quote:Nova, get you butt in here and explain yourself or you will be confined to sickbay. That'd just get me more medpacks. quote:Also i want to test you: if you really are the newbie welcome wagon you must receive every newbie, OK. If you don't show up i will, so be prepared. I have a life..... I'm only on between 3:30 and 8 PM on weekdays (because of school), and I'm not on sometimes because of the weekends. If I'm not here first for a newbie, so what? At least I let myself get known, and I let them know that there is someone who'll cater to their every question (almost). Update: And I forgot to mention. Every newbie? I don't touch those newbies who have those evil attitudes. If they flame anyone, or start something against SC or someone personally, I won't touch them (and they're probably gonna be banned anyway). As long as they don't start blowing off Derek or anyone, and they want to play the game/get on the community/fleeting, and ask me about something, then that's okay. I'll let them keep their curiosity. That's how I discovered BC, so I'll let them have at least that much. I've greeted several (around 3) newbies who were purged because of vanity emails or whatnot. I'm not one who enjoys to waste my time. If I know that they won't stay in the community, by disruptiveness or lack of sense (incessant swearing and just loving to be "evil"), then that's too bad. Nova, over and out. (And I'm not sure if I'm gonna accept your challenge; life is getting the better of me again, so I might not get to those newbies.) quote:Break out the medikits and call in the shrink. I was high on medpacks again..... That'd only make it worse. Hmmm... How to say this.... I don't like to make myself differentiated by a rank (Welcome Wagon isn't even a rank; shouldn't I be called Public Relations?), or stuff like that. The jist: I don't like getting my ass kissed, in words (and in reality I might add). quote:He does not appreciate being refered to as "The Newbie Wagon" Yes and no. Hmm.... I think it should be used just in front of n00bs, at least. Perhaps if I were given the title, Public Relations Officer, by Orion Fleet..... Then again, common and active users don't address each other by rank, like FC Blades (just Blades, dropping the rank title), though so it wouldn't matter. It's just a matter of preference, and mine isn't a biggie, so no thank you. (Gosh, each time I get high on medpacks, I find my errors are huge, and have to bail myself out later. It's like having an evil, second personality....) buckthesystem, welcome to the community. Ask me any questions if you need help. Fleets, game-wise, community-wise.... I'm pretty wise. quote:(Laracuente's Sig) Do you know that i was born on a September 11. Really!!! LOL!!! I know a couple other people with that same birthday...... --- Hmm... Back on subject: there's still that performance problem, in BC3k. Oh well. I'll just sit and wait for BCM anyway. [ 10-16-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

LOL, it's the greatest cause of our time! Here's two of my favorite ones: (I only included the first paragraph of each, for space.) quote:I can only hope the readers of this letter are as outraged as I am at Lord Fabio S. A. Dumbass. Let's get down to brass tacks: One of the great mysteries of modern life is, Why can't we all just get along? Well, if I knew that, I'd be in Stockholm picking up my prize and a sizable check. To Hell with him! One of his compeers once said, "The Eleventh Commandment is, "Thou shalt acquire public acceptance of Fabio's bitter orations"." Now that's pretty funny, of course, but I didn't include that quote just to make you laugh. I included it to convince you that those of us who are too lazy or disinterested to address the real issues faced by mankind have no right to complain when he and his myrmidons do everything possible to keep grumpy troglodytes abhorrent and crazy. Verily, Fabio's statements such as "There is an international Communist conspiracy to sap and impurify all of our precious bodily fluids" indicate that we're not all looking at the same set of facts. Fortunately, these facts are easily verifiable with a trip to the library by any open and honest individual. The only weapons Fabio has in his intellectual arsenal are book burning, brainwashing, and intimidation. That's all he has, and he knows it. quote:Do you ever wake up in the morning thinking, "Fabio S. A. Dumbass, Esq.'s ability to take advantage of human fallibility to remove society's moral barriers and allow perversion to prosper is astounding?" Well, so do I. But first, I'm going to jump ahead a bit and talk in general terms about how this is nothing new. Then, I'll back up and fill in some of the details. Okay, so to start with the general stuff, my general thesis is that if Fabio's compeers had even an ounce of integrity, they would increase awareness and understanding of our similarities and differences. I'll talk a lot more about that later, but first let me finish my general thesis: In public, he vehemently inveighs against corruption and sin. But when nobody's looking, he never fails to perpetuate harmful stereotypes. As one commentator put it, Fabio believes that homophobic chiselers are inherently good, sensitive, creative, and inoffensive. Sorry, but I have to call foul on that one. Hmm.... There was a really funny one, that went along the lines of his personal secret agents running and cowering, when the truth was revealed or something like that. I'll end with one last one: (RP) Galcom Communications Link........Active Insurgent Communications Link.....Active Frontier Communications Link......Error... Intercorp Communications Link.....Active Intependent Communications Link...Active To: All From: John Doe Because of Spectre Fleet's attitude, I usually don't respond to its values, but this time I'll make an exception. If you disagree with my claim that it is irresponsible to accept everything at face value, then read no further. Spectre Fleet's insinuations are popular among unrealistic, ungrateful mystics, but that doesn't mean the rest of us have to accept them. We must encourage individuals to come out of their cocoons and flourish. If we don't, future generations will not know freedom. Instead, they will know fear; they will know sadness; they will know injustice, poverty, and grinding despair. Most of all, they will realize, albeit far too late, that if one accepts the framework I've laid out here, it follows that Spectre Fleet's remarks are rife with contradictions and difficulties; they're utterly amateurish, meet no objective criteria, and are unsuited for a supposedly educated population. And as if that weren't enough, it is no accident that I myself honestly would have expected Spectre Fleet to at least listen to my side of the story -- and Spectre Fleet knows it. I wouldn't waste my time trying to reinvigorate our collective commitment to building and maintaining a sensitive, tolerant, and humane community if Spectre Fleet's tracts weren't parroted by so many libidinous profiteers, and deep down in our bones, we all know why. Spectre Fleet presents itself as a disinterested classicist lamenting the infusion of politically motivated methods of pedagogy and analysis into higher education. It is eloquent in its denunciation of modern scholarship, claiming it favors noxious, chauvinistic anthropophagi. And here we have the ultimate irony, because it accuses me of being narrow-minded. Does it maintain I'm narrow-minded because I refuse to accept its claim that trees cause more pollution than automobiles do? If so, then I guess I'm as narrow-minded as I could possibly be. Finally, whatever your thoughts or feelings about Spectre Fleet are, I urge you to help me do what needs to be done. ......Complete. Success!!!..... ......End Communications Link... (/RP) Hehehe..... I've been running the Freeware 2.09 DOS version for a while now. I usually get around 15-30 FPS, but after like 10 minutes, or when I start venturing out into other regions, it starts to crap out to what the game marks as 5 FPS, but it seems to freeze for a few seconds at a time (the mouse doesn't move, when you click, the menu doesn't come up like it's supposed to); more like 5 SPF (seconds per frame)..... I'm not in debug, and I used the intro animation patch. No playmods or cheats either. I don't really care anymore (I'll be playing BCM and all), but I thought this was relevant.

I know someone who might want to help unite a group of 'undesirable' castes, and/or overall indies with bad reps. The bad guy/space cowboy sorta thing. Is that what you're thinking? (Ahh, when I was an Indie, I was planning to do the space cowboy sorta act....... Bad to the bone!!.... Okay, kill the flashback.) Back on subject: *ahem* Commander Cypher, where are you!!!!?? (I think I'll send good ol' Chris an E-Mail........) This assassin looks like he'll be gearin' up soon.
-
Happy Birthday (tomorrow), Ep5! 18!!!! Hmm... My cousin's birthday is today (the 13th). You might know him as the lurking, Assassin Commander Cypher (forum username Sebastian)...... Well, I'm doing this while at my relative's house, so I'm keeping it short. Talk to you later.

I still think it's shipping as usual. Anyway, all my stuff that I've ordered from EB usually came 2-5 days before it's ship date.

Yes, demolition. If only I had a faster internet connection, then I'd upload more. I have tons of cool pics from the demo that I'm planning to upload...... But that's after I get my RP archiving done. And I like that 3d Gammulan Logo version, lordDavid! [ 10-11-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

"After all, we're all Galcom." Very true. Now it's time to help our brothers. Wraith and ISS need new recruits now, though. ISS just went over some restructuring, but it's got so few people, that one of it's wings is under Orion's control... (RP) Oh, and Prime can't do all the work. We're an organized military structure (Fleets), and each part, each fleet, has it's job to do. Let's show the bunnies what they're supposed to be afraid of. Why? Because we're Galcom. (/RP) Besides, it's part of the job description, right? [ 10-11-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

quote:If I don't like my crew, can I send them all to shuttles and transporters, ditch them in a gas giant, and still be able to somewhat control the ship myself? I've done that in the Episode 2 Demo, and in BC3k. Seems to work, although I'm not sure how one commander takes control of every single station.... quote:If I launched the R.A.N.D.O.M. weapon at a planet, then transported myself there, could I get a cool view of armageddon? Continuing the one above, I put all my crew in the middle of the desert, and launched a RANDOM... At least they got a good view.
-
(RP) Oh, and wings are now stationed at certain patrol zones. Too bad. Prime's Epsilon wing (lead by Demolition) seems to be the front-line force at the moment, guess you're just going to be all talk then. (/RP) Get your orders and such sorted out with the rest of Prime's forces. Every Fleet needs everyone to get active right now. Multiplayer is looming, and re-structuring/re-organizing is occuring.

quote:The troubleshooting file for the BCM demo episode 1 demo says that an 8 mb video accelerator is the min requirement... 1) Episode 1 Demo used Direct X 7, it didn't have planet models, and didn't have much of the optimizations. That's why it doesn't give you a clear view of the final game. 2) Episode 2 still didn't have a lot of the optimizations. Much of the kernel has still been changed (in the 3 months between when Episode 2 was released and when the game went gold), and your mileage may still vary from version to version. That's why it doesn't give you a clear view of the final game. quote:It's almost like the SC has his fans fearful of saying the wrong thing. Look, I know that there was a lot of crap that went down during the initial release of BC, but chill out SC. (Soback) Download the EP2 demo. EP2 uses dx8 and is basically very close to what the actual game will run like. --- (SC) No its not. Not even close. --- (Josh) Ok, with all due respect to the SC for having produced great games... YES IT DOES. 3) First of all, how can you say that to the man who made the game? Second, how can you be sure, if you don't have the final game yet? DirectX? There's more to a game than the graphics libraries it uses. I guess you weren't a VCF-aholic.... quote:I gather that the answer is "The full version will require a 16 mb video card, and no, the demo is abosultly no indication of whether or not the full game will run at all or well on your computer, this making it slightly useless as a demo." That would have been a usefull, and non-condescending response to my question. Am I correct in my interperetation of the situation? Yes, and no. Yes, it needs 16MB. No, the demo isn't useless. Demo->Demonstration. Hmm... They've had Windows XP demonstrations since early this year, even though development was still in swing (meaning it's in beta). Just like the BCM Demos. Lots have changed since the first demos. Are those WinXP demonstrations useless? The BCM and WinXP demos did what they wanted to: show and display the new features, and show them a tiny, tiny bit of what was to come. (I guess the meaning of demo has changed with online gaming. For more on gaming's effect on terms, see here.) At least you got the answers you needed. I hope you stick around. Multiplayer is gonna rock our universe! Press Release Posted by Cmdr Jeffery Eu, at: Misc. Race/Caste Affiliations ┬╗ Intercorp Newsflash RPing by me, again. (RP) PRESS RELEASE The Intercorp spokesperson has confirmed that the Board of Directors of Intercorp have approved the budget allocation for acquiring offices at various starbases and star station throughout the galaxy. "We are still considering the feasiblitiy and viability of each starbase and/or star station's location. Nothing has been decided yet." he said. This just in, it has also been confirmed that Intercorp has been approached by Galcom's Wraith and Orion Fleet liaison officers with regards to opening up offices on their respective bases. A senior director was questioned and he's answer was ***mumble**mumble*We're still mulling over it***mumble***" END PRESS RELEASE This is Katy Brunett, for The Independent Network. New Press Releases from our Pixan branch, about the development of the highly anticipated, Intercorp Unlimited, are making the wait even harder. The Frontier economy has experienced a boom, as the 'magnet' affect of new, legitimate commerce moving into the various areas of the Frontier. After hearing about Wraith and Orion's plans with Intercorp, we believe that this may have some Galcom ties, but it is still open for speculation. At the moment, the identities of both Liaison officers are unknown. We'll keep you posted. We're returning you back to your regularly scheduled broadcast: Behind the Scenes, With the Outlaw Star. Katy Brunett, TIN, over and out. (cheesy intermission) This is T.I.N. (end cheesy intermission) .........buzzzz........ (/RP) Watch out. Intercorp is (hopefully) planning to be up before or around the time BCM's Multiplayer Patch comes out. [ 10-10-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

Oh, and welcome (back) aboard. Newbie (or vet waking up from hibernation) Welcome Wagon, Nova, Over and out.

(RP) The others? If that includes any Galcom fleets, we'll court-martial your ass out of any fleet, Commander! (/RP) Fleets have gotten more team-based, since you've been gone. The best RPing is yet to come, boy!

Badgerius, and anyone who wants to download BC Studio (the .zip file that used to be on 3000ad.com's BCM Downloads), and the Appendix and Tutorial, come see my Newbie Info Page, and scroll all the way down, to the downloads section. (Note the info there is constantly being updated.) I've mirrored the BCM Appendix (also have an unzipped, 'browsable' HTML copy, see below), the BCM Tutorial (ditto), BC3K Manual, and BC Studio. BCM Appendix (here) BCM Tutorial (here) You don't know how much work I'm putting out to get ready for all those newbies, coming when BCM is on the shelves. (I call it the BCM "Newbie Flood".) I code my HTML by hand, thank you, and I have bad phone lines (limiting me to 27k) and uploaded those downloads (10 MB) yesterday for over an hour.... (You know how big the Galaxy Map images are???? And then there's the BCM Appendix, .ZIPped, and the BC3k Manual, and......) Thank me later once the "Newbie Flood" comes. "Nova's Ark" is being built. [ 10-10-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

Fendi, Soback, I've got AOL. If you're considering it a vanity address, because you can make up to 6 (extra--meaning, other than the master) screen names and delete them and make new ones, then I see. But AOL is an ISP, and well, there you go. (And if AOL was considered a vanity email place, how did you register? Remember? Vanity emails are banned?)

(from what I picked up on NBC yesterday): They found a link, which was a report by some of the other co-workers, that they got a fan mail, with some sticky-powery stuff on it, just days before September 11th. This leads investigators to believe it is a terrorist doing, because the powdered form can still be inhaled, and it makes it easier to send to other people. Another tie with this is that one of the worker's keyboards was detected to have Anthrax spores on it.......... [ 10-09-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

I'll second that motion/threat from Blades. Oh, and happy birthday!
