And I'll be back in the US for July 4th (if I'm sober enough to get there)!!!! Twice the partying for me.........
-
Well, since I've been up here since last week, I'm gonna celebrate too! Canada rules! I just might move here someday (once I get used to using KM instead of miles)........
-
I'm in Canada right now for a wedding. The download screwed the first time, and I didn't have any time for a second try. I'm pretty happy that my friends have cable and a CD Burner. 60.4~100 KB/sec and I'm browsing the internet at the same time!

Sorry guys... I'm up here in Scarborough, Ontario in Canada. I just went to a wedding yesterday. Great to hear some support. Thanks for the input. I'll be back home by mid-week. Canada rules!

BCM Episode 2 demo - What I think
Cmdr Nova replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Game Demo Discussions
Scotty, SC said he didn't implement the realistic flight physics yet, and is WIP. Check the WIP section on the VCF, and it's there, under Newtonian Flight Dynamics (i think). That probably will solve most of your qualms about the game, considering that's what you complained mostly about..... --- quote:Posted by LordDavid: One thing I like about the demo is that on planets, I can see for miles and miles unlike Tribes 2. On some Tribes 2 maps, I can barely see past the gun that is infront of my face due to some strangely dense fog. I had that problem a while ago, myself. It was a driver issue with OpenGL, and it's fogging effects. Since BCM doesn't use OpenGL, but DX8, you don't get that effect with BCM. Try some driver updates, and try updating OpenGL by going to GLSetup.com and installing the newest OpenGL driver for your card. The install program autodetects your card, downloads it's corresponding OpenGL files, and installs it to your system, automatically (so you don't download the wrong thing). Well, 2.8kbps on 3dgamers...... I told you my phone lines were bad. My 56k doesnt even live up to a 33.6k. I've tried changing isps, access numbers, and other stuff. The phone company does say it's the lines... Oh well. At least in 12hrs,11min, I'll have the demo!!! lol..... At least I'm okay with leaving the internet on that long (unlimited monthly access, and all). I hope I'm not missing any important calls....

Well, I'm busy. I seem to agree that the bird fits in. SC said that the GalCom logo had the same terran bird, even though GalCom had other races as well (vice versa with the terran race thing; and SC said it was not up for complaints). I think since the main police force is sided with GalCom, then the bird should stay. And thanks aramike; I like 4 also, but think it needs some touching up on the little coat-of-arms thing in the middle. Will work on it later (will be based on #4).

Wonderfull, Derek! Our call has been answered....... Yay! quote:Posted by nos4a2: Does anyone know E2's size? Um the HC version at FilePlanet is 121.4 MB (according to their download page). Don't see any word of a LC version (see readme file). (stares at 56k modem) Lol, it's gonna be a long night. --- LINKS REMOVED [ 06-22-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] [ 06-22-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

Yep, even now, we still use the same old .18 micron size P6 (intel pentium 1,2, and 3, most amd chips), or .2 micron size P7's (pentium 4). The new chip should be around .05 or less microns, which means we can get almost 4 times power from the same size chip (size wise). The heating is the final problem, which is solved by changing the base to copper/carbon; which is what IBM has been researching since early 2000, and is still in development, due to copper eventually causing some chemical reactions, which ruins the silicon during long periods of time. quote:...anybody know how long it may take...even though its not officially out is it still ready for shipping ? Not officialy out is just scratching the surface. What, do you think the game is done, and they are just waiting for the release date to go before selling? That would be a serious mistake, considering that creating a game is harder than you'd ever think. The new engines, and graphics are cutting-edge, making the process a little tougher. Don't worry, though. They're almost done. The main parts of the game are complete, and will be in the Episode 2 Demo (still waiting--was supposed to be released 6-20 and its now 6-22, due to 3rd-party ftp host problems). A long time back, the original release date was (i think) 5/7/01, and has been tentative. Current release date is 7/2/01. Probably might change, as more of the game gets debugged, and fixed. The dev process and the speed they do it at relys on the Beta Testers, and their wonderful efficiency. I'd be surprised to have even have 1 demo, had SC not started Beta last year. --- For all you newbies, SC is Supreme Commander, aka Derek Smart, creator of the BC games. Supreme Commander is his username here on the message board. [ 06-22-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

Like I said, it's probably in a private directory (or the download directory itself is set to private), and to get in you need an admin username and password.
-
Uh, read the Demo Readme File. First off, the game hasn't gone gold yet. The Version Control File will give you a hint on how much more development is left. In simpler terms, it ain't ready for shipping yet. The VCF (above) also shows work in progress, known bugs, and other stuff still to do before releasing the game. The smaller the list becomes, the closer we are to having the game released.
-
It doesn't work because FilePlanet doesn't have it on that download mirror yet. It's probably on their regular server, but is in a private directory, waiting to be posted by a FP admin, at Derek's command.

k then. I'll try to have something done this weekend (maybe sat. night, sunday).

Hey, yeah. With BCM coming, I can't wait to get in multiplayer and do whatever online. I cant think of any other game to play this summer (well Diablo 2 expansion pack isn't really a game, but you get the point) I only got into the BC universe in December 2000, and I'm still playing BC3k as of now. After playing the 1st BCM demo, I'm getting sorta impaitient for it. See ya later Scotty!

Nice lurk work. 21 posts since Jul 99! That's nearly 2 yrs, and I'm here with 100+ and I've only been here since March! Good job indeed! Just for that, I'm giving you the 5-star rating! Well, I hope you come back to post at least once every few months....... I'll still probably be around, or at least playing BCM or GCO's multiplayer.
-
LOL!!!! Oh, my god.... That was one of the funniest stories I have ever heard! And when was the last time you played/thought of BC before you said that? Was that his real name, and you didn't notice until then, or was his name different, and you just mispronounced it by accident, and then from the deep bellows of hell suddenly remember BC?

Updated logos for Police caste: (note, version 1 was the plain generic police one above) Version 2: http://members.aol.com/commandernovaucv/te...lice-logo-2.jpg Version 3: http://members.aol.com/commandernovaucv/te...lice-logo-3.jpg Version 4: http://members.aol.com/commandernovaucv/te...lice-logo-4.jpg These are the candidates for the Police Caste (terran? any race???) logo. #2 looks a bit too flashy, though. I wanted to see what the fog would do to it when it was done. I could remove it later, if decided. #3 is the same thing, no ships, no fog. Sweet and simple. #4 is #2, without ships. --- Uh, I like 4 the best, but 3 is the simplest version which matches the galcom, and terran logos. I think it would be #3 if it became official. Still waiting for some police person to agree with me. (Spuzzum... Where are you??) --- Update: Fixed some markup errors, and filename misspellings....... Added 3rd & 4th pics. I doubt it's necessary, Ensign. SC already has it up on FilePlanet, and is waiting for the pending site updates. There is no need for a makeshift unofficial ftp server to get it to the official sites, this time. Thank you for your time. [ 06-21-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

Moderator, plz Close Topic (don't delete!!). I've continued the discussion here. Fleet Related Discussions ┬╗ Police Caste

I'm merging another similar topic I started, to here. Topic: Logos Original Forum: Misc. Race/Caste Affiliations Posted by Cmdr Nova: quote:Posted 06-21-2001 01:07 Time for some logo building. First off we want corporations/guilds/organizations, or else the fleet guys and SC won't let us use any logos. I'm thinking up something for the police at the moment. The idea for the GSI (Galactic Special Investigations Bureau) is cool to me, although one for the GalCom Police Force in general would be better. Any ideas Spuzzum? You being the only active RPing and boarding police member here (other than myself), you're the only one to ask at this point. Yeah, and up in Fleet Related Discussions I posted some questions as to the organizations of police caste. Blades thinks we are partially allied with GalCom, much like the police and military of same country are. Here's a draft for a generic police/police organization logo. We'll put an abreviation above the bird (GSI; GPF for GalCom Police Force). It is scaled to the size of the other logos. GalCom's Prime Fleet -> Delta Wing already has one of their own. Time for us indies to have some logo fun of our own. http://members.aol.com/commandernovaucv/temp-police-logo.jpg And don't laugh that I still use AOL. It's so crappy slow, but I'm waiting for cable for now. At least it's faster than geocities, and is more reliable. Even posted some stuff for DeSylva back in march when he wanted some craft pics and the asset guide from the demo. I made some in bcstudio, zipped the pics and guide, and uploaded it here (around 1mb, and the pics are the best i've ever made). [ 06-21-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ] [ 06-21-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ] Posted by Epsilon 5: quote:Posted 06-21-2001 07:14 Hmm... a Terran/police logo? Couldn't it be better if there was a universal police logo? Posted by Cmdr Nova: quote:Posted 06-21-2001 11:42 I think so too. Maybe it would be listed under the "Organizations" logos on the logo page? The picture idea can be converted and added to in many ways to make a general Police logo. That's the best way to go, in my opinion. Since the police are galcom friendly, I used the terran logo as my backdrop, much like Delta Wing (Prime Fleet-Galcom) has. Note: I've decided to add the word Police to the area above the bird. Will post 2nd draft soon. [ 06-21-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ] [ 06-21-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

Baloogan, you lost me there. What link? The only link I found in his post is to the Readme file, and the download links there are to the hosting servers. And, what SC said above, the sites haven't been updated yet. Thanks for shedding light on this, SC.

I'm not sure, but it might be the cooling, as $lik said. Even though room temp is only 80, keeping your cpu active (as in your playing games) for around 1hr nonstop can raise it to nearly 95-100 degrees. Especially when you run a celeron at a pentium 3 speed, it gets sort of hot. I have a celeron 500, and run seti overnight. Once, I upgraded my ram, and I accidently touched the heat sink.... ouch.... (don't worry, the system was off) Thermaltake has some good heatsinks that should help for ram, cpu, and video cards overheating. you can buy them at googlegear.com Also try updating bios.
