  1. They're running an election here for the game of the year for various genres. I wonder what the Simulation of the Year should be...
  2. I'll be getting mine tommorow night. [rp] Urza leaps from his command chair aboard the Weatherlight bridge. "Yes!!! Soon this monumental symbol of power will actually be able to leave the docking bay! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! HAHAHAHAHA!!" more loud cackling laughter The medics promply enter the bridge, jab him with some medpacks. "HAHAhahaha...ha...ha...THUD As soon as Urza is writhing on the floor, the medics haul him down to the medibay. After 15 minutes of insanity there, he is escorted to the detention hold. [/rp]
  3. *bump* Don't blame me, SC started it!
  4. quote: power the country for the next umpteen million years... Whatever device you used to get that much power, I want one.
  5. Lucky bastard.
  6. Sig changed. Are you sure that's the right link? [ 11-19-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  7. When it comes to downloading, file size doesn't really bother me. I could probably download BCM full version overnight. (if it was online) But there I go, bragging about my connection again.
  8. I saw one of those huge BCM boxes in front of EB around two months ago. Haven't seen it since. The employees were pretty good across the board. That EB hasn't moved from it's spot since Marley Station (the mall) was built back in the mid 80s.
  9. I think it would be better if the logos were synchonized...
  10. Color? I thought only admins and moderators could use color.
  11. Is that part about a new patch next week true?

  13. Yeah, isn't he gonna post some kind of speech? Or at least acknoledge this achievement?
  14. We also need a leader here in Pegasus Wing...
  15. Commander Urza and his huge ship of technological achievements and other gadgets and gizmos stand ready, SIR! [ 11-15-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  16. Uh oh, better bring out the newbie welcome wagon... EDIT: Oh, and this is my 300th post! W00t! Yes, tis true I have traversed 300 posts on this notable discussion board. FYI, I think my tradition is to say that only on a milestone post and nowhere else. [ 11-15-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]

    TTFN

I think it means ta ta for now.
  18. Didn't expect to start a whole X-Com discussion. But who's complaining?
  19. Are we just posting blah to get some kind of world record for the "hottest topic"? (no, don't point at this post, smartass)
  20. Uh oh, SC had better check himself, I think he's pissing himself laughing again... There's a DOS program called Mo'slo that (you guessed it) slows down a DOS program. You just type in a special command with the executable, and voila! The game is slower! It's shareware, but I don't know where it is. An internet search will yield results. The only downside is that it may take a few trial runs to get the slowdown amount right. Oh, and slowing down the game also makes load times longer.
  21. It only has two heads...
  22. Oh, I just thought of something. You are listed as "Commander Jaguar", when, in fact, you may not be a Commander. My point is, how do gammulan ranks differ from GalCom ones?
  23. I was going to say this in the old thread, but it's kind of a catch-22 if you catch my drift. [rp] I see, so Jaguar can't handle the facts, so he bails out and closes the thread. Typical Gammulan behavior. When they come, I'll be waiting... [/rp]
  24. Definately. Those things are explosive. Trust me, the commanders are there. You should find about three aliens in the command center. At least one, maybe two are commanders. The others are leaders (in case you still need them) Have you tried X-Com Apocolypse? It's ungodly hard, even on the easiest setting. The alien ships you encounter are far more powerful than anything you could ever hope to get with your limited starting technology. The tech you can research without finding anything is only two techs each (bio and engineering), only two of which (improved labs of both types, which don't help you one bit without something else to research(if all you could spend money on was more money, what's the point?)) have any applications other than getting techs after them in the tech tree. What little tech I did find was almost to completely useless. Bear in mind, that the difficulty is shooting down the ships, not killing the aliens inside (lord knows how hard that is). All on the easiest setting, mind you. Terror from the Deep was good, but the tech seemed too hard to get there, too. For example, you don't get aqua plasics (and hence plastic aqua armor) by just finding some. There's a lot of stuff you have to get first (I don't know, so don't ask), and when I did get it, it was completely by accident. All the sequels rely too heavily on capturing live aliens, in my opinion. The only major qualm I had with the first one was the frequency of tactical missions. All too often, I found my self skipping missions I really should take, or doing it the fast, reckless way, just to get back to the geoscape. The sequels aren't any better, since TFTD involves many 2-parters (including all base assaults) and the final 3-parter. [ 11-14-2001: Message edited by: Urza ]
  25. Alien Commanders are in the command center of alien bases. You need (not need, but very difficult without) small launchers. I've beaten it as high as Genius, but couldn't get it on Superhuman.
