The Hulk was boring. I have a brain slightly larger than a pea and I love Ang Lee movies but the Hulk was a miss not a hit. I have watched Fellini fims sa well as Bergman and of course Kurosawa so I understand plotting and narrative and story, but to compare Spiderman2 to the Hulk is just wrong! I'm on my way out the door to watch it again(without the wife and the Evil One)

Well the Republicans are two for two in installing propped up regimes, one in Iraq and one here. Hooray! -

I think it is hilarious that conservatives cant even admit this was a well made and effective film by a talented filmmaker. People more talented and qualified voted this the best film at the most prestigious film fest in the world and I should give a shit some yokel some where thinks it bad simply because of its point of view? Look honestly I dont agree with a damn thing William F Buckley says but I read him because he's a gifted writer and orator. Same for PJ O'Rourke whos views are way different than mine but is a quick wit and damned amusing. As a film buff I sat through Birth of a Nation which not only was the most racist polemic ever put on film, but also lead directly to lynchings of blacks in cities it was shown. Only the most uninitiated would shrug off the technical brilliance and narrative power of Griffiths work regardless of the stance it took. I guess that is too much to ask of the "New right" though, which is really quite sad.

Carter, Mourners Bury Beloved Young Poet
Kevin Trotter replied to jamotto's topic in General Chatter
Amen to that. He was a brave little boy who spent his short time on earth more productivly and in service to others more than most of us ever will. On a side note; while there is no doubt Reagan was a better president, I think Carter was and is the better human being. -

Wolfie thanks! After getting rid of Aol, I tried again no dice. I then did a hardware check thru settings which indicated a problem with the network adapter card. I got a Belkin 10/100 ethernet card and installed it and the WIN98 drivers and was up and running in no time.
-
Verizon has told me that the IP address is not being read or recognized. They talked me thru reseting the ip address to no avail. They have suggested I replace my ethernet card/network adapter.I still dont know how that would make it so the dial up and usb could or couldnt connect. What could affect all three ways to access the internet?

I had my phone lines checked by Verizon and they checked out okay. The lights on the modem for the dsl were solid right up until it tries to connect to the server

Guys I need help. About a month ago I began having serious problems getting on line. My dial up service would actualy dial the acess number, but there would be no accompanying modem tone. After a few minutes a messsage saying connection failed would appear. After three days, five calls to AOL tech support, nothing they did helped. I then decded to switch to a DSL. I got my westell 2200 modem followed the onscreen directions and ...got the message connection failed.More tech support calls to Verizon and after trying everything finally disabling my ethernet card and trying to connect using the USB port. still no luck. What could be causing me connection problems in the telephone line, USB hub and the ethernet port? Can anyone help me? I have no internet access at home and until 3 july am paying both Verizon and AOL. HELP!

Dan, I knew that faith would prevail. Blessings to you and your family. Things worked out the way they were supposed to. You already know how I feel but let me say congratulations again!

Maybe he is smarter than I thought he was, he's smart enough to have fooled you into thinking he isnt out of his depth. Or perhaps am underestimating how smart you are. Seriously though, I dont think that you have to be a genius to be president, but you should have some intellectual capacity, and Bush has very little. The Reagan comparison is not valid because from what I know of him he was a self made man who was an overachiever. He did not benefit from having everthing given to him.
-
OBoy! Democrats hate Bush because he is an intellectual lightweight who makes decsions without the benefit of understanding thier impact, because he is a corporate shill, political opportunist, and a lackey for Wolfowitz, Rumfield, and Cheney who are war mongerers and war profiteers. Whats to hate/ We shouldnt be upset that the GOP wishes to twist Kerry's war record and make it appear that Bush was some kind of patriot instead of a rich boy hiding from combat. Yes Kerry has flip flopped on some issues but that tells me he is seriously considering complex issues instead of blindly being following where he is being led. These issues and thier implications are fluid and require someine with more than rudimentary problem solving skills. Bush failed at every endeavor he tried until he bought the statehouse in Texas and had his brother Shanghai the votes of an entire state to become President. That is why we have issue with him. Has nothing to do with blind hate. My eyes are wide ****ing open.

I feel sorry for Bachus, he seems to be the only legit guy in the bunch. I'll still bet the working model of a Klingon disrupter hits the market first.

Survivor: All Stars - You can give Rupert $1m !
Kevin Trotter replied to Scrivener's topic in The Arts
I'm sick of the whole lot of them save Rupert. i'd like to shove Boston Rob out an airlock. -
I feel you. I got confined to base one day before my birthday and decided I didnt want to miss my own birthday party so I was smuggled off the base in the trunk of my friends car. When I got back I was so shitfaced that I walked through the front gate. The only thing that saved me was my roomdog being on gateguard duty that night God bless him. Oh I miss those days! I woke up the next day to find a full mixed drink in my jacket pocket.

Night in front of the telly - Touching Evil

Just took a break from watching my first episode to thank SC andd the rest for hipping me to this great show! -
I dont think they allowed nearly enough room for chicanery

I used to love this show but I'm afraid it seems to have jumped the shark. I can barely watch any scene with David Palmer or his pain in the ass brother in it. Kiefer is the saving grace and I will continue to watch based on the strength of the last two episodes, but...

I must say I was quite critical of the first movie after seeing it on TV. I thought Reeves was stiff the dialogue was pretentious and the plot was stilted. After reluctantly buying all three films, biding my time to find a weekend to watch all three back to back to back, I finally got see them.... Fellas, I was wrong. I am converted. The triology is one of the classics of science fiction and well worth all the hype. While not on the level of LOTR it is still a worthy contribution to the genre. My wife watched the last two and cried at Both of Trinity's death scenes. She turned and looked at me and said " This is a love story, the difference was the love of Trinity and the little girls parents, that's what saved Zion" I dont know about that but the wife hates Sci fi but loved these two movies. The word is TRANSCENDANT and it fits. Kudos to the Wachoski bros. and I apologize to everyone I thought was a geek for liking these films.

Ha,Ha! If I start making anymore than I am now I'll have to consider voting Repulican! LOL! (note: That was a joke) Thanks Jag, Ben, Dan and Fox, and all the other great folks around here. SC you are so right, I got to meet my staff today( who did not know they were getting a new boss) and the intro went over like a Hogan's Heroes film festival at a Bar mitzvah. Hopefully better days are ahead.
