  1. What about the Firemans Association that said pretty much the same thing? Does everyone who disagrees with Bush have to be immeditaely discredited?
  2. I can almost guarantee on your deathbed you will not be thinking of chaos theory.
  3. So let me get this straight: Republicans good guys Democrats bad guys? Republicans standing for prudence (repression) and morality? There's a clear objective point of view! i wont make the same mistake, let the Repubs continue to demonize anyone different it seem to be what they do best. The question is flawed as there are differences within both parties. For instance John McClain and Bush are different just as John Glenn and John Kerry are different. To me Democrats have always been more concerned with the least of us (somtimes to thier own detriment, homeless people dont vote)and Republicans interest hve always been skewed toward the priviliged. That is probably the reason tradtional minorities never seem to fit in the GOP's tent. The Republicans have never been able to sell themselves as compassionate because that is not one of thier core beleifs. They have always been more comfortable using the lower class as a club to scare the middle class. Conversely Democrats have deemphasized traditional family values, and spirituality to appeal to a broader base. This like the feigned compassioante conservatism of the Republicans,is a fatal flaw. Personally I have always been a democrat but would like to think my mind is open enough to see and recognize the truth whether it comes from the left or the right.
  4. So I guess in a nutshell, the people who lost family members on 9/11 are only entitled to an opinion if it happens to agree with the Admin. Otherwise thier feelings are discredited and written off as a political ploy. You people are unbelievable! And BTW, everyone who disagrees with "certain opinions" does not have thier head in the sand, they simply view things differently. That is still allowed in this country isn't it? Thier is NO ONE in this community who is right on every issue and morally superior. Everyone is wrong about something and anyone who believes thay are incapable of being on the wrong side a debate needs to seriously consider therapy.
  5. Faith cannot be quantified. God or His existence is beyond human understanding. Like $ilk, I guess I could explain the events in my life that led me to God as coincidences, but I know better. No one here is going to convince a non-believer who relagates spirituality to some form of moral counseling, and certainly a true beleiver with Faith will not be swayed by any amount of scientific research. I know God is the creator, and that knowlwedge alone is comfort enough for me. It matters little whether everyone believes the same, althhough I will continue to pray for those who dont, since that too is my preogative.
  6. This is pretty good......(reaches for second bowl of popcorn and a pint) I 'm staying out of this one.
  7. Warcrap 3 on the list? Proof positve you can polish a turd.
  8. I for one will not shed a tear over Mr Sterns profane and infantile antics being closed down here in PGH. I do have a problem with the fact that Clear Channel just found out what they are pedaling. The truth is Porn is big business and the more money thay make the more difficult it will be to rid our airways of this filfth. Cable and Satellite companies are making hundreds of millions of dollars and the purveyors of this stuff will soon have a lobby powerful enough to start legitmizing this smut. Personally, I dont know who the bigger whores are, the unfortunate porn actresses who appear on Stern's show, or the companies that buy time on the network.
  9. Oh. My bad, Check PM
  10. Fox I understand your point, However i also realize there are a wealth of games already out that I would like to play(some of which I already own)and cant. I also think that with that much cash invloved they would have thought about the upgrade issue as well. And finally most of the people on this board are on the cutting edge of gaming, spend lots of money and time on games, and this product seems aimed at a more casual gamer who doesnt want to crack the case on thier PC every six months.Thier are people like that ,just not on this forum (except me). Besides you were supposed to look at my rig when you were in town and spent all of your time playing Halo on my CONSOLE. (ha,ha)
  11. That's wonderful for all you folks with the know how but taking advice from a lot of you and upgrading and taking my rig in to be diagnosed and having three different people say three different things are the cause and I still have a number of games still unplayed . I know some of you have careers in this field and it is easy for you but not me. It would be like me trying to talk you through conducting a DSM IV/PCPC evalaution to a third party administrator on a client. Be sure to list multiple diagnosis on axis one, dont forget to include a GAF global assesment of functioning score as well as any DS9 codes to indicate current status of client functioning. Review all psychotropic administration to ensure no adverse reactions. Assess for possible self destructive behavior, and makes sure you also screen for possible detox factors. Does the client have a CIWA/IA score greater than 10, any coocuring medical conditions thatwould preclude level 4a Tx? Does that make any sense to you? probably not. Just as some of the instructions I got from my buddies in getting my games running was Greek to me. Look if a 1.3 ghz was dedicated to just running games would that nearly double XBox's current capacity? No background programs running no thing but gaming priorities. I JUST WANT TO PLAY, not reinvent the ****ing wheel!
  12. Ouch, I know what Fox's idea of reciprocation is and it aint pretty.
  13. Sorry to disappoint you EL Che but I was law enforcement, not security. I drove around the base in a prowler handing out traffic tickects, detaining drunken sailors at Fleet landing and cathcing officers kids shoplifting in the Base exchange. However once a month we had to take a Sec roto (that's security rotation , for you civilian types) and hump aircraft on the flight line. Mostly EP3's and some other birds I cant tell you about without snapping your neck. (ha,ha)My claim to fame was once coming to port arms on a Bird Col. who forgot his authority to enter access badge and tried to get on the AC anyway. Not on my watch. I had him on his knee's hands behind his head waiting for the A flight commander to clear him. I learned some new cuss words that day!
  14. OUCH! Please elaborate.
  15. Well here goes: I'm 44 Married 10 years Veteran of the USAF Security Police One lovely daughter/ AKA The EvilOne Currently unemployed Outpatient Therapist Homeowner Love Science Fiction, detective novels and the Pittsburgh Steelers, am still flumoxxed by my gaming PC but hanging in there. 16. While browsing trhough the latest edition of Game Informer, I perused an item on the ApeXtreme, PC game console. It boasts that 2000 PC games can be played on it and that patches will be downloaded and applied automatically, using a "drop and Play" technology simalar to PS2 and XBox. Whats more unlike the Phantom, gamer's must actually buy the games the traditional way as no preloaded games are added. It is managed by a Windows XP embedded OS, has a 1.3Ghz processor and the graphics chipsets are made by none other than VIA Technology, who is also a partner with DISCover and Apex electronics. It also plays WAV files, Divx, MP3's DVD's and most cd formats. It has a built in Ethernet conncetion and 6 USB ports to go along with S-video and phillips type connectors. It is designed for either a traditional monitor or the current TV formats. I know how much some of you guys hate consoles, but I feel if more people who may not play PC games due to the learning curve involved are introduced to our little obsession, the better. I love PC games but am daunted by the work involved sometimes with getting them to run. The price for this thing is 299.99 for the entry level model and 399.99 for the high end model. They were shown at CES and will ship in March. I am getting one ASAP, but I am curious what you guys think.
  17. I know the feeling. i dont even TRY to take anyone anymore, not even the wife. There is a few theaters here in PGH sponsored by the Pittsburgh Filmmakers project that show these types of films, and the last time I tried I took my wife to see John Sayles "Limbo" which i thought was brilliant, but she thought was "stupid" due to its ambiguous, possibly downbeat ending. Now its my special treat to see a film I want to see alone. I no longer care to "enlighten" anyone and in doing so ruin my own experience. They also sshow classic films the way they are meant to be seen. Last year I saw Spartacus on the big screen (as it was meant to be seen.) Stick to your guns Scriv.
  18. Loved City of Lost Children, I can't wait for my four year old to be old enough to enjoy it with the old man. I'll keep an eye for the Triplets. BTW if you like weird, keep an eye peeled for Bubba Hotep with Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis. Campbell plays an over the hill Elvis locked away in an old folks home and infected with cancer. Davis plays ..John F Kennedy, don't ask me to explain just see it.
  19. I just know you computer wizards probably have a perfectly good laptop you dont use anymore just laying around. As my own laptop (A first generation Toshiba Sattelite)died an honorable death, who wants to sell me thier old one? (Yeah ,you too SC)Due to my present reduced circumstances I cant make you rich but I'll be fair. SOMEBody has a 800Mgz Pentnium III that aint using and i want it Apply within.
  20. Jag you have more knowledge than faith. I happen to beleive our country is at risk(just from different forces than the one you mention) I also beleieve in the goodness of the American people and that we will persevere. I recognize that you may view this belief as laughable but that's what I beleive....Gee Jag we ain't had one of these in quite awhile!
  21. Really who cares. It's sad that we have to endure a blow by blow description of thier every move. They are both people of moderate talent that should feel lucky they have risen as far as they have and we the public should be smart enough to friggin ignore them. This whole country needs an IQ boost and fast.
  22. Plainly put (and I hope you are not suggesting that either you or i are the intellecual equal of Emerson) That conservatives cling to the same ideas and refuse to entertain the possiblity they could be wrong. There is in some conservatives a sneering presumption they are morally and intellectually superior. You are a very, very smart guy Jag and have my respect, but not one time have I heard you admit to being wrong. Smart isnt infallible and infallible you are not. I hold my beleifs as deeply as you do, but admit to not knowing all the answers and have even had my opinions change based on things YOU have said. As far as MLK as a Conservative, my wife is still rolling on the floor laughing at that one, try again. Do not mistake his moderate nature for conservatism. If he was alive today do you really think he'd vote with the same party that reelected Strom Thurman for 50 some years? get real. watch the recent PBS special on King's life if you can tear yourself away from Fox news long enough and get back to me. As far as Emerson here's another quote."There is always a certain meanness in the argument of a conservatve" Gee Jag its almost like he knows you!
  23. Excuse me I stand corrected, that is definitely PROOF of the vast liberal media if I ever saw it..now about that swamp land in Florida..
  24. I dont care who they signed up, no one has seen a beta unit, a factory they are being built or anything save hot air surrounding this thing. Only an idiot would sign up to preorder something that dont exist. I'd just as soon sign up to preorder a Klingon disrupter, at least I've actually seen a mock up that wasnt a 3-d rendering. What a maroon!
  25. Stop being coy Jag he's just a kid and you know very well who the rich are and the ones he is focusing on. Prior to my recent layoff , my wife and I came pretty close to that 100K a year and that aint rich. We are referring to those households at single digit percentage that has the majorityof the wealth in this country and intend to keep it. One of the ways they do that is to imply that YOU too can be like us. This wool has been pulled over middle class eyes so much its becoming threadbare. I recently read a piece in the LA Times that chronicled the long relationship between the Bush family and the oil barons of the middle east. All very cozy going back to Granddady Prescott all the way up to our President. This is the rich we refer to. To try to strech that too fit the upper middle class is ludicrous. BTW I too have read Sowell. He is a very smart man who I of course disagree with on every major point. He and I as African Americans have had our political views shaped by the same influences with radically different results. I am a liberal because I was influenced by people who's beleifs did not jibe wit conservatives. I have read and reread ML.King, WEB DUbois, Ralph Waldo Emerson who said of Conservatism "Its fingers clutch the fact and will not open its eyes to see a better fact..it it distrusts nature,it thinks there is a general law without a particular application- law for all that does not include anyone" Sound familiar? That was written in 1841 (" The Conservative")and still so true.
