  1. Been tracking this for a bit. Now it appears that it's just a Global Agenda (I gave I absolutely do not like) clone. What do you think?
  2. Yah, been meaning to pick that up. Just been too busy.
  3. We no longer have the boxed Universal Combat Collectors Edition version for sale, but you can probably find it on eBay or Amazon. Be very careful when doing that 1.0 to 2.0 update because some people don't pay attention and a lot of things go wrong. Plus, it will only work with the 1.01.04 patch. Plus, that free update that you found will only work with the Digital River v1.00.0.5 So you have to purchase the DR 1.00.05 version and install it, then apply the 1.01.04 patch, then apply the 1.0x to 2.0 patch. Good luck. If you have issues with the license key, read this KB Article #19 My advice is that if you don't need multiplayer (you'd have to find someone to play it with, for starters), you are better off just getting the full v2.0 version.
  4. While we're using a realistic physics engine (Newton Dynamics Engine), no two objects have the same properties. So a character falling from a 100 story building (e.g. in Nightbridge) will not fall at the same rate as a vehicle going over a cliff, a fighter falling from the sky etc. The issue here is that we're just not going overboard with the physics because we want the game to be fun.
  5. If you haven't yet, please play the demo for All Aspect Warfare (though a different game with different engine, mechanics etc, I am not straying far from how things are done in terms of weapon handling) and see if that answers your question because yes, sniper shots - particularly to the head are in fact lethal. Rockets have integrated splash damage so the closer you are to the center of the blast, the more damage they inflict. Rocket someone to the face and, well, they die. The game has no leveling. It is purely skill based and your higher rank doesn't mean squat in terms of skill. There is no "unlocking" of anything. The FAQ has a lot of info on that. No sonic boom. No. You should get out more. This is only a game. And even though we are using Newtown physics engine, we're not mad. To a certain extent, yes.
  6. No. There is no MP upgrade path to 2.0. That version simply does not have MP at all. The link you pointed out is an upgrade from UCCE to UCCE 2.0. In UCCE you can set waypoints for all units. I don't see a question there. Yes Digital River or Direct2Drive Since the game is no longer supported, whatever issues (we don't know of any) are lurking won't be fixed.
  7. ...but still no multiplayer
  8. Some issues addressed over here
  9. There will be markers up to a certain distance. Beyond that distance, you either have to rely on eyesight or Tactical Warning System (TWS) inventory item (yes, you have to buy it) which immediately gives you the direction/location that a shot (that hit you) came from. If some guy is sniping you from a mile away, you won't stand a prayer of a chance. Which is why you shouldn't be standing around gazing at the scenery.
  10. We will have breaking glass; so conceivably if they are tagged to break, they will. However, we're not going to do that for those skyscrappers because that would be a major performance hit due to all the physics and such involved.
  11. OK lets take the discussion over to the correct page.
  12. New blog is up at http://lodmmo.com btw, that hooded guy in some of the shots is the Insurgent sniper class.
  13. Guys, shots DO NOT do that justice. Trust me on this
  14. Blog explaining these shots will be up later today. But for you forum denizens, here is a peek at the shots
  15. If you have 6-8GM memory and Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit, you'll be set.
  16. I got busy with stuff, so this won't be up until next week. It will be good.
  17. Heck, I wouldn't make a decision based off my design docs! ps: A blog update is coming in a day or so. The shots will make you.....ok, I'm not going to spoil the surprise.
  18. That appears to be caused by an incorrectly patched version. Uninstall, re-install and patch properly using the correct version.
  19. The answer to most of your questions is already in the FAQ. Specifically this section. There are no "toons" in the game. Even the marine clones which can be hired, are so expensive and hard to obtain, that it is not likely that there will be many of them in the game world. Even so, they do not count as clients and thus do not affect the player limit. Faction info over here. The game is pure PvP for the most part. Combat between guilds of the same faction is not allowed because that is not the theme of the game and thus is considered friendly fire and comes with very stiff penalties. Asset info over here. Player assets including everything ranging from weapons and inventory to vehicles and housing. While there are large prefabs availabe for those who can afford to buy and maintain them, there are no plans to introduce major bases for player ownership. Also, these F.O.B and F.A.R.P units are not primarily vanity units because stocked properly, they operate just like a standard base because they are geared towards guilds, though individuals can own them too. Just because one of these can only support a certain number of players inside, doesn't prevent others from lingering outside (in the terrain) since these are not instanced. Player housing info over here, If the owner is not online, it is protected. This means that it cannot be destroyed, nobody can enter it etc. If a guild owns it, then the guild leader can give another player the ability to unlock it. That protection costs money in the form of insurance that, like the lease, is paid periodically. These assets are just standard objects which, like buildings, vehicles etc, can be destroyed in the same fashion. Since it would require some specific ordnance (missiles) to destroy them, it's not something that is as easy as it sounds. There is no "stuff" in these units. Its not like you can buy flower pots and such. So if they are destroyed, you're not losing your inventory items and such, since they are not stored there - they are virtual items which are part of your account, not your building. This may change of course since we're still in development. To the extent that if you kill someone you can nab whatever inventory they have, yes. Assuming you can carry it. However, you can't take stuff that are tagged with the player's ID. This is not a game where you're going to be running around with 50 weapons in your bag. Nope. You can carry up to 3 weapons at the most, 4 and tons of ammo if you have a backpack. And if so, your movement is hampered by the weight of all the crap you're carrying around. There is no end game, other than the will to survive. To the military minded, taking a base is end game enough - and its not as easy as it sounds. Plus, the game is designed for hosting periodic ad-hoc events. For e.g. the first event we're going to host upon release centers around the Nightbridge base and what happened to it. It will be EPIC. Not saying anything else beyond that. There are resources. There is crafting, but not in the standard context for other MMO games. This is not a trading game and we don't care about an economy. It is not that kind of game. This is the game that we're building and it's not designed or developed to cater to everyone. So it may not be for you. You will have to wait and see. All the games you listed were not developed by us. And you can't paint everyone with the same brush; especially considering that we've been successfully developing games for much longer than most who are focused on money grabbing rather than catering to an install base.
  20. That is because occupants of a craft - just like in real life - can get injured dependent on the impact damage on the craft they are in. Also, train your pilots by sending them out on sorties more often as that beefs up their AI You're playing an older build of the FREE version. The free version of UC is light years removed from the latest CE version because a lot of revisions (AI, tweaks etc) have gone into the series since that 2004 edition. If you want to enjoy the latest, get UCCE (if you want multiplayer) or UCCE v2 (if you have the computing power and don't care about multiplayer) You can't. There is more to it than just changing a ship model. Each turret and entity in a craft is controlled by a script and AI module which it tied to the number of entities defined in the model.
  21. Given the scope and scale of the game, it would be crazy to not have some sort of public (invite only) Beta testing.
  22. Please take this discussion into the AAW game discussion forum.
  23. There will be a health + armor system. The only way you are going to die instantaneously is if you get shot in the head. If you haven't already, download and play the All Aspect Warfare demo. Try it and seen because it will be something like that. when I download the demo it asks for a username and password from server104.byteadmin what is the username and password Download the full v1.00.06 version and the 1.00.25 update. Install the full demo first, then run the update.
  24. Which game are you playing exactly? There are several in the series.
