  1. You know, the latest version of Playmod, which was released with this last patch, works fine. You might want to save your game, then use Playmod to boost your crew's AI
  2. POSTING RESTRICTIONS In case you were wondering how you would get tech support for legitimate issues, once you have your posting rights rejected, turn to the inside cover of the BCM manual. There's your answer. Several of us monitor that email address; and while the first one is an auto-responder, a script checks for subsequent emails from the same source and flags it for human reply. Don't expect anything different if you don't follow the instructions sent to you. This board was setup as a means of interaction, sharing of ideas, tech support etc - but some fools seem to thing that I setup rules and regs (which pretty much everyone follows; except for a few renegades who think I owe them something) for the sheer fun of it. This board is clean and well organized because of those rules. From time to time, I grant amnesty to folks whose posting rights were restricted. You may, from time to time, send a reminder to [email protected] to restore your posting rights. If you were banned, you stand zero chance of ever posting on this site again. So, don't waste your time. FORUM ARCHIVES I have setup an archive forum which contains all important threads. I will be adding to this forum from time to time. If you come across a thread which you think should go in there, send me the link via private message. REGISTRATION PROFILES If you wish to update your registration profile info (e.g. you upgraded your system), just login and update it. FORUM PROFILES I have it once too many times, check your UBB forum profile and REMOVE your CDKEY from it. That key is only required when you are registration the first time on the board. It then gets removed when you are approved. Some folks are going back and putting that number in there. Your profile is viewable to everyone and your CDKEY can be stolen. If that ever happens, you will find yourself unable to access multiplayer servers and other services which rely on that key. If any key disputes arise, you will be required to show proof of BCM purchase in order to claim ownership. I have come across instances where some idiots are buying the game from EB, installing it, cracking it (SafeDisc of course), writing down the key, and returning the game to EB. What these clueless yahoos don't realize (nobody can be that dumb) is that those returns are NOT recycled. They go right back to the warehouse and the Tyvex sleeve containing the CDKEY, returned to us. That key is then invalidated and entered into a database. The Tyvex sleeve and CDKEY are then replaced, the product repackaged and then put back in the warehouse for shipment to retailers as required. Guess what? Just recently, I've come across three such instances where people are attempting to use those stolen keys. Not only do I have their names, addresses, email addresses etc, so do their ISP and the FBI's fraud division as well as the SPA. With the recent FBI crackdown on piracy, don't be surprised if you get a knock on the door one day and have all your computer equipment impounded.
  3. Probably reproducible on your end. Works fine here. Send in the saved game and I'll take a look see
  4. quote: Originally posted by Spider-man: soon. very soon. (hopefully no new patches for a while). Don't worry, the save game format won't be invalidated until the mp patch. There will be at least one more patch prior to the first Beta mp patch (Beta testers get it first, of course).

  8. Just ignore him. He doesn't have a clue how it works. Ask him to reproduce it and see what he comes back with. heh
  9. quote: Originally posted by Epsilon 5: Fighters with 30% guns would act as supressing fire, to scare off the enemy and destroy them. heh, not if someone was smart enough to be totting an LR12 or at the very least, plop a PRL near the strike zone. Then of course, you have the SAMs and SALs at the base to worry about.

I've just revoked your posting rights indefinitely. Next time, read my announcements (re: putting your sys info in your sig) And I forgot to mention that even if I had asked you to send me your files, they would still have been deleted because you didn't follow ANY of the procedures for sending in saved games - AND - you sent incorrect files, in the wrong folders etc quote: 1/31/2002 17:30 1,156 ALLIANCE.TXT 1/22/2002 17:37 4,530 appcompat.txt 1/31/2002 17:33 64,363 bcgfxdebug.log 1/31/2002 17:30 2,451 bcmconfig.ini 1/31/2002 17:33 12,234 BCMDEBUG.LOG 1/29/2002 17:38 791 BCMSETUP.INI 9/24/2001 10:00 33,702 BCMSFX.INI 9/24/2001 10:00 6,356 BCMXPL.INI 1/31/2002 17:39 21,412 DxDiag.txt 1/31/2002 17:36 2,359,350 LoginError.bmp 1/31/2002 17:31 1,918 PLAYER.LOG 1/30/2002 20:20 1,203,787 PLAYER0.SG9 1/31/2002 17:43 1,203,083 PLAYER0.SGD 2/01/2002 16:11 2,619 profile_docking_ctd.txt And lets not forget that you are also running the game in DEBUG mode. 11. In that scenario above, I'm gonna be the guy who makes a beeline for the Ter/Ins base...and wait (sniper rifle locked and loaded) for the first b*astard to return with that cargo pod.

  14. quote: Originally posted by Hellbinder: There are'nt that many players available to play in my specific fleet. And hey its a LOOOOOONG time until BCO comes out. It could happen.... it could..... My point was that only FCs can invite members to play on a fleet server. So, being IN a fleet does NOT guarantee this access. But, since anyone can setup their own servers, you don't need to play on a fleet server. As for my post, it is quite clear. If you don't get it don't post. Why is that hard? 15. In this sample scenario, all players currently in the server staging area would select their career and asset. Once the game clock countdown stops, everyone in the staging area is spawned at their base. Some similar scenarios won't have assets. And all players would have to go find an asset (milling around the base) to command if they wish. As in the sp game, the assets you can control are dependent on your caste selection (e.g. an EFM won't be able to control a fighter). And once you lose your asset, thats it for that scenario. I'd be interested in hearing some strategies for playing this scenario. Notice that you are forced to team play....unless you want to get killed; a lot. quote: [sCENARIO] SEARCH & RESCUE [TEAM A STATS] RACE/CASTE : TERRAN/MILITARY CAREERS : EFM / MIM / PSP / EFP ASSETS : ATV, LAV, SENTINEL, ICMK2, PAS1, PAS2 WEAPONS : ALL BASE : EARTH SB1 [TEAM B STATS] RACE/CASTE : TERRAN/INSURGENT CAREERS : EFM / MIM / PSP / EFP ASSETS : ATV, HAV, CORSAIR, ICMK1, PAS1, PAS2 WEAPONS : ALL BASE : EARTH SB2 RESPAWN : 2 DURATION : 30 MINUTES [OBJECTIVES] A Terran Military transport was recently shot down about five miles from EARTH SB1. The Ter/Ins team is tasked with killing the four crew members and either retrieving the cargo pod or destroying it. Each team member is only allowed to spawn up to two times after being killed. After being killed twice, you become an observer until the scenario ends. 18. After I read this, it became apparent that thread has the potential to be misused and abused. My first post was CLEAR. It didn't say ANYTHING about wishlist features NOT currently in sp mode - apart from those ALREADY discussed (comms chat, playing item/money exchange) and noted elsewhere. If this continues, I will delete the thread and just work this out with my Beta testers since the rest of you can't be trusted to follow the rules. 19. Please edit your post and remove the sound bit. Then go paste it in the soundfx issues thread.

  21. This thread is for the discussion of your mp expectations within the realms of the sp game. It will greatly influence how far I go in BCM mp as opposed to XP1 mp as they differ (vastly) from my BCO plans. The rules remain the same. Post off-topic and/or any farfetched nonsense in here, and it will be categorically deleted. You may want to refer to other threads which have mp discussions, for some background notes. I often see the base disappear and be replaced by the damaged model. It's not really a big deal though. Takes a couple of seconds for the damaged model to come up. Ground attacks are currently out of my league, so I can't comment on ground defenses. Use OTS, man. The jetpack flight dynamics work as designed. Do a search for 'jetpack' in both VCFs for further notes. The swapping of one model for the next, works as designed. The damaged model won't be swapped out until the previous model cleanup is done, then it gets re-loaded - from disk. [ 02-04-2002, 19:10: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

  24. I was cruising around for drivers and came across this site which seems to have new SB Live! drivers, including the FULL Liveware 3.0!! http://www.warp2search.net/download.php?op...download&sid=16
  25. quote: Originally posted by Duncan Idaho: Dual boot could be a way: But I upgraded to XP specifically to (hopefully) fix a set of problems with this game. I'd consider a new stick, but my new MS Sidewinder Force Feedback isn't just a 30$ stick, and replacing it with an equal would cost just as much. Grinned and bore it as much as I could. Unfortunately, I can't seem to get the hang of the reversed controls. (I suspect 15+ years of hard flight simming, and my age, have something to do with that). As for whining, guess I am, a little. My real whine is with Microsoft, who say they don't intend to make a profiler for XP for the hardware they still sell as new today. Nice way to support their new spiffy OS. Bye for now. Idaho Well, I dunno what to tell you. If you upgraded to XP and you're still having problems, then you might just want to consider scrubbing the system. I mean, if you did an upgrade, rather than a new install, then proceeded with the same drivers etc etc, you're still going to inherit problems. So far, I have yet to see a single person complain about game problems under WIN2K/XP. So, your assertion is quite puzzling. Further, I don't see any recent tech support postings regarding problems you are having; even though I recently setup a new thread etc. As for the stick, well then, the stick in BCM operates as designed. I do NOT plan on changing it. If you can learn how to play a different game, you should very well adapt to the controls of that game. BCM has space and planetary environments, along with joystick controls for different crafts in both environments. The default stick mappings are quite adequate for all cases. If you don't like it, thats just too bad. And if MS say they're not doing profiles for their stick, well, go ***** at them, please. I do NOT see what ANY of this has to do with BCM. And I don't give flying crap about your friends. If some person decides not to buy a game (which they have YET to play) because they can't change the control scheme, well then, their loss ain't it? Now, please get OUT of this thread so that it can go back on topic. When I come back, I'm deleting EVERY off-topic post in here. This is NOT a tech support thread, nor is it a thread to lament about what you can and cannot do in BCM. If you are NOT in the game, then you CAN'T post about How well your gaming is going. As such, ANYTHING short of that notion, is OFF TOPIC. Didn't I recently restrict your posting for just THAT? ...and your sys info profile isn't even updated. It still shows your older stats, though you claim to have upgraded to winXP. C'mon Duncan, I'm running OUT of patience here. I truly am. I mean, I know you're an age old gamer and all (assuming your profile is not a load of bollocks), but you've really got to keep up. [ 02-04-2002, 16:57: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
