If it weren't for them, you'd have seen a lot more than 14 bugs in the shipped game. Trust me on this. And if you had ANY doubt that this is a low number compared to the ones they found and which we fixed, read this and thank your lucky stars. The Beta guys would be playing the mp patch at least a month of more before it ever goes public. Long enough to ensure that all known exploits are extinguished. The issue with the shuttle is trivial. I just didn't want to ruin a perfectly good feature by plugging it. There is nothing wrong with using a shuttle if the CC is badly damaged. But of course, folks will use this feature even if it isn't. So, am going to come up with something soon. Probably related to the number of jumps that it can do, take the weight of the CC into a/c, deplete the shuttle reactor charge quicker etc. I won't kill the feature, I will just make it less likely to appear to be an exploit. Which, when you think about it, it really isn't.

  3. If you can't play AVI's (which is what the explosions, flux fields etc are), then your system does NOT have the correct Microsoft Codecs which are installed by Media Player 7 or higher. In fact, go into the GFXAVI folder and try to play the files in there using MP. If you can't, then thats the problem. You may have a lot of crap installed on your machine, including rogue codecs. Can't help you there am afraid.

I've only been able to land once with no damage on flat ground area. And all the bridge crew appear as males in FP I believe even though some are female. I can't be sure until I double check. 1. Depends on the ship 2. Yeah, and? Who said it was supposed to be perfect? If thats the case, why would you be allowed to fly? You HAVE to know how to use it and when. Just like everything else. 3. Whatever it is you're smoking, have you got any left? How you could possibly tell male from female, seeing that they wear a standard suit, puzzles me. Lay off the weed.
  5. I have no problems with 1.0.01 final saved games. Nor do the dozens of testers back here. Or anyone else for that matter. So, I dunno what to tell you. I'm stumped. You might want to re-download the patch. If you haven't read my announcement for today, then you won't know that you no longer need the navdata patch. Just kill whatever patch you have and re-download it. Uninstall, re-install. Patch and go from there.
  6. quote: Originally posted by Tac: I hope he has Gallion. Im trying to get funds to get the PAD on my Questar. If it works i'll tell ya. The appendix does say that you need an RE to use the artifacts.. but it erred when it said my RE needed 85% AI to make it work.. I had just started the game with my BCmk2 and had mined my 4 drones to the brim, bought the PAD, launched, inmediately decoupled the main gun and fired. The PAD worked instantly, and my RE does not have 85% AI Will keep you posted when my shuttles finish mining and ill buy the dang thing No. I didn't err. You missed the post where I said that artifacts that are system upgrades don't need to be analyzed.

Come back to the forum and say, "Look, I found a beautful fiord at coordinates XX North by YY West. It's just gorgeous at sunset, and I mined Iridium there. I've named it "Zuul Inlet" after myself. Or maybe you've found a partially frozen sea on the boundary between arctic and temperate on Kystar, and you name it the "Ross Ice Shelf" after a similar feature on Earth. When MMOG comes, fleets and corporations will be building cities on those worlds. And if you've scouted out beautiful spots on every planet and moon in this and the up-coming add-on universe, then you can make a pretty penny showing them exactly where to build. Some day, there may be a bustling metropolis in Zuul Inlet, and it will no doubt be called "Port Zuul" Brilliant. Just brilliant. In fact, you could even put crap in a pod and deploy the pod to mark the spot etc. The possiblities are limitless.
  8. quote: Originally posted by Thermidor: I would really appreciate if you did take the time to squash exploits. I feel the presence of exploits really hamper my "suspension of disbelief" and thus my feeling of escapism when playing immersive games such as this one. Thanks SC. You've gotta be kidding me. If the exploit is there and you feel so bad about it. uhm, don't use it. [ 11-27-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

  10. Been there. Done that. Next!heh, man, BCO is going to bury this one so deep, it won't be funny.
  11. I have deleted the navdata updated file since it is now included in the re-packaged 1.0.01 patch.
  12. Have either one of you registered?
  13. quote: Originally posted by Charles Lindsey: Hush! Derek will hear you and "fix" it. There's nothing to fix cuz it ain't broke. Its an exploit, like so many. I can't go around fixing every exploit can I? Then the game won't be fun. ...oh wait, maybe I can. Alright then, I'll come up with something.
  14. Nothing to do with BCM. Install Media Player 7.1 or higher.
  15. Knock it off children! We're investigating this one. [ 11-27-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  16. quote: Originally posted by Stroman: First, let me say I've looked all over for an answer to this and I apologize ahead of time if this has already been addressed somewhere.Started in the Earth region and headed to Pluto for some mining (Pluto seems very good for mining). I sent a drone to the planet and Charon (sp?). I took the jump gate to the Jupiter region to put a drone in that system. As soon as I try to go somewhere in that region (IO, Jupiter, etc.), I end up back in the Pluto region. I'll go back through the jump gate to the Jupiter region and try a different way to fly to the planet, moon, base, etc.. No matter what, I end up back at Pluto. I've tried the FLY TO from the SCM, activated autopilot and it sends me back to Pluto. I've selected Jupiter from the target list available the MAP tab of the NID, hit autopilot... boom, back to Pluto. I've also noticed the recharge from the hyperdrive is down to zero after returning back to Pluto via the jump gate. Thank you in advance!! Read the manual. Its all in there.

  18. quote: Originally posted by Sadistic: Urgh, I'm having the same problem again, and yes I checked the VCF and around the forum and haven't seen anything even similar to my problem, at least not in the most recent posts, but I'm not gonna go look in the archives and stuff, I doubt I'd find anything... anyways:The problem is that it jumps back to the desktop with no error messages or anything when it's finished loading everything. If I reinstall completely and start all over (I can't use my saved game even if I backed it up) it'll work for awhile, but eventually (and at no certain point in the game or in time) it kicks to the desktop and if I try and go back in it does it when it's done loading and if I reboot, still does it, and if I ScanDisk and Defragment, still does it. I sincierely apoligize if this has already been covered, but I swear to God I spent an hour and a half searching the latest threads and whatnot. (third post from the end of the thread) Try that and let me know.

  20. quote: Originally posted by Roberto: WOW! Didnt expect the game to send out shuttles on the ground to pick up Cargo for the enemy Pah! If you think thats something, wait'll some ship beams marines down to a base you're running around on. The first time they beam down, all you'll hear is the pffftt of the BMP9. Then its probably curtains (or a nasty headache).

  23. quote: Originally posted by Skeletun: You did a wonderful job of explaining it Uhmm but what I meant was that "I hyperspaced for at least 5 more seconds AFTER passing through the earth" that was before the Exiting Hyperspace message came. I was pretty far away by then. If your ship is still moving when you drop or you have your thrusters on prior to jump, what do you expect?
