Transporter Problem Please help (resolved)
Supreme Cmdr replied to jbarrek27's topic in Battlecruiser Series
The SFM is probably dead (which is what should happen). Are you sure Roster and Perscan indicate otherwise? And are you sure it was an SFM? [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] -

But that still doesn't explain why my system clock is getting messed with. [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: merlin0099 ] I don't do anything with your system clock, so you're on your own. Must be something to do with your Bios.

Get a faster computer. With those barely minimum specs, you shouldn't even be running with music. Didn't you read the FAQ? [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Clueless Newbie Questions

You're in for a shock if you think you have unlimited resources in mp. Unless of course you're not talking about mp. In which case, disregard. Works as designed. Live with it. Thats why you have THREE options: joystick, keyboard, mouse (from missile slot). Works as designed. Live with it. I think Soback pretty much sums up my thoughts. You're just used to the BC3K time accel cheat. I DID say that I was going to remove it in BCM. I did just that. [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Planetary Assaults/Invasions
Supreme Cmdr replied to CommanderJohnson's topic in General Discussions
Jeez Carl, here's a nickel, buy some paragraphs. Anyway... quote: In FP mode I made that mistake... I had 40 marines and I was down at the base fighting too.. Since everyone looks alike I went on a killing rampage on what I thought was the enemy... At the end of the battle when I decided to beam up the enemy killed 3 of my boys... I killed the other 37... yep. I deliberately don't enable TTDs in fp mode for that reason. It makes it all the more fun. When in doubt, use your DIE. Which is why there are two more modes in mode 3 to help ID marines. [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] -

You're welcome. Just spread the word. -
Try the updated navdata.ini file and let me know if that fixes it. It should.

Posted by Anachron. Moved here I started a new game in the Centris region at Orion and I HJed to the wormhole connecting that to the Sol system. That went fine, and I went through and went to the station at Pluto. After buying some items there, then went back to Centris by way of the same wormhole. Again, no problems. I docked with Orion station and sold my items, then wrote down the prices of the Orion station's goods. I left the station and launched a shuttle, then had the shuttle tractor me and tow me to the wormhole. The shuttle got to the wormhole just fine, and then as soon as its engines warmed up again went through the wormhole. I popped into the Sol system...and the game froze. I figured it was just my computer being stupid again (it has quite the knack for that), but it happened again to me just now under the same circumstances. Launched a shuttle after leaving the Orion station and had the shuttle tow me to the wormhole. As soon as it went through the wormhole, the game froze. My system specs are as follows: Pentium II 350MHz (*miserable sigh*) Windows 98 first edition 352MB SDRAM 36GB free hard drive space Voodoo3/3000 16MB with 1.07 drivers (should be a GeForce2 Pro with 64MB DDR video RAM, but for some stupid reason it hasn't come yet ) DirectX 8.1 Windows Media Player 7.1 Generibrand integrated sound MS Precision Pro joystick

Posted by Soback. Moved here Two instances - this time different from last. 1. Career Planetary support pilot : I crashed into surface of mars while using SHIFT + E to land. 3rd person camera angle of fighter explosion. Wait a few min. Game doesn't end - hit F1 and voila - cockpit. 2. Career Terran Military Commander : I was in a spacesuit. I was orbiting earth. My Ship was in a battle. It was defeated. View switched to my ship being destroyed. Game didn't end. Hit F1 to see if I was still in my space suit. I appeared in the cockpit - all systems dead. In both instances Alt Q ended the game. So it's not a big deal - once again just reporting what I've noticed in case you wanna squash it. My system Specs: P3 1ghz 256 Mb Ram Asus v8200 Deluxe Geforce 3 DetXP 21.83 drivers DFI Motherboard 50X CD ROM 7200 RPM 40 GB HD Really cool looking American flag mousepad on a side note - I'm operating CRASH - FREE so far. Just minor quirks I'm trying to spot and reproduce. [ 11-25-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Problems with Plantside Tacops view (false alarm)
Supreme Cmdr replied to PegasusJF's topic in Battlecruiser Series
quote: Originally posted by Soback: Yes, and that happens because they refresh TOO FAST. Anyway, for now you can select the mission zone you want from the menus to the left in the TACOPS view. Later, it will be fixed so that they flash slower and you will have time to see all of them and click. I guess he didn't read the VCF Anyway, that animation will be changed so that it does it only once (at Tacops observe) and then they will remain static (fixed). -
quote: Originally posted by [PCA]Pheonix: OK, I dont remember you telling me that. I've not got any email at the moment due to my stupid domain company. Thats odd. Because I sent out a press advisory (I'm sure you know the ones I'm talking about) that the final patch will invalidate Beta saved games (thats why they are Beta) and to contact me if they had anything in saved games they want to preserve.
-
quote: Originally posted by Soback: Here's the odd thing though. Now that I have started a new game and deploying mining drones, when I deploy a drone on Gamma-1, then check the status of how full it is from Tactical, it says that the drone is deployed at WRM-18. Then for the drone I deployed at Tyrinis it says that it's deployed at JMP-60. What's that? I distinctly remember that in my previous games it was listing the correct planets for deployed drones. Now it just lists these gyberish names. I think I know whats causing this. And probably Tac's problem too. I didn't rebuild the world data file when I removed that test debris field from Earth space region. This will cause the indices to be incorrect. Download this updatedNAVDATA.INI file and unzip in your BCM install folder with folders intact. It will replace the version in the DATA folder. Both you and Tac let me know if it fixes both your problems. If not, I may need to rebuild the world script.

How to packup & distribute saved game profiles
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Tech Support
When sending saved games to [email protected] , the following rules apply. Miss a step and the files WILL be deleted and the email discarded. Also, our email system is protected by ChoiceMail One. So if you fail to respond to the challenge/response email which you are sent, your email will not get through and will be deleted. Describe the problem in the email - even if you already posted it here Zip up the saved game files (described above) Only send saved game files pertaining to the problem The ZIP file name should be preceeded with profile_ followed by a short description of the problem. e.g. profile_damagefx.zip or profile_navitron_ctd.zip DON'T SEND US FILES UNLESS REQUESTED BY US OR A GREAT TRAGEDY WILL BEFALL YOU! quote: Originally posted by Soback: I can reproduce mine everytime (read second post from the top). All I have to do is start a new game and wait for 10 to 15 minutes. Don't even need to do anything. It's weird because it didn't use to do it pre-patched. Reinstalled the whole game, patched it up properly, still does it. Lemme guess : You're using the Beta saved games.

quote: Originally posted by Killzone: I know that the save game files from 1.0 are invalid but are the save game files from 1.0.01 beta invalid as well? If so that would explain my problem. They are Beta. Hence they are.

quote: Originally posted by EAGLE: I can reproduce it. You wait for station to launch some marines to defend against other marines Then you take over that station and if u kill marines that station launched game crashes. this is as clear as i can be i send the save file already. hope it helps. better yet hope its just my com doing it OK. I got the saved games. Will get back to you.

I need to think about this very carefully...
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Chatter
Excellent resources. We are aware of the first two. Gonna read #3 later. Thanks!! btw, I heard back from the EA site owners. More on this later once I hear back from my attorneys. Basically, I don't EA is going to pull a stunt like that again any time soon. And I've requested that any and all offensive, threating and libelous posts be deleted and a formal apology posted. We'll see. Naturally, Phil 'Evil Avatar' Hansen sent email to his bosses that he didn't know what I was yammering about. Here is what he said. Can you believe this? quote: From: Philip Hansen To: Williams, Rick Sent: 11/23/01 2:33 PM Subject: Fw: OK, I've had it. Rick, I really don't know what Derek is all up in arms about. I haven't said anything about him and as far as I know neither has anyone from my staff. He hasn't asked us to remove any specific messages or made any other specific threats, he is just out there on the edge ranting like a loon again. Do you want to reply to him at all? I'm not going to post Rick's email since I have no beef with him and his tone clearly indicates that he wants the matter resolved (as do I) and without incident. Phil just got caught with his pants down, especially in light of the posts and him posting AFTER said posts - PLUS - he claims he didn't know what I was talking about. Not to mention that I have several emails from me to him complaining about Drcrypt's threats, harrassment and libelous posts. If Rick doesn't resolve this asap, you'll be reading all about it, including all the emails, posts *and* responses from developers who gave me their permission to post their comments, in a future soapbox update.
