You have gobs of memory I think. I haven't been able to reproduce it either and am not going to try. I will completely disable that test field in the final patch and put them all back in once I figure out the best way to handle it without being subject to the cheats the vets are used in BC3K v2.0x.
  3. quote: Originally posted by Cmdr Nova: I'm having that problem, too, with the patch. Oddly, it never did this before the patch. oops, I forgot to include the fixed ENGLISH.LNG file in the patch. doh! The reason it worked post patch is because you followed my instructions to edit the ENGLISH.LNG file. When I built the patch script, I clean forgot to include my fixed version of this file. Sorry! OK, I have added it to the recent updated script file. Please download that file again and unzip.
  4. quote: Originally posted by Zuul: This is as detailed as I can get about what is happening. Sigh After all that work I realy thought this was gonna work too. So, the game works now. Thats great. Don't go in that debris field (its the only one in the game and was accidentally left in), perhaps my previous message wasn't clear enough?
  5. Nothing I can suggest. Thats a driver problem. You'd have to find out why its happening. Trying uninstalling and then do a clean install of the video drivers and DX 8.1
  6. BCM does not use OpenGL, though I am tempted to have Andrei port the graphics engine from DX to OGL because I am considering a Mac and Linux port of BCM. btw, you can pick up a GF3 Ti 200 for about $100
  7. Do NOT post new topics to issues that already have open threads - or they WILL be deleted. I just deleted an issue related to a crash, when in fact a similar (Misc Issues) thread is already open. Any spelling error in a subject header will result in the thread being deleted on sight. 8. As you can see, you can, use the nVidia drivers, (except for the 2280) And here are the 2183 drivers for the Dell. *sigh* [ 11-22-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  9. Working on the docs actually.

Transport I like the rugged look of the LR15. And it looks like a moving tanker. fighter I'd prefer an S-Fighter or the X22 when am not in my MK1 of course.
  11. Download and unzip into your BCM v1.0.01 install folder - overwriting existing files (2).Resolves this issue [ 11-22-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  12. I have uploaded a world script update for this issue. Just unzip into your BCM 1.0.01 folder and overwrite existing files.
  13. Found and fixed. Thanks Andergum. The info you gave made it easier since all I had to do was search for Pixan. It happens over at Wraith and other station regions. It is a case of cut 'n paste gone wild, in the world script. Gallion, in your version of glob_dyn.scr, you will see the errors around line #298 e.g. This: mixed raider,,pixan_sp,pixan,supply_platform.3d,supply_station Should be: mixed raider,,pixan_sp,supply_platform.3d,supply_station As you can see, the second occurence of 'pixan' is actually a valid station (Pixan) class name. So, it uses it as the model for the supply platform and propagates the subsequence params to the other fields as supported by the [dynamic] block. From Pixan, you will see that about four more after it need modifying. I know you are working on your own scripts, so I wanted you to know. I will send you my glob_dyn.scr later once I have tested all this. I will probably release another interim patch tomorrow. [ 11-22-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  14. Why aren't you running DX 8.1 on the laptop?
  15. quote: Originally posted by Zuul: Ok, thankyou SC, greatly appreciated! This is going to take me a little bit so I will keep this post updated. No problem. This is like a man down situation. So, we should be able to get you up and running in no time.
  16. Ok, Zuul, I got the files. So, lets start from scratch Uninstall the game and delete the folder Download the 2280 drivers (this is just temporary and you can go back to 2183 later if you wish) Download and re-installed DirectX 8.1 (you can grab it from the same link above Install the game (after rebooting etc) Copy the patch to the install folder and execute it. Run the game and do NOT change ANY options Now, run the game and describe the problem you are having with as much detail as possible - IF - you still have a problem.

  18. quote: Originally posted by Zuul: On a side note though, I am experiencing the same exact problems when I try other actions, such as flying the CC to the moon, go into Tacops mode, and the second I hit the Observe button BAM! Same exact results. You haven't installed the patch, have you?
  19. I activated invinciblity mode in the 1.0.01 interim patch. Edit the shortcut to bcm.exe and add /i to it and start a new game. None of your assets will be injured in combat. Cheats are for whimps, but there you have it. Cheats are UNSUPPORTED
  20. quote: Originally posted by JJ: yeah sc, do you think you can help those guys out with putting a scope on the sabre or something, cause it REALLY is hard, AND NEW AMERICA...OMG BEAUTIFUL!, UNREAL, THE BASE INSIDE THE ASTEROID, i was speechless Good idea. I'll think about it.
  21. Dunno really. So, what did they say about your order? Anyway, send email to [email protected]
  22. There shouldn't even be any debris fields with cargo in the game. I just checked my world script and noticed that I left the one I used for beta testing (in Earth region), in the script. I will remove it. I don't think leaving it in would cause a crash. I'd have to see the crash type before I make a judgement call, but those fields definitely chew up memory, which is why there aren't any in the game. But, that doesn't seem to be the only problem that Zuul is having.

  24. I just checked and it seems like I forgot to send Gallion the upgrades data for the appendix. I have now sent it to him and I will add the new files in the final 1.0.01 patch. Here is the data from the upgrades.html file quote: The engine, reactor, shields, and armor on the Command Craft can be upgraded. The upgrade path will vary depending on the ship. For e.g upgrades for a carrier may not be available for a transport. An upgraded system results in better performance and in the case of shields and armor, higher protection. Most upgrades can be performed on-board by your own on-board engineers or engineers at starstations or starbases. If your upgraded system is damaged or destroyed, depending on its damaged components, you may only be able to replace it by first downgrading to a lesser component and then trying to upgrade it. Artifacts cannot be repaired. 25. quote: Originally posted by Zuul: SC, I said that because in theory someone out there might have the same exact system setup that I do that is also trying to run BCM as we speak. If I am the only person there is that is having these problems then so be it. I assure you I have not been able to play for more then 15-20 mins without the game either freezing up (resulting in a cold boot), or getting kicked to the desktop without warning. I understand there can be a myriad of problems concerning my hardware, drivers, and OS. But I have updated every driver possible, the correct way also. I have tried messing with the video BIOS options as listed in the FAQ one by one. I have disabled Intelipoint and all TSR's in the background except for Volume Control. And as being an owner of a Gateway computer, I uninstalled Gateway GoBack a long time ago (a program that interfered with many games). I have also turned the sound accelerator to the 2nd notch from the left as specified as well as the hardware accelerator for the GeForce2 GTS. I have the latest patch and installed it directly from the BCM folder. I don't know what to say, honestly. Is there some steps I am missing? Why is it every other game works well on my system and not BCM? Maybe it can be isolated from all this information, I just don't know. Gateway computers are famous for strange and unkown problems, maybe their configuration is garbage. All I am asking for is help concerning this issue. I love your game and am dying to play it. I am looking for more suggestions on what to do here, and please don't tell me just to return the game and forget about it. If there is something I can do to help you figure out what the problem is, please tell me and I will give you any information you want. Thanks... Well, I've been staring at your posts for awhile and I can't think of anything. Clearly it sounds like a hardware+software issue but since I have no clue what you have installed on that machine, I'm at a loss. Sorry. Anyway, if I can think of anything to try, I'll let you know. In the meantime, run DXDIAG from the DirectX control panel applet, save it to a file and send the file to [email protected] along with your system specs. You may also want to run MSCONFIG and export your system settings to a file. Send that file also. Be sure to zip these files. [ 11-22-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
