I need to think about this very carefully...

That EA thread is like the VE threads... except for the one comment about child molestation, which was totally uncalled for. I really don't see legal action accomplishing anything other than justifying the detractors negative opinions, and causing more resentment towards you.We need to focus on the positives. The game is out, and except for some annoying bugs, people are playing it and are generating some good buzz. More people may be enticed to play once the print reviews show up. I say channel all determination into squashing bugs and making BCM multiplayer the damn best space-sim multiplayer EVER. This way, people sitting on the fence waiting to buy BCM will look at the negative crap, but see far more positive things, which means more fans and more support. Agree 100% Did you see this? (5th post from top) I mean, think about that, and the above for a minute. This goes beyond a piss take. I mean, I take Shirley aka Wilf aka Fabio's crap (VE forum's resident idiot) without so much as a second glance. Because its just that. Crap. But you don't see VE (or any other forum) promoting and/or encouraging such attacks. well if you dare have problems with the patch, he accuses you of piracy after being the usual belligerent *******. why hasn't natural selection taken care of this bastard yet? Whats the best way of improving your Crews AI?

quote: Originally posted by Captain Dread: Which ships can get the special item reactor and shield upgrade? I know the firestorm CANT. Which ones can and cant? If you look in the DATAASSETS.INI file, you will see entries such as quote: RUPGRADE{171,185,170,242,144,251} EUPGRADE{232,133,138,194,193} SUPGRADE{231,176,177,178} AUPGRADE{244,245,246,247} R = Reactor E = Engine S = Shield A = Armor Now look in the DATAITEMS.INI file and the number on the left column, matches a number above. e.g. 171 = LATTIS/NB (ITEMS.INI line 220) That means the craft can upgrade to this reactor type. If the item is missing from that {} block, it means that the craft can't upgrade to it. e.g. The LRT-10 transport can't equip a LATTIS/NB reactor. Sounds like a task for Gallion's appendix. Probably should go in the carriers/cruisers/transports html files.

Dell Inspiron 8000, mouse disappears (resolved)
Supreme Cmdr replied to projectar's topic in Battlecruiser Series
Speaking of which, I was planning on buying myself a new laptop for Christmas, but I am torn between The Dell 8100 (fully stacked with what I need, it comes to $2993) or The Toshiba 5005-S504 (fully stacked with what I need at $2250) If I do get the Dell, then the video info in this thread becomes quite useful. I can't see much difference between the two besides the following Windows XP. Dell has Pro. Toshiba has Home GF2GO. Dell has 32MB. Toshiba has 16MB Display. Dell has UltraXGA TFT (whatever the heck that is). Toshiba has XGA TFT I can get Office XP Small Business on the Dell, but crapware (some of which I already have)on the Toshiba Difficult decision [ 11-23-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] -

I asked him to port my version to the true BCM variation and to rip out all obsolete BC3K related stuff. .....and haven't heard from him since. Not that I expected to - its close to a major re-write. The current version (used in the Beta program) does work because I had done some minimal porting. But in order to alleviate any profile corruption (notwithstanding the fact it is unsupported), I decided to play it safe and have it overhauled (like I'm currently doing with the GBS-II tools). Go down to the planet in your CC, land on water, then order the shuttle to tow in into space. Maybe then you can fix whatever is damaged and restart. I don't like taking CC into the planets atmosphere (learned my lesson). I do it VERY rarely. Always before you do that, SAVE, and then exercise extreeme caution near water. Yep. And sometimes due to the various land masses, you could see what looks like land, but is really shallow water. Then you go an land (because it looks solid) and.....well, you get the idea. Its happened to me so many times, that I've lost count. So now what I do is go to a very low altitude, thruster to 0, a/p in HALT mode, then I tranport myself to the planet right next to the ship. And if its shallow I end up in it, well, thats why I can swim.

It had to happen. First with the insane countdowns, now this. OK, lets see... Trading bit sounds doable, but the question is, where you do output the information for later viewing? I suppose it could be piped into the commlink log. So, there would be an option in Tradecom to Record Prices which then writes it into the log file, which you can then view later via COMMLINK. No, I'm not putting another Frontend interface into the game. So, don't anyone even think about it. I had planned on doing that at one time and making Perscan into a 3D interface. But time contraints prevented it. This will definitely be in BCTC (since the levels would already exist as-is and won't need any pre-processing) but not in any BCM add-ons. I need to think about this very carefully...
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Chatter
Good point. And thats basically the kind of response I've been getting from others. But the fact remains, if I don't do something (now may not be the time, since I have to focus these first few weeks on the game's release), its going to continue. And I really do need to set an example. Anyway, I am going to do something legal about it. -
Dunno why it would take 23hrs to download an 8MB file. Are you on 300bps modem connection?
-
Brilliant!! Anyway, I have removed the debris field in tonite's patch update. It will return in a future patch, so, you'll get your fix then.
-
So, I take it everything is fine now then Zuul?
-
No thanks. I already settled for just not allowing intruders to board unarmed transports.
-
Nice story. btw, thats not a bug - especially if the diplomat docked *after* you got docked the points. Check your orders - or ask Gallion

No problem. Have fun!

You will only enter the planet if you are within its orbital pull. Like everything else (e.g. running around with scissors), don't HJ when close to a planet. In fact, it ranks up there with flying a fighter at 1000 ft AGL when you don't even know how to fly. Catch my drift? This works as designed

Box says that Voodoo 3 4 5 Supported
Supreme Cmdr replied to Badgerius's topic in Battlecruiser Series
quote: Originally posted by Badgerius: But since it is not an error, and since you do spell out the driver issues on the box, then there is no problem. Sorry to bother you about it. No problem. I wasn't bothered because I understand that were just looking out for me. Either that or you were thinking of badgering me to fix driver problems on cards I have no control over, just because the box says that the game was tested on them. You don't own a Voodoo card, do you? [ 11-23-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
