I guess if you want to attack something then just set it as a valid target and leave it to the descretion of the pilot. Set the waypoint. The system picks an arbitrary alt Tilt the map so you can see it from the side Grab the previously placed waypoint from the map or from the menu and drag it up/down

quote: Originally posted by Rosko: Ok the 3d plotting in the vacume of space isn't that important.........but 3d plotting in atmosphere is very important!! If you wanted a fighter to come down at a decent angle to an enemy position, you could do that by plotting a point up high, then the second next to the enemy base(down low). Waypoints on a planet can be plotted based on altitude above the terrain. [Q] quote: Why isn't this an important issue like it was in homeworld??thanks[/Q] I'll let someone else address that because its too easy and my time would be wasted on it. I am leaning closer to Derek Smart : They never saw this coming As for the countdown - well, I've been working on the book off and on for a while now, so the countdown should've started about two years or so ago. But, lets hold off on that until it actually gets the publisher. [ 11-08-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

If you do get the game before you upgrade, just make sure you stick to playing the Instant Action scenarios. Since they take place in a smaller galaxy, your system can probably handle it. Probably. You will NOT be able to enjoy the main game with those specs. As for the fp in demo2, it wasn't the focus of the demo or you won't have space regions. Which is why you notion that it needs more work for multiplayer, is puzzling.

quote: Originally posted by Urza: A very interesting soapbox, SC. Hmmm, and the autobiography sounds good, too. Do you know what the title's going to be yet? About a year ago, I came up with Derek Smart : They didn't see him coming. But I have others in mind. Once I settle on a final title, I'll let everyone know.

Thanks for the support folks. Anyway, once you get the game and see the materials, you will really appreciate the fact that I decided to invest a little more time in making sure that it was done right. At the end of the day, if I'm going to charge you guys $50 for a game, why would I want to skimp on the quality? After all, my money, as everyone knows, goes right back into my company and games. I don't need to have it sitting in a bank doing nothing because every $1 I invest in getting something done right, is $2 am gonna get back from you folks in the long run. Its called cultivation.

Bad script or corrupted executable?

Joaquin Believe me, it happens. Sometimes I stare at my scripts for so long, I go cross eyed trying to figure out why an event is not firing. I do need to develop a new state machine which allows the runtime testing of scripts. This way, you could pop-up a console (ala Quake), alter a script, and execute it right there from inside the game. In fact, I have it in my GBSII design docs but it kinda fell by the wayside and gave way to other critical things : like getting the damn game done. Which reminds me, I may as well start working on the new GBSII docs. I will be releasing GBSII with BCStudio, PTEstudio etc. and with a lot of samples on scripting, moding etc. [ 11-06-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] -

whoa!! Talks about a resounding echo

While I have no doubt that the UN is largely USELESS, due to how the Middle Easterners tend to have similar and/or same names, there is a very strong possibility that they are different people. Without conclusive evidence, this is just another one for hearsay.

LOL!!! Man, you guys have TOO much time on your hands.

Jaguar, if these ants continue to interfere with our private business, a situation will be created and you can stomp them down to space dust! But for the time being we have more important things to deal with such as the Syrions and Droidans. We are not 'currently' at war with GALCOM but things can change.... {RP} [ 11-05-2001: Message edited by: LordDavid ] {RP} We are not aware of any such action by an officer of GALCOM. However, we will look into this situation and take the appropriate action. The Commander in question has been recalled to GHQ. {RP}

quote: Originally posted by Epsilon 5: no, the SC is confusing me. "inventory management" makes me think about setting the price of the stuff for sale, like "asset management" would have made me think about controlling the assets. No. You're confusing yourself. Inventory doesn't have to mean trade items. Don't you consider a station's assets to be part of its inventory? How thing they got there? Out of thin air?

...you have no idea. That was just the condensed version.

quote: Originally posted by Soback: So that's the accpetable standards this days. That's sad. uhm, he's right you know. Whats sad about it? The more complex software gets, the more likely there are to be bugs in it. How about this. How about I pull the game out of production and spend another two months hunting down bugs before releasing it. You won't mind that, right? No matter what kind of software you develop, if you tinker with it long enough, you will find a bug in it. Hell, the OS you are running has more bugs that you care to know about. BCM went Gold on 9/24 and so far have only found, what, three bugs? And if I'm doing a demo based on post-Gold code, those bugs won't be in the demo, but they will be in the pre-patched Gold version. OK, now for my question of the day: Whats your point? And btw, have you pre-ordered the game yet?
