  1. LOL. Its getting ugly alright. Me? I'm just gonna watch.
  2. No, BCM does not support modem-to-modem connections. You can get a network card for about $25. The cost of a game. [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 06-28-2000).]
  3. ROTFL!!!! You guys have too much time on your hands.
  4. You may want to check out the reviews of the V5 so that you know exactly what FSAA is. It is not a speed enhancement. It is a visual enhancement and one that sacrifices speed depending on the resolution and setting. So, enjoyable? Dunno. Its looks fine here. When in doubt, get a V5
  5. If you don't know who the hell you're at war with, you're not fit to be in command of that vessel. For one thing, read the history section of the manual. Its not there for eye candy. heh, fried Falkerie, yum!
  6. By looking at the color of their TTDs. doh! better yet, why don't you go over to the Gammulans and see if they've decided to lay down their arms and organize a cookout with their Terran counterparts. That should give you a clue as to whether they're friendly or not.
  7. I only force set it once (you get to see the message) and then the internal AI engine does it automatically. It doesn't send any messages.
  8. Yeah, without a doubt Jeff's certifiable.
  9. quote: As to the monitor trick - how many of ye actually were foolish enough to go to the top right hand corner of ye monitor and say ahhhh..... Duuhhhhh!!! *sheepish grin* uhm, me (?) Actually, I made sure I unplugged my camera first though, before I clicked the link. Anyway, I sent it to all my friends and its been hilarious so far. At any rate, the monitor thing was a dead giveaway, but, I still fell for it.
  10. If you don't know what experience is, they you haven't played Fleet C&C then.
  11. heh, its only a demo and bears no relevance to the full game he's playing.
  12. You won't believe it until you actually see this in action. Take my word for it, its scary. How they track us all!
  13. Cruis. In, I take it you have not been reading my dev diaries? You can step out of any vehicle or craft, in first person. So, you can be driving or flying and be able to get out of and climb back into your vehicle. If you have the necessary EPs and AI, you can also take command of SAM sites and other weapons of mass destruction and control them. Don't confuse this with the first person mode inside your ship. For that, you need the BCTE add-on. In fact, I recently added a shoulder rocket launcher and a shotgun, to the arsenal. www.3000ad.com/pics/bcm/rl_sgun.jpg ...and to the see the bad boys most likely to be carrying these rigs...meet the work-in-progress, Elite Force marine www.3000ad.com/pics/bcm/efmarines.jpg You're already seen the final version of the Infantry Marine www.3000ad.com/pics/bcm/imarines.jpg [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 06-21-2000).]
  14. Heh, Korono, I do that everyday, sans cigar of course. Anyway, am wrapping up some rendering issues on the new PTE terrain. The first shots I show you guys, I'm certain that someone will most likely pass out.
  15. oh oh... http://www.stationterminus.com/cgi-bin/ubb...=240&fs=1&dp=20
  16. quote: Another BIG plus was that it ran really well on my system, without having to wait for patches. Anyone want to play spot the troll? Think about that - a patch for a demo? hmmm
  17. It depends on where you are. If you buy BC3K v2.0x outside of the US, it comes with the full 142 page printed manual. In the North America/Canada, it comes with a 40 page guide and the rest of the manuals are online in Acrobat format. The printed manual is no longer available for sale in the store area. BC3K is compatible will all graphics card. However, it has been reported that it has problems with Voodoo5 boards. No surprise there. It works on mine but not on Gallion's (I think) and am too busy with BCM to sort it out.
  18. DarkHorizon quote: Yeah yeah, it copied the concept that BC first started with persistent universe and whatnot, but what the heck do want in the end, scripted missions again? You don't know that, because its not modeled in the demo. Have to wait for the full version. quote: Oh yeah correction, Elite first started the concept of "persistent universe". Unless you don't know what a PU is, Elite did not have one. Ever. BC3K v1.0 was the first title, ever, to sport a true persistent universe. Anyway, noboby is going to flame anyone over their opinions of a competing product. If I see it, I'm banning that person. No exceptions. People have different tastes and we are all sci-fi fans. IMHO, even though I never considered Terminus as true competition because its basically a shooter more than anything else, it is not even a B-rated game. IMHO, there is nothing innovative about it. As for flight dynamics. Sure, its cool, but I-War did it better and it looked prettier to boot. At the end of the day, it will have its fans but if they sell anything near 15K units of that game, they'll be lucky. Its just not going to happen. Period. The Linux and Mac versions will help somewhat in reaching those numbers. But, like X:BTF, it started like it was going to be a bang, but ended up in a fizzle. For one thing, Klingon Academy is going to walk all over it. They're due out around the same time. They were smart to defer the shipping in order to not get caught in the Tachyon/Starlancer blitz. Now that would've been painful, to say the least. If you go over to atfw.net and look at the database of upcoming space games, each and everyone, will most likely surpass Terminus in some area or another. This game's reviews and judgement calls, will be based on personal opinion and nothing else. It does not have the star power that a triple-A title needs. And these days, if you're not doing triple-A quality games, unless you have a fan base or a serious marketing blitz, it won't sell. Period. I have always favored gameplay over graphics and I still do. But, from the demo, there is no gameplay in Terminus that offsets the mediocre graphics. BC3K v2.0 had the same problem, but there is so much to do in it, that you forget about the graphics (especially if you are using a 3Dfx card). Flight dynamics have nothing to do with gameplay. If anything, Terminus is competiting with BC3K v2.0x. It doesn't stand a chance against anything else, let alone BCM. [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 06-20-2000).]
  19. I'll bet that the average BCM gamer will have a lot more fun just dropping out a station or ship, into space, with only a spacesuit, jump jets and a rocket launcher.
  20. No problem Parias. I just don't want to turn my board into a Terminus tech support area. btw, I tried the demo. heh. 'nuff said.
  21. wtf is this doing on my board? Why don't you go and post it on their board? Apart from that, if you can't boot into Safe Mode, you're screwed. Nothing could be simpler than that. Next time, when you get your system up, do what normal people: get a program that makes backups of the registry. I personally use WinRescue from superwin.com and it has saved my butt many times. 22. Which part of this excerpt was foreign? quote: Specifically, we're looking for numbers on the wing Commander Series, Star wars series, and Homeworld. First of all, they'll never get it off the ground if they're gonna go by the sales units of space sim titles that came after WC3. For one thing, the popular ones, like Freespace2 and Homeworld (is it really a space flight sim in the sense of the genre?) were both multi-million dollar duds. X-Wing Alliance didn't do that well either. Its going to take some hellacious numbers to even make the money Sierra already buried into it. And with BCM, GCO and Freelancer coming out, all within the next 12 months, I wish 'em luck. They're gonna need it.
  23. Hey cool pics guys!! Man, I just know that where ever I host that Lan party, they're gonna throw us out before its over..assuming we dont' gag Paris and Chris Blair. hehe [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 06-17-2000).]
  24. Saw it too. Absolutely amazing. I liked it better than SW:EO. The visual effects are, well, I can't describe them because to they're awesome would be an understatement. A definite must-see.
