  1. Get the demo. Then you be the judge. [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 06-17-2000).]
  2. I bet its the refresh rate settings. Try 60Hz Apart from that, there is no plausible reason why Continue would work and Restore won't. It sure doesn't sound like its graphics related to me.
  3. Look what I found.... http://www.3dfxgamers.com/boards.asp?BOID=...sort=lastpost&b
  4. Well, the next gathering will be a lot of fun. Once this game ships, am buying an SUV (trading in the BMW 325i convertible, but am definitely keeping the Merc ) and stuffing machines, netcards etc, and heading North. Or, I could just spend some money, hire a hotel conference hall (there are several in this hi-tech area I live in) where I know they're not going to throw us out, and make it LAN party type gig!
  5. That would be: /v1 /n Anyway, how did you determine that the problem is with the 3klogo.ani file? For one thing, thats the file that played before the intro. As far as I'm aware, the Savage4 has a problem getting into VESA mode, which is required to play the logo and intro. The FAQ covers this I think.
  6. hmm, thats strange that when you installed the V5, it didn't put anything in your autoexec.bat file. Here's what it put in mine. Why don't you try this (though I have them disabled in mine) and see. Also, make sure that you are using the GLIDE2X.OVL file that came with the V5. Copy it to the BC3K folder. If that causes a driver init problem, try the V3 one. REM out EVERY Voodoo parameter in the bc3k3dfx.bat file and put these in there. Also, try adding/removing the VSYNC command too. As for your registry, search for Voodoo or 3Dfx and see what you come up with. Also check for the presence of similar .ini file in the Windows folder tree. quote: REM == Voodoo legacy support for older games == @SET SST_GRXCLK=90 @SET SST_FT_CLK_DEL=0x4 @SET SST_TF0_CLK_DEL=0x6 @SET SST_TF1_CLK_DEL=0x6 @SET SST_VIN_CLKDEL=0x1 @SET SST_VOUT_CLKDEL=0x0 @SET SST_TMUMEM_SIZE=2 [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 06-17-2000).]
  7. Saving a game has nothing to do with drivers. The card is probably going out of synch during a screen update. For one thing, if the Voodoo5 drivers don't work with BC3K, then, thats that. Nothing I can do about it. IIRC, when you install the V5, it sticks some commands in your autoexec.bat. Try commenting them out. I'm 90% thats the problem. And if you go using non-V5 drivers and you get that error, well, what I can I say?
  8. I exchanged several emails with Lee Anderson, the author of the article over at Linux times, when someone sent me email about his article and claim that Terminus seemed to be saying that it was the first to pioneer this technology. He seemed to understand that he'd got the PR snow job. Am not going to post all emails, so, here are excerpts of the exchange of two weeks ago. In fact, last month, I even asked Lisa to remove ATFW from our corporate press mailers because since I had a run-in with them last year, over, again, inaccurate and biased opinionated reporting, they've only gotten worse. Apart from that, numerous requests to have them update their database, obviously fell on deaf ears. This is why, you won't see any more news of my products over there, nor will you see me participate in their chats. The only way they're ever going to get news from me, is if they get it from some other premium site, such as Blue's News, GA, Voodoo Extreme, etc. ATFW is a meaningless site when it comes to gamer traffic anyway, so, its not like I'm missing anything. I'm not some new fledgling developer, looking for exposure. That, I've already got - in aces I think. ME: quote: I fully understand that, and I would not expect any such comments because that was not the purpose of my email. And yes, as someone in the press, you should know better than to hang on every word from PR people. P.A quote: As I say, I am thankful for your comments on my article. I will make changes at my discretion, but I still stand by my opinion of Terminus. It is a good game, and whilst you may say that BC3K is better, this is your own opinion. Everyone is entitled to hold their own view. I guess I learnt this the *hard* way. I saw this as a catchy phrase and thought it would be a good point to make. I've only been writing articles for a year, this being the first written contact with a PR rep. I will not be making the same mistake once again. My check was on the features of Terminus. I looked for a persistent universe etc, and turned up a few sites. My error was not following up these leads, something which I will make sure I finish off with such reviews. 9. LOL!! That was too funny Hector. Paul's not going to be very amused.
  10. I have to agree with Ron's post. For one thing, I'm more concerned about social security and health care benefits, more than anything else. Most people work too hard, all their lives, and simply can't retired in a manner that is consistent with their tax contributions etc. Its pathetic. And as for the health care in the US? Its a fraudulent scam that only insurance companies, lobbyists and attorneys, benefit from. As for guns. Well, if someone wants a gun, law or no law, they're going to get it. Its that simple. Growing up in the UK (being half-Brit myself), guns are frowned upon. But of course, all the restrictions did nothing to lower the gun induced crime rate.
  11. Thanks Rattler. Frankly, I don't know what is so difficult to understand. Especially since they are clearly written on the products page. Oh well; at least you bothered to type all that up again. I read the first post and moved on. btw, think of GCO as UO, EQ or AC. You buy the product, install it and get online. There is no single-player training mode. If you've played BCM, then its an unnecessary addition. For newbies, they'll have to train online, in a secure galaxy, controlled by NPC and human, Police castes (no PvP). Rage, one more all CAPS post from you, and you're outta here. You've been warned. 12. You guys just crack me up.
  13. quote: Ouch! That hurts , I didn't spend 5 years in the University (+4 more to get my PhD) just to get close to being a Physicist. Well then, there you have it. OK, ladies, listen to the man.
  14. I knew I was in for something unpleasant when I started reading these last two posts. It gave me an unpleasant headache. Anyway, we always welcome a healthy debate here and I'd appreciate it if you two ladies, didn't make it personal. Damasceus: If you're going to barge in on a thread that is supposed to be serious, think twice before you start injecting levity and outright tomfoolery into it. You might be mistaken into thinking that the average BC3K crowd, has not yet made it past high-school (OK, I didn't make it past kindergarten, but please don't hold that against me), you are sorely mistaken. In that respect, please refrain from turning a healthy debate, into a farce. Then again, you did warn them, :-) Aramike01:lighten up. While D probably doesn't have a clue what he's talking about, while at the same time making mincemeat of anything logical, I think you failed to take his posts for what they were, (even though he warned us): laughable verse. And if you guys keep this up, I'm going to call in Hector, my resident Astronomer. What?!? he's the closest thing to a Physicist that I have access to!! This whole thread makes my head hurt. Thanks guys. Now am off to introduce 10 new bugs in the game cuz I can't think with a headache.
  15. Search for the word PIXAN and you may come up with something. I think some of the guys got that one licked, and posted some hints somewhere here.
  16. Updated
  17. heh, nope. Check the products page: www.3000ad.com/products/index.shtml
  18. Glad you got it going!! Be advised guys: The MapPak is a self-installing program which runs bldmaps.bat and not MapMake.exe, automatically. If anyone wanted to ruin their environment and re-run bldmaps.bat again, after already installing the MapPak, they would do it using this batch file (because it has the proper commandline parameters) and not by running MapMake.exe directly.
  19. LOL!! [This message has been edited by Supreme Cmdr (edited 06-10-2000).]
  20. Looks cool! Stick it on a fan site somewhere, gimme the link, and I'll add it to the links page. Nice job for a first-timer!
  21. Gee, I didn't know you were pregnant Badger? Congratulations anyway!
  22. Chris, UFS-V was not a BCM competitor because it was more like Homeworld, but with the fun and more steroiods I was actually looking forward to it. Oh, well.
  23. heh. put him out of his misery and just tell him how to solve it.
