  1. I read the review and even though, for the most part, the guy didn't like the game nor "get it" as I like to say, at least he wasn't getting personal. Unlike that other POS review at gamingchronicles. I don't think I've yet read a BC review where I felt the reviewer invested enough time and effort to get over that hump where he can give an honest and fair assessment of the game. But I guess thats just the reality of today's world of fast food and instant gratification.
  2. You sure he wasn't just tripping?
  3. So I guess being a beta tester is a good thing? Like you get to be told to "siddown!" more? Gratz!
  4. quote: Then of course I found Bo DEREK references and was completely sidetracked... LMAO!! That struck me funny that you got hits on Bo Derek AND Smart. Ahem, I'm sure it was her intellectual words of wisdom that sidetracked you?
  5. This is just an example of what happens when you put a man's game in a boys hands. The same reason why you shouldn't give a razor to your 8 year old son and tell him to shave. Its not worth commenting on furthur.
  6. This could go here or the newbie section, since I'm very much a n00b. There is a TER/INS space station I would like to capture but there is also an ODS orbiting the planet. I have read that its a good idea to wait for the ODS to be on the other side of the planet before attacking the starstation (makes sense). Also from reading this post SC is suggesting that orientation is a factor (although its an old post and may no longer be valid). Ok my question... How are you guys determining (preferably before HJing to the station) the position of the ODS respective of the planet, and, whether its likely to achieve lock after you come out of HJ? Any tips? (HAH, see it can go in this forum ) I've been playing BCMG since release almost non-stop. Although I own BCM, I never invested enough time in it to get hooked. Thats all changed! I've finally found the holy grail of gaming. Thanks for reading.
  7. I guess you don't have to worry about item decay deploying cargo pods to a planet?
  8. Thanks Griz, you the man. I thought I had read on some tweak XP site about modifying the registry to do this. Excuse my laziness.
  9. quote: 4 birds 6 fish quote: oh, and its not a space sim anymore LOL!!! SC, you need to add fisherman and birdwatcher castes!
  10. I feel your pain... Speaking of intruding Mr. Windows. Whats the best way to disable the windows key in XP? I have hit the windows key by mistake while aiming for the alt key (for mouse toggling) more than once and BCMG dun like the windows key. Putting it in the accessibility options would have made sense, but noooooooo.
  11. quote: and what do you mean by ps/vs versions? pixel and vertex shaders.
  12. quote:Originally posted by InsurgentKiller: Are there any fighters that are just superior at dogfighting, or does it just depend on the pilot? NPC pilots have different AI levels. I find I can take out some easily while others are long battles where I'll have a hard time getting on his six. When you come across a high AI opponent, you really need to mix it up. Throw some missles at him, change the power level of your guns etc. It seems you need to be unpredictable, quite realistic if you think about it.
  13. Welcome! quote: I tried the search on the forum and I haven't found anything relevant so I'm assuming this topic hasn't been covered yet. You didn't try very hard! If you search on "dogfighting", all forums, any date, you will get back 12 hits. The second one, "Need help with fighters" is a good thread. I hope you aren't trying to dogfight fighters with your CC, cuz that would be an exercise in futility.
  14. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: The operative word being probably. Read what I wrote again. Slowly. LOL, gotcha.
  15. quote:Originally posted by Supreme Cmdr: heh, previous saves games are probably are invalid if you were using 1.00.01 patch. Really? I have continued my roam campaign, that I started with the retail build, after patching without a problem. I do occasionally hang on a "resume" but then I just reboot and use "restore" instead and that always works. I'm probably misunderstanding you, because I believe you always document in the VCF if patching invalidates your saves.
  16. quote: Now where did I put that styrofoam? It's time to build models and do blind spot analysis... OMG, you are officially hardcore.
  17. Mindfever, your post gave me a headache. quote: only one thing, the ver. number is the old one...but maybe its because the patch is only for MP client.lets moove on This should be all the evidence you need to know you didn't patch correctly.
  18. LOL, that was hilarious! Through the whole thing I was getting visions of Woody Allen. Good stuff.
  19. After updating your sig to include your system information, state exactly what that "funky" message is. Or you might be able to find the answer yourself by going here and cut and pasting your funky message into step 2 and see what it tells you. You could also read up on file associations, and tell us what application you have associated with rich text formatted files (.rtf).
  20. quote: I still cannot get the patch to work. Perhaps your copy of the patch is corrupted. I would try downloading it again. Also, the folder you want to put the patch into before installing is this "C:Program FilesDreamCatcher3000ADBattlecruiser Millennium Gold" assuming you installed to the default path. If that doesn't work, maybe a full uninstall, install game, install patch is in order. Good luck, the patch has a lot of good stuff in it!
  21. quote: Besides, you have no business disabling the readme because it was designed for you to READ IT. Indeed. I just like to print all docs post-patching process, and update my BC binder. Thus no need to view it. But consider me admonished.
  22. I noticed one odd thing when installing the patch. On the final screen, with the finish button active, the "check" button box next to "show the readme file" is not visible. But if you mouse over where it should be, it will appear. You can then uncheck it. Which I did, and the patch installed fine.
  23. This Warthog story reminds me of more than a couple of my harrowing experiences trying to limp back to GalcomHQ with my CC.
  24. Thanks! I needed some new wallpaper. Pic 2 now dons my desktop. These are the best shots I have seen yet. Nice work.
  25. Be patient, the game takes awhile to learn because there is so much to it. Read the manual, and use the search feature right here in this forum. Its probably better than any other resource on the net. Another tip. Don't try to learn everything at once. For me, I didn't even touch planetary operations until I felt comfortable managing my assets in space. This game rewards those with patience and fortitude to overcome its learning curve. At some point, you will feel comfortable with all its features and then its gaming nirvana! Also, its important to register your game.
