  1. Take it from someone who's gone through what you are going through... Keep your chin up and take care of your kids. Nothing else matters. My prayers are with you. And if I can offer one piece of advise... quote: I spilled the details of their relationship to this guy's wife, and now he is in the crapper. Don't do anymore of this. The less you are involved with your ex-wife's life, aside from where it involves your kids, the better. I wouldn't blame you if you wanted to limit your kid's exposure to this new relationship, but you take care of that by going after custody.
  2. I don't mean to drool all over your website, but I have to say those shots of the interface really have me excited especially as an avid BCM gamer. More so than the external camera shots. Its laid out almost identical to BCM but much cleaner and spiffier.
  3. quote: I'm a bit tired of having that thing blown to bits by Insurgents before I can figure out where the hell it's PTA sweetspot is. Why not use the -i (invincibility) cheat code?
  4. Great stuff Korg, thanks. Off topic but I just want to elaborate a little on what Denny said. quote: Try to dock to a starstation and repair there.... or access the TRADCOM interface and in the SPARE PART look for items with two numer separed by a slash (such as 1/0)... The first number is what you need for repairs of one of your assets systems and the second # after the slash is what you already have in inventory (need/have). So if you want to perform all repairs with your own system engineers then you need to buy until the first number is at least equal to the second number for all spare parts listed in Tradcom.
  5. Ok I didn't want to start a new thread but I have a question for the SC or anyone else that might be familiar with UC. I've put a lot of time into BCM and love the gameplay to the point where I have no desire to take it off my HD. Does UC completely supplant the need for BCM? Or do you see them as somewhat different games where maybe BCM still has something to offer, i.e. they SHOULD coexist on my HD. While I'm at it, what about the UC controls? I know the BCM controls where I can probably recite the keycard in my sleep. Is there a key config in UC that has a more or less BCM feel where I will quickly feel at home? Or is the game out of the box, VERY friendly to BCM players. Ok I think that last question is stupid but I'm curious what effect the games new direction has had on its "feel". Thanks in advance!
  6. Sweeeeet. I need to break out BCM for my fix.
  7. quote: So the play on words is that Derek is going to singe (burn or crisp) competing games. I was thinking SINGE was a great play on Derek's history with flamewars. A flip of the finger to his detractors. Poetic.
  8. quote: All components of SINGE, our proprietary Seamlessly Integrated Game Environment, have been further advanced to expand and streamline our massive game worlds. LOL, am I the only one who sees the irony in the name of the engine?? Grats SC, can't wait to play the demo.
  9. Well I finally got the chance to play through the demo. Very cool (I never played HW1). The only problem I had was finding my units. I ended up pausing the game and bringing up the sensor map often and finding units that way. Isn't there a way to bring up a list and zoom in on them by double clicking the name? Maybe I'll run through it again and figure it out what I'm doing wrong.
  10. Good luck Sun, you are going to need it. BTW, as an IT manager in charge of the desktop, who the hell would want to take on this headache to save a few bucks? I guess Sun is banking on more than a few..
  11. quote: Can anyone tell I'm addicted to BCMG already? Welcome to our addiction!
  12. Before requesting tech. support, its important to read and do what this says. Are you possibly trying to apply the BCM patch to BCM Gold? Also, I think you might be jumping the gun on the playmod thing. Assuming you are a noob, you have much to learn before you should be messing around with playmod. Also, read the troubleshooting FAQ for the version of BCM you have. You might find the fix there. For example, you can find out how to skip the opening movie so you don't have to deal with missing Indeo codecs.
  13. quote: Rubbish. It has been pushed into Q1 2004. Only they [devs] don't know it yet. LOL, I knew I could bait you to get some inside scoop.
  14. Delayed until at least December Bummer. Oh well, all in the name of making a better game I suppose.
  15. quote: I say this man be cut off from all keyboards and writing materials. And sharp instruments.
  16. How the hell are the Russians going to fund a Mars space station when they had to blow up Mir because they couldn't fund it? Smells like "feel good to be a Russian" PR to me.
  17. Not surprising. Its still playing in my area and it opened in May. Another quality flick from Pixar.
  18. I just started the first Honor Harrington novel by David Weber "On Basilisk Station". Any opinions?
  19. quote: ....and expect some big upsetting (depending on how BC gamers take it) news sometime around the end of September (or earlier). Ok here's my translation... SC wants to add features (unlikely) or get the existing feature set done right. Thus he would like to delay release to next Spring. DC on the other hand insists on a Fall release (maybe to help meet some end of year revenue target and/or jump on the holiday season coattails). The result? The two are heading for a divorce. BCM is keeping me busy so if delaying the game until the Spring brings a better BCG, then I'd welcome the news. How's that for jumping to conclusions.
  20. If you have 256 MB of RAM on one stick, your motherboard can support another 256 MB stick (PC2100) for a total cost of about $45. Thats a lot of bang for the buck. I guess that was my point about it being cheap. When you said you needed to spend $90 for a 512 MB stick, I assume you meant you didn't have a free memory slot. I can't really say I have first hand experience with the Soundblaster 16 card, but I know it is a low end card. And the onboard sound on your motherboard is more comparable to a mid-level Soundblaster, perhaps a Live or first gen. Audigy card. I'd save the PCI slot and use the onboard sound but you can certainly try both and decide for yourself.
  21. quote: DDR RAM isn't cheap IMO $80 - $90 for one 512MB stick. Ok, so you must have two 128 MB sticks. quote: I will disable the onboard sound and use my Soundblaster 16 PCI Just something else to consider. You might be better off with the onboard sound.
  22. I'm not sure what the RAM footprint difference is between 2000 and XP but I would bet its negligible. XP blows 2000 away in device support and XP will be supported longer than 2000. Both are solid OSes IMO. But why not throw in another 256 MB stick? RAM is cheap. I don't think your lack of RAM should drive your OS decision. You are going to add RAM anyway some day, right?
  23. quote: A friend of mine told me that I have to COMPLETELY reinstall the OS when I replace the MOBO and CPU of my system. Not true at all although its a good idea to do so. What Win2K doesn't detect properly can be resolved by getting the latest drivers for your mobo. Again, its a good idea to format and reinstall anyway to clear out all the crap that builds up over time. Its a pain, but worth the effort.
  24. Sounds like a foundation for a nice rig, congrats!!
  25. Look at the back of your IL-2 manual. Lock On, available spring 2002. Heh.
