Got it a little better. I redid the gothic "F" gif. It still had a little border on the the right and I managed to crop that off. That's as good as it's gonna get. Just the way those gothic letters line up. Got rid of that page break between the two tables so it comes up without a scroll bar now. Used a pic Eclipse/Antilles sent me for the station. Wold's suggestion of getting the BCM demo is great. That would give you give you an updated version. There is/was a BC3K freeware version. More trouble than it's worth nowadays. IF you can find it the very original version consisted of about ten zip files. They had to be downloaded in perfect order. If you could not download them in perfect order you had to unzip them in perfect order to a temp folder and run the compiler. Then once you compiled it you had to run the setup and install it to the default folder. I beleive that later a more integrated version came out that you could download in one swipe. I could tell you where to get the freeware bc3k or the bc3k V2.0 demo but you wouldn't like it. Us AOLwipes don't care cause we already earlobe deep in AOL. Get the BCM demo.

Chavik left the bridge deep in thought. Form a team, Blades had said. Easier said than done. There was really no one here he could trust with the exception of Rattler. Chavik wondered how many mercs were left. At least they had no loyalty beyond payment. This set off another round of thinking. At least Blades trusted Rattler. Or did he? Chavik didn't like that line of thought either and began concentrating on the supplies and the shuttles he had bought. He was amazed the shuttles had actually survived the trip. What with the attack and the transfer to the McKendrick and all. He was slightly less amazed that they had been able to follow. The scanners had been made to do just that, scan. But they had not been designed to maintain a lock on a personal ttd that was inside a military ship that transmitted with much greater power. Or so he had thought all these years. Chavik made his way down to the shuttle launch bay.where the flight engineers were just bringing in his shadows. There was a general hubbub but the crew moved quickly and efficiently. Ms. Polovoski had a good crew. The McKendrick's shuttles were moved back to their launch bays and Chavik's shuttles were jockey into some semblance of order. "Commander Chavik?" a young man asked. "Yes," he replied. Blades must have warned them he would be coming to inspect the shuttles at some point in time. "Shuttles are secure and ready for inspection sir." "Thank you," said Chavik as he proceeded towards the shuttles. The first two inspections went without incedent. He almost had enough to start a small warehouse. He should, he had practically mortgaged an entire complex to purchase the goods. It would take several months of profits from the various supply depots to make up for this spending spree. As he preused the inventory he checked to make sure Gorbush had not cheated him. Not that it would matter for the moment but Chavik had built a fairly strong network of traders and other contacts and could make life difficult for him in the future. Inspection of the third shuttle revealed a reather unpleasant surprise. When the cargo door opened a young Zelon was standing there with his arms crossed. His eyes flared briefly as he demanded, "I want my skimmer back." Chavik was dumbfounded. "Z'ed, how did you get here?" he aasked. "I stayed aboard when I set the last shuttle to track you. Now I want my skimmer back." "Son, I bought that skimmer from your employer. As much as you liked it I own it now." "It wasn't his to sell!" wailed Z'ed. "I was the one who found it in the dead zone. I found the parts for it. I fixed it. It's mine." "You shouldn't have come. do you realize how much trouble this is going to cause?" "I don't care, he was a slave driver. I never would have been able to work off my debt to him. He had it set up that way." Chavik hung his head and shook it that in this day and age such practices could still go on. It was no better than the current relationship between the Gammulans and the Falkeries. "Wait right here and we'll get you situated for now." Chavik walked over to a comms terminal and paged Blades. "Uhh Blades, we have a small problem. I suggest you have him escorted to medical and checked out." He returned to Z'ed. "Stay here, someone will be along to get you." "Not without my skimmer they won't," said Z'ed, pouting. "Yes they will, for the simple fact that it won't fit in the halls, now stay put!" Chavik left more flustered than he would have liked. Finding Z'ed aboard the McKendrick had been a shock. He couldn't blame the kid though. He did seem to have had a rough time of it when Chavik had met him. Once again in thought Chavik began wandering the halls of the ship. He was beginning to appreciate what little he knew of the Corsair's appreciation of that old curmudgeon Murphy. A thought formed in Chavik's head. Half a though. Half an idea. Half a solution to the beginning of a very big problem. Chavik began walking the halls of the McKendrick with purpose. He finally found his objective in the library. He almost hadn't recognized him but the reading light highlighted his "necklace". As he approached the Corsair slowly closed the selection he had been reading and delicately put it on the floor. He looked at the floor and appeared to be talking to himself. Chavik imagined he caught words such as "deer", "antler", "herd", and was certain he caught mention of Gallion's erstwhile friend Murphy. Finally he looked up at Chavik. "Yes?" Chavik returned the stare for a moment and swallowed. Gallion was no stranger to him or the Insurgents. Might as well get it over with. "I need your help." The Corsair began to grin. He grinned so wide it parodied the necklace permanently emblazoned on his neck.

Concerning the config.sys file above. Aren't the himem.sys and emm386.exe supposed to be loaded first? In that order? One or the other must be loaded first for other things to work. Right? Just can't remember which one. Plus, since Balor is the "lifeblood" of the Insurgency, the red in the nebula keeps the symbolism as well. It all comes in at 2253 bytes in size so it ought to load fairly well for everyone. Don't worry Hamblin. I've had jokes I thought were hilarious fall flat on their face and jokes I just chuckled at get rolls from everyone else. Oh well. Tester crumbs? Hmmm. It looks good. Very nice. RE-read the stuff on the ground ops. People are impressed. Those entries that mention speed increases, beleive them. Hope that ground isn't to dangerous to tread. It is only a crumb. Just wait for the next demo.

Yes. I'm almost sure Nivest was speaking of the upcoming Multiplayer. If he was then anything goes. We are (will be) talking of human players here with all the vices included. Bribes, payoffs, kickbacks, politics. Anything can happen in multiplay. Use your imagination. We aren't there yet so we don't know what will happen but I have a pretty good idea of what can happen.

Derek's Directive, page two of that thread, rules 4 lays out an undesignated sig. Undesignated do not have to have a rank but if you use one it should be Commander for simplicity. Sig looks ok to me Riga. You might want to include your launch base though.

I was wondering about all that. Didn't seem right that a film studio could make such a big snafu on a name like that. All I remember from renting those things is you ran around, got jumped by an icon, then went into this other screen with a combo of bad guys that threw spells at you. Then it turn based back to you and so forth till someone won. Pretty boring. But with a two day rental didn't really have time to get into the "plot". Someone could say the same about the free Wing Commander game I liked. "All you do is shoot ships, Boring." So fair is fair. Still looks cool though. On my list of movies to see.

while you are in the dos box check your free memory.

You are not supposed to use autodetect in the sound setup program. Yes it's there but it often chokes. Do not use the setup icon that looks like a miniature "Windows" window. Use the icon (also named setup) that has MS-DOS icon for it. You should not have to run that program from pure dos. And if you do how does windows know what you did when you try to start the game? Once in the setup program use the arrow keys to navigate the choices. Select and test. If it plays in the setup program it will play in the game. With one exception from personal experience. My former computer reported the DMA as 1. Setup tested ok at 1. Game would not play. Try setting DMA to zero (or anything else) and see if that works. Weird but true for me. It's broke anyway. try anything. Best as I recall. hope that helps.

Thanks guys. But, uhhhm, it's almost finished. I'll never be as good as Tac or Blades or Epsilon or the myriad other net wizards we have around here. I just want something simple. Tac, what right side menu? There is a pic over there. It's a transparent gif of Sygan overlaid onto a pic of the Trifid Nebula. The text is on the left. Epsilon, what's wrong with Times New Roman? Personal taste I assume. Upon the advice of a friend (aramike) I used a font that should be common to all puters. The Gothic font I snagged from the link on the credits page. Luckily their sample gif had the "B" and the "F" included so I just made them transparent and loaded them as gifs. I have other things I may try but thanks for the comments so far!

Go to the authorities immediately. Not only do I see extortion in there I see a very solid death threat. Don't delete them. Print them out for proof. Surely Britain has a branch of police for tracking down internet crimes. Wishing you the best in this situation. Charles

Try reading the " 'Please' Help" thread two doors down (at the moment). Did the sound setup work? Did it detect your vid card?

Haven't had one of these in a while. I liked it. It was pretty neat. Lots of cool critters. Very many funny moments. Go to the matinee if unsure but do see it on the big screen.
