  1. Aside from myself, Finder1, Parias, and Cruis In have so far reported that they made it.
  2. Appendix A has all the keyboard commands. In addition to F1 for disabling the bridge view, you can also CTRL + H to declutter the HUD. That might help just a smidgen more but I doubt much. Just how much is "a lot happens on the screen"? 20 or 30 ships present with all of them fighting, shooting missiles, flying around, etc.? Each of which must be tracked and accounted for. That'll do it. How many regions have you activated? That comes into play as well. Have you read the FAQ and adjusted your shortcut properties for the maximum benefit? You don't have sneaky little resource hogs running in the background do you? Try shutting most of your background programs off and then running the game. You konw you're going to be there for a while. . Why do the programmers do it to us? That would be Derek and it's because he wants the best and most realistic game he can make. Read the version controls file. Especially the part about NPC ships. When fleeing they no longer leave the region and drop out of the game. They go home. All the way home or to the nearest friendly base (to them) they can. Pretty damn realistic for a fictional universe I think. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  3. [RP] Derek, Pandora, and Cato are in the field looking to tag a subject. They follow it steathily and slowly. Suddenly the opportunity arise and Derek aims the BMP9 sniper rifle that has been loaded with tranquilizer darts. His view is blocked by a streetlamp for a second but he gets the shot. The subject is hit! It starts to run but quickly succumbs to the drug and staggers to the ground. It struggles against the drug while Pandora and Cato subdue it. Finally immobile Derek tags it with a large green radio transmitter tag before moving it to the reserve to study it and observe it's posting habits. [/RP]
  4. Thanks Tac. That was considerate. I've bookmarked it and will update the Balor Fleet Links page accordingly.
  5. Didn't say it was impossible. I did it. But as you point out it was tough. I could have nothing in the toolbar but the clock and the speaker icon. Even then if I pushed the game I could get dropped back to the desktop at anytime. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester [This message has been edited by Charles Lindsey (edited 10-04-2000).]
  6. Commander Morgan. Please remember to use RP tags when posting RP. It helps avoid confusion. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  7. What about Rod? hehe . Sorry, couldn't resist. Another ploy that I can't use since that was McKendrick's. Neena is free to use him if he is available; or remember McKendrick's "expertise" with the little bots. Don't get me wrong. I don't want a battalion of sentient bots running around but I never considered "Rod" sentient; I just considered him highly tweaked but still very much a robot/droid. No Johnny 5's in this universe. Don't know where Chavik was during Joy ride but the Phoenix is ready anytime as well and also unscathed; and the Necromancer I believe; plus the other unidentified cloaked ships acting as escort. But the only thing unharmed ships can do is force another stand off. Don't think I'm getting my hackles up. I'm not. But I'm thinking that think before you post should be followed fairly closely. Is this going to be the comments thread Blades? It's about turned into it already. One more thing. I think you should remind everyone where everything is in this time frame. Orion is still at Jupiter correct? Rattler's Den (Spectre) is in Antis and Earthcom is in Alpha Centauri (forget which system.) Have I got that right? Would hate to post something while thinking of the wrong location. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  8. quote:Thankyou and everyone for responding to my call for help. I hope this is enough info: * 64mb SDRAM shared memory architecture with up to11mb dedicated to video mem.. *8.4 GB ultra DMA harddrive. *Expandable and upgradable with 4 bays and 3 slots. *High vilocity V.90 K56flex data fax modem. *Integrated Intel direct AGP hardware with up to 11mb of dynamic video mem. *40X max. speed CD-ROM drive. Sound and Video: Crystal audio codecmpu-401 compatible battlecruiser version 2.07 What shortcut settings? No noticable error messages! These are his specs in case anyone who missed the other thread was interested. Definitely trying to run the 3dfx shortcut with the AGP was wrong. But only 64 meg RAM and then 11 is shared with the video? Ouch. That's about as bad as my original 48 meg RAM with 4 shared with the vid card. It's tough to run it like that. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  9. Walk, don't run, Walk very purposefully away from that girl.
  10. quote:For those who still disagree, imagine filling up your SH's cargobay with the OTS' and count how much money it would have cost you. until you have the money to fill that cargo bay up I still say the various OTS's are quicker to buy. The profit margin is the same. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  11. Finished the original Thief. That was cool. Great story. Challenging puzzles but nothing idiotic. Looking foward to Thief 2 while it's still available. I know it's old (I found it at Sam's Wholesale Club cheap) but that was a good story. I'm glad to hear "Thief 3" may come into production. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  12. Seems to work. Haven't clicked every link. But the site looks great. As for being on AOL. Well; it was the best at the time and changing ISPs is like moving a house. Links, pages etc. You have tapped a rant you just don't know it. (Get those old ladies off my ISP). Sorry for the false alarm but everything on your site seems to be working. Charles
  13. All is fine now Tac. There is a little fact I had forgotten. AOL takes a horrendously long time to update it's servers. I have updated my own web pages and had to open IE5 to get the update. Don't know why that is but it is. Aol also has a problem running scripts. IE 5.5 can run them. Yet the IE 5.5 update from Microsoft still says "Provided By AOL". Go figure. Anyway, works for me now. Looks good. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  14. Looks pretty good. At least my voice is gone. Feedback. The back button doesn't work. Personal taste I suppose but I like a clean history in my browser. Overall very nice with a good StarStation feel to it. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  15. And Tac wasn't going to bite. One more wayward post from anyone and the whole thread gets deleted. Charles
  16. Posted By Tyrn. quote:I'm sure half the "wisdom" that I have is already duplicated either in this forum or the Tips & Tricks. Derek cleaned up the forum a while back and saved megs on his server however we lost a great deal. He restored the Roleplay Forum (bless him for that) but we didn't ask in time to restore Tips and Tricks. General trading tips and Capturing Starstations got lost. Other things as well. I've "shown" Tips and Tricks to the entire listing and don't see them. I have done searches with the few keywords I thought would work. I think they are gone. Perhaps another round of Tips? Rico and I had good trading tips and there was a grand discussion on capturing stations. Perhaps some of them were copied to Andergums academy. Is that still functional? I'm dangerously close to being off topic but I think Aleksey would like anything we can give. If I coerce Tyrn into tips I have to contribute as well. Maybe Rico will help. I've rambled enough. Aleksey, I am with the others. You have the best quote:not enough good in English I have ever seen. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  17. There are a few on Blades forum as well. The link is in his sig.
  18. Wold and Rico popped in at the last. Gallion stayed for a moment as well. Then a storm hit and I got knocked offline so I decided to go get some tires. I did stay til about 5:45. One meeting down. No fouls counted. It was my fault for not advertising it properly.
  19. I'm in the galcom channel on IRC. Shoulda made a new thread I suppose. Gonna stay a while longer. got some movies and will leave the channel open. Just use the command /sound chatbeep.wav . ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  20. quote:two: Use a shuttle to find the HSD, it uses no Radine. Grace period over Tyrn. Time to start posting stuff like that in the tips and tricks forum. Plus Shuttles are faster than the BC with a hyperjump recharge time of only 15 seconds compared to 45 for the BC. Quite useful if you have to chase the darn DaisyMae. Yes I did get that far myself and chased the DaisyMae across about 6 systems and untold # of planets to catch her. IC's can dock with a Starbase but can only repair. Shuttles can trade in the Starbase. As far as ACM missions go you can send send your shuttles off to different Starstations while you are going thru the first couple of missions. You can trade a lot and get a lot of upgrades with the money you earn. Hope that was a tip and not a spoiler. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  21. I've just taken a look and your email is not displayed. You checked or unchecked (whichever it is) the box that allows display of the email address so you are safe there. I certainly won't give it out and you are free to use whatever email address you like for correspondence. As noted in other threads even the ubb link for email addresses has been disabled due to unscrupulous people. See one of Tyrn's latest posts for a fake email address generator. That's quite funny I think. assignment for either with your asset reflecting which role you were playing. Other news. Still thinking of meeting this weekend. Does 2:00 central onward to about 6:00 sound ok? Gives a 4 hour window for various commanders. Also thinking of geting an EZ Board forum like Aramike's site has. Could come in handy. P.S. Xavier we aren't using personal quotes. We dont have quite enough members for wings yet so no quote for now. Later it will be a wing motto. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  22. Hi Xavier! Thanks for checking in! Please register on the Fleet Database with a valid (not vanity; as in not hotmail, not yahoo mail, etc.) email address. A fleet meeting is planned for this weekend. Well I have planned it at least. I'm going to log into the Galcom IRC channel shortly after noon. Come join us. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  23. Finally got that spectre crest gif transparent. Hope that was ok. But it's there for anyone else who needs it. Who is available at what times for a meeting? I'm on most every might and weekends. Tomorrow would be rather short notice so next weekend ought to give everyone plenty of time to arrange schedules. That's it for now. any other suggestions welcome. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  24. What was this message from yahoo we (I) got a week or so ago that yahoo.com has now merged with webring and yahoo.com controls the rings? I followed the insructions. My site is updated. But they warned that old passwords would only work for a while. Curious. ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
  25. Ok, that's solved. Good. Minor glitch is all. In case you missed it in the other thread you still need a space between starstation and (sygan). ICV Defiance, Sygan Starstation (Sygan). Then you're set. I've been updating the links at the fleet site. Snagged a good number of current Galcom sites (hey! I heard that. I want it comprehensive ) but still need a few Insurgent links. I thought I saw a Sygan Starstation site in my wanderings. Who has that? I could find it again but if someone knows and could save me the search I would appreciate it. Rattler, what happened to your old Call To Arms page? I want to link to that for you. Insurgent One goes to the crosswinds page as requested but the old geocities page was good as well. Akira's personal site and link are current. That's a good one. Aramike, do yo have a personal commander's page? That would be nice. Not necessary but would be nice. I've got Spectre HQ but the man behind the machine would be intersting. David, same thing. I got strike ops page. Anything else you want linked to? Got Andergum's page. Another good one. Final plan is to link to the home pages of the Insurgent staff members, all the fleets, and every station that has a home page. Anything else? ------------------ Vice Admiral Chavik ICV Phoenix, Sygan Starstation (Sygan) Fleet Leader - Balor Fleet Official BC3K Tester
