  1. quote:...I'm not whining, this is out and out b*tching. ... Good IMO, this means that you are happy. I suggest that you Start a New Game in a new Pofile and do the following: Read the enclosed IACMreadme.txt file (there be some decent hints) Read and understand the mission message. Hostile craft cannot target what they cannot see. Refamiliarize yerselves with the fine BC3K manual. Pay particuliar attention to Appendix Q, Craft Database. Each spacecraft in BC3K has a MAX RADAR RANGE. Does anyone remember what a Patrol Zone is In TOD2-M2/5 the player needs to pay attention to incomming comm messages. Failure to do so will result is the player missing something. Things change in plans once contact is made with an enemy. I tried to maintain this premise throughout hte IACM. The IACM is based on the original ACM the SC scripted. This does not mean that it will play the sameway. In fact I have either completely rewrote or changed most of the original ACM mission scripts.I have toned this IACM down some since first inception. It use to be much harder folks. Think of this as the original ACM before the SC rewrote them to include Mision Success: and generally made them easier. Last hint - dont sit on your laurels performing sweep operations either. More visitors will be paying the player a call. 4. Working on third Insurgent based ACM TOD. Have it pretty much roughed out now. Should have it done by next weekend What gets me is the flexibility and simpleness of GBS. Flexibility because as a scriptor, I can do almost anything. Simpleness because it is the simple items that can cause mega head-banging days/nights and the big duh when they are discovered More news when fit to print TTFN ------------------ Fleet Commander Gallion (Pro Tem) GCV Graf Spee, Starbase Cerberus Fleet Leader - Wraith Fleet (Pro Tem) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/Corsair Wing "Run Silent, Run Deep" Corsair Cove Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series
  5. Work on endurance now. Alternate speed runs and endurance (longer) runs. Try to run 2 miles in 16 minutes or less. Pay attention to your pace. Once started - maintain it for duration of endurance runs. 2 minute lap done 8 times equals a 16 minute 2 mile run, which also equals a 14 minute 1.5 mile run (6 laps). TTFN

  11. As the subject this topic suggest, I challenge any and all so called BC3K players to play this Download and unzip into the your ..bc3000ADscripts folder. 14. [rp] 2328, 18 May, 3008 S.S. Vulture Docking Bay Entry Hatch Pixan, Lennon, Syruis York and Gallion were searched rather briskly and thoroughly by the security pukes at the entry hatch of the S.S. Vulture's. They confiscated a button that Gallion had in his trouser pocket and several things that they found on York. Which displeased the old marine to no end. Gallion chuckled, to York's dismay, as the security pukes found every weapon or thing(s) that could be turned into a weapon that York had planted throughout his attire. Once the security types were satisfied that they had found all of York's hiding places, they were given directions to the briefing room and allowed to enter the S.S. Vulture. They were shocked when they reached the briefing room. It was full of people, some they knew, some they knew by reputation, and some that they heard about. "York," Gallion whispered to York as they made their way to the refreshment area, "tell me again why the hell we are here." York just smiled and whispered back to Gallion as he poured himself a cup of java, "Well Sir, I really don'na know. But if ye doesn't like it we can always go back to 'Commie Central." Gallion shuddered some at the thought of returning to Galcom HQ. "Touch├® Mr. York, now pass me that cup over there." 2332, 18 May, 3008 Bridge of the GCV Graf Spee Lennon, Syruis ... at the tone the time will be ...2332 ..., That is what Rico thought as he sat in the Command Chair on the bridge of the GCV Graf Spee, staring at the image of the spinning Raider Station, Pixan, in the bridge viewer. He was in the middle of a deadly struggle with himself. Everything he had done in the over the past 36 hours was based on the word of a Gunnery Sergeant, an eccentric Chief Engineer, and on the unstable Research Engineer ÔÇô who he didnÔÇÖt know. In hindsight he agreed with one of his actions; the release of a communications buoy when they entered Lyrius. The buoy would transmit a message stating that the Graf Spee was in pursuit of a suspicious transport that was heading towards the Credian Quadrant and that further reports would follow. The buoy was programmed to transmit the message to Galcom HQ and Wraith HQ three times before self-destructing. To Rico the message was a half-truth. The suspicious transport did exist but he had a feeling that the transport was tracking the Graf Spee and only quit tracking them once they left Lyrius. To many things happening at one time that contradicted most, if not everything, that Rico believed in. 2336, 18th May, 3008 Station Security, Galactic Command Headquarters Earth, Sol The Chief of Galcom HQ Station Security was not surprised when the report came in; the location of the prisoner, Commander Gallion, was unknown. The search of his quarters turned up nothing other than the fact that Commander GallionÔÇÖs articles of clothing, some personnel effects, and other nick-knacks still were there. So to the investigators, and the Chief of Security, it appeared that this disappearance was not a planned jailbreak. The Chief began to dig through the various reports shrewd across his desk and he was at a loss to where the wayward Corsair had gone. He only had one fact ÔÇô a prisoner had either a - escaped, b - died, or c - was abducted. He was certain that the Corsair prisoner had not died, so he ruled that possibility out in his head. He didnÔÇÖt know about the remaining two. He had a hunch but nothing concrete to go on. To many things just coincidentally happened at the same time as the prisoner disappears and his escort is killed; explosions and minor damage to several critical systems with the station itself; a suspicious transport mysteriously appears in system and mines the Earth/Jupiter jump point; the Graf Spee launches just before all heck breaks out on the station; and to top everything off - a message buoy dropped by the Graf Spee in Lyrius stating that they are in hot pursuit of the suspicious transport heading into the Credian Quadrant. The Chief had a hunch but no proof, no solid evidence. He was back to square one with the Galactic Command Brass hot on his arse too. 15. Good suggestions all. 1.5 miles in 13 minutes = 6 laps around a 1/4 mile track (usually circles a football field). Do the math, you will have to complete a lap every 2 minutes with several seconds to spare. Not to break your bubble but I cannot see this happening with a three week train up period. Unless you were quasi-physically active Cruis. In, you will not make it in the time allotted. If this is an entrance to the academy standard, be prepared to return to the crib. If this is a n academy graduation standard then you have a snowball's chance in Hades. Best time I ever did on a 2 mile run was 12:05 - 12 years ago and I was smoking 2 packs of cigs per day. Now I cruise the 2 mile run in mid 15 minute range (15:30ish) - still smoking - cough, hack - I might add, gotta quit that one day. Key to success running is mental preparation in my experience. Running is 90% mental and 10% physical. One can work the body for a lifetime but if the mind says no then the body will follow. You will reach a point where the body wants to quit - your mental preparation must kick in at that point and push the body to not quit. This is also known as a burn through phase. All runners have experienced this in one form or another. Another key to success is to establish a pace. The airborne shuffle is a 9 minute mile pace. Not fast but one can grind the miles with this pace. It works, I have involuntarily participated many a mini-marathon with hundreds of other motley fools running and singing our songs as the miles (6-12) grind away over the past 19 years. I wish ye well in the endeavor Cruis.In. TTFN ED Note: Fixed my math Thanks harrimarkus. 20. Good suggestion Chavik Sidebar originally posted here My two bits - The purpose of RP is simple, members of the forum play out and advance their characters life, story, adventures, and misadventures. There are several rules that each player must keep in mind. For those players that participate in RP and are unfamiliar with them, conduct a forum and archive search. To summarize these rules, remember these tenants: Stay within established BC Universe boundaries as set forth in BC3K User manual. Players can modify existing BC Universe techs IF they are kept within reason and are believable; whether using proven theories or hypotheses'. Each tech advantage or modification should have corresponding disadvantage. Examples: Advantage: The Graf Spee has a stealth coating bonded/fused to armor and portions of the exterior hull that reduces sensor detect ability. When in stealth mode (like today's subs running silent), target acquisition and lock is difficult for vessels engaging the Graf Spee in combat or to detect the Graf Spee. Similar to USAF's stealth fighters and bombers. Disadvantage: Only works when weapons and shield systems are disengaged and at low speed. Advantage: Graf Spee has enhanced sensor suite known as the SES that is twice as powerful as normal sensors that are available in the game. Disadvantage: Takes up 1/3 of CB1. Subject to damage to CB1. Only works when Graf Spee is in stealth mode. Advantage: Ability to turn IFF Transponder ON/OFF. Reduces sensor detect ability when in stealth mode. Disadvantage: Can only operate when Graf Spee is in Stealth mode. Automatically activates when weapons systems are activated. Hard-coded in ship systems, cannot bypass. Imagination is the key to any story, try to keep posts plausible and believeable. Don't use or reference another player's character unless that player knows and gives you the green light to do so. To date there has not been a RP character dealth. Though I have come close to committing one. Still might Have fun Don't pollute a RP thread with bickering or belly-aching. Create discussion thread and move the debate there. Yes, I have been guilty of this in the past and try not to do it in the future.TTFN ------------------ Fleet Commander Gallion (Pro Tem) GCV Graf Spee, Starbase Cerberus Fleet Leader - Wraith Fleet (Pro Tem) Wing Leader - Wraith Fleet/Corsair Wing "Run Silent, Run Deep" Corsair Cove Official Tester, Battlecruiser Series [This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 10-24-2000).]
  21. Cry all you want. Each consumer still has a choice whether or not or acqiure any MS product. XBox wil not be the cure-all, though the specs and hype pix look good. It is cheaper to buy a company that has an excellent track record in or developed an area in this ever changing high tech world than it is to R&D in-house. The companies that get swallowed within the MS corporate maw always have a choice to say no. But the mighty $$ will break down all resistance and assimulation is garuanteed - to resist is futile (pun intended). To bellyache is a waste of effort IMO. I have no intention in procuring the X-Box anyway. 22. Major reality check and Ego buster. I was under the false inpression that if a script parsed then all would be good to go - not!. Play tested the mission scripts and encountered several problems. 1. Diplomats that launch from Majoris tend to play bumper-car for the first couple of minutes of mission. The fix is easy - have them "launching" in one minute intervals now. 2. Ran into a ep-add loop that adds 1400 EPs every tod1m4tick. Lasts until next ACM mission begins. The fix - change the ep_add from event block !destroyed f8 and !destroyed f7 to !resolve_tod1m4 in the .ghq events 104 block. Needless to say this was somewhat disheartening to me for a short time. Here I thought I knew what what I was doing too. Copy/Paste original ACM scripts that SC made fer BC3K, make a couple of minor changes to customize the mission scripts some, parse and walla - new scripts that work. Well kids, it is not as easy as that. Though I have encountered a minor setback, I am not daunted from completing this project. My error was getting a big ego and not following my tenants or the steps SC outlined in the GBS doc - RTFM and playtest each script after parse-ing it. Once each script plays as intended, copy into a campaign script. Too simple. My hat be off to ye SC, BCM scripting must be a bugger - though I still wanna try my hand at it one day in the future. TTFN and more news when I have any [This message has been edited by Gallion (edited 10-22-2000).]
  23. [rp] 2245, 18th May, 3008 Lennon, Syrius Pixan Star Station, home to the scum and rejects of the galaxy... Rico stared at the bridge viewer seeing all and nothing at the same time. His thoughts were lost elsewhere. With in his soul, he was trying to resolve his actions over the past thirteen hours. He violated a covenant that he had held since graduating the academy. all on the word of a Gunnery Sergeant and his own sense of right v. wrong. A virtual cesspool in dire need or maintenance,... Pixan star station spun in its orbit above Lennon. In approximately ninety minutes, Gunney and the Rabbit would depart the Graf Spee for reasons unknown to him. That was at the core of his dilemma, that is what bothered Lt. Cmdr. Ron Rico Cuervo so much - aside from the total disregard for Galcom regulations that his actions showed that is. ...order,... The Rabbit had recovered from the wounds he sustained during the breakout. Rico wasn't worried about the Rabbit's demeaner, just concerned what it all meant. The Rabbit's had been scheduled to meet the Grim Reaper, the judiciary proceedings were nothing but a formality at that point. At least that is the opinion that Rico held. For he too was scheduled to bear and bear witness for the prosecution. ...culture,... Rico knew that most of the charges levied against the Rabbit's were trumped up. However, there was one charge that could not be mitigated - collaborating with the enemy, 2 counts. Not even the Rabbit's was that lucky. ...and anything else... The journey to Lennon was uneventful despite the additional excitement of that strange transport near the Earth/Jupiter jump point. A totally unexpected and unexplained boon, that only heightened Rico's uncertainness and unease in his current soul-wrenching dilemma. ...that would... The Graf Spee maintained its run silent stealth mode approximately 250000km from Pixan. The preflight preparations to the modified shuttle that the Gunney and the Rabbit's would use on the final leg of their journey to Pixan neared completion. In a few minutes he would notify the Gunney and the Rabbit's that it was time to go Pixie hunting. ...or could... Something else occurred to Rico during his inward reflection. Only half of the normal crew of SEs, FEs, Medics, and Marines were aboard the Graf Spee when she launched from Galcom HQ. Something that was completely out of established Galcom policies and procedures, even for a shakedown cruise. Normally he would have caught such a blazon transgression and had it rectified before the launch - even it meant delaying the launch. However, his attention was focused elsewhere, getting the Rabbit's back into the Hat. The more he thought about it, the more he wondered that this was by design and not just a coincidence or accident. ...resemble civilization. Rico also wondered what more the Gunney and the Rabbit had up their sleeve that he doesn't or may never know about. Rico began to doubt and regret the error of his ways. Too much time on his hands... To much time to think... To much time to ponder... To much time for guilt to creep in... Too much time on his hands... 2246, 18th May, 3008 Station Security, Galactic Command Headquarters Earth, Sol The Chief of Station Security at Galcom HQ was livid. Someone or something had penetrated his security; damaged the station; and terrorized the personnel within. Needless to say he was not a happy camper. His desk was strewn with stacks of reports over this incident. Most were non-verifiable, whilst some needed further review and collaboration. Something was missing, something simple, something probably right under is nose but he was to blind to see it. The time of the incident varies from report to report, from 0740 to 0745. The Chief wrote this off to differences in timekeeping - not all timepieces were synchronized in the station. The only other thing of significance - if there is such a thing - was the scheduled launch of the Graf Spee at 0730 from Docking Bay 13. Normally, Docking Bay 13, was used for additional storage space but was cleared out when the Graf Spee came limping in several months ago - something to do with superstitions the Chief had heard. Two Marines were found dead in a passageway but no other injuries were reported. Unless one would consider the hysterical ravings of the barrister, Jacob Meyers, in the station medical facilities to count. The Chief pondered this some before he started to search through the reports on his desk until he found what it was he was looking for. "HA!," the yelped when he found it. He knew he was forgetting something simple. The Commander of the Graf Spee, the notorious Commander Gallion, Court-Martial was scheduled to begin sortly after the incident began. The Court-Martial was postponed until further notice due the security issues over the incident. A light went off in the Chief's head, he had found a missing piece of the puzzle. "Where is Commander Galion," he said into his intercom. "Unknown sir," came the reply, "he should be in his quarters." "Has this been confirmed," said the Chief, as his ire starting to rise. "No Sir," squeled the poor ensign. "Well send a team down there to find out!" yelled the Chief, unable to contain his ire any longer, "and they better be quick about it or heads are going to roll!" Probably starting with mine, the Chief thought to himself as he leaned back into his chair contemplating the ramifications of what he thought and knew in his gut the team would find - or not find.
