you could play deus ex more than once, I couldn't. even though deus ex was great/addictive and I loved it to death in all its coolness, I can hardly play through games again. In fact this game series is the only game I keep replaying.

fps, just gets better whether effects, sometimes better gun sounds... when will they get rid of the first person view? oh yeah its an fps...
-
well since all game ideas (basic premise) have been used already, what more is left to do. Besides combine them in all in one game, where you get to go anywhere in the galaxy... oh yeah Derek is doing that. BCNG... I am sorry you announced it so early. that isn't good for people's health you know. Like maybe only mine but still...

ok for a while I realised the max resolution on my flat screen monitor seemed to be 1024. It hasn't bugged me till now. I go to dells site and I see alot of the flat screen displays for sales, (the expensive ones too) are max 1280*1024 resolution. whats up with this? I mean, my Inspiron 8200, 2002 Laptop flat screen can display 1600*1200 in games, so why the hell not for this monitor which is bought in 2005? I thought if my old 2002 monitor could do it, then any monitor i could buy could do it, so didn't bother to check any feature lists. SO most flat screens highest is 1280... what do I do? Guess its back to CRT. there are crt flat screens now right? And from what I remember about CRT id prefer it over these LCD anyway, because I remember the picture was always brighter... What's with these wacko low supported resolutions on the market now?

it looks like the russian gamers say the game has lots of problems and runs "very not quickly" and that the company says if there is an english version, it wont be for a while... oh well, there is always star trek online.

oh thank goodness. I thought I had stumbled upon an elaborate joke. even though it seems to have been featured on every major news site. yeah 2007 the year space sims come back ...
-
I don't get it, why would they release the game and not update the site?
-
the forums are clamoring with the demise of this game, people are wondering if an english version or even the russian ver will be released. the devs don't post in the forums. no one knows , no one knows.

kind of unorthodox for a space game eh? anyway quote:Deep Shadows Announces Precursors the Successor of Boiling Point Punctually for E3 in Los Angeles the Ukrainian developer team of Deep Shadows presents its latest project to the worldwide public. ÔÇ×PrecursorsÔÇ£ leads the gamer into unexplored regions of space, where he can fly with huge battle ships from planet to planet. There will be hunts for blind passengers on board in large corridors or fights against boarding pirates, while outside of the space ship rockets and laser weapons are fired in stunning space battles. It will be more peaceful on planets where you can talk to different alien nations, but also must fight from time to time. Acting as a still nameless Hero, the gamer overtakes the part to survive in a conflict between two dominating races. This part is only defined by the actions and decisions that must be made during more than 250 different missions. The professional dealer deals with goods or smuggles them, a brutal bounty hunter is notorious, the celebrated conqueror governs unknown worlds; many ways are possible in ÔÇ×PrecursorsÔÇ£. With ÔÇ×Boiling PointÔÇ£ Deep Shadows has already created a believable world, where the gaming freedom is a central point. ÔÇ×PrecursorsÔÇ£ takes a step further where a complete universe can be freely explored and you can fly everywhere. On board of the space ships there will be war from time to time. Outside are stunning battles with other ships, battle stations and interceptors, while inside of the ships that are larger than 10,000 meters, there will be fights man against man! In case a ship approaches one of the most different planets, it will land on the surface and there will be battles with partly organic weapons against large numbers of enemies or you will explore one of the numerous civil cities. ÔÇ×PrecursorsÔÇ£ is an updated conversion of good old and still famous game ÔÇ×EliteÔÇ£, a modern First Person Shooter, classic science fiction movies and the world of the novels from Andre Norton. Therefore it is a mixture of very thrilling and fanciful genres and will inspire a broad range of gamers. Features: - Simulation of a huge futuristic universe - Very different planets to walk around absolutely free - More than 250 diversified missions - Partly organic weapons with ammunition that must be bred - Controllable space ships up to the size of 30,000 feet - Stunning space battles - Big number of unusual enemies (plants, insects, aliens, etc.) - Trading possibilities with complex circulation of goods - Interaction with hundreds of NPCs of different alien races Title: Precursors Genre: Space action/FPS Platform: PC Release: 2007 About Deep Shadows: Deep Shadows is a game development company concentrated on developing original games based on cutting-edge technologies. The companyÔÇÖs products are based on powerful Vital Engine comprises contemporary technologies in the field of graphics, physics, networking and artificial intelligence. out of all that and numerous other press postings all over the web about it. i could find no link to the web page screenshots etc... and the game must be far enough along now. If they hope for 2007. Anyway more searching found www.deep-shadows.com which appears to be the website of the company mentioned in that elaborate preview even though the website mentioned nothing about the game itself. It is the website because the website talks about Boiling Point and the preview mentions Precursors as the successor to Boiling Point. I know the developers are Russian but doesn't that description sound weird?? Space ships 30,000 feet in length? Or is this some old april fools joke I found. ehehehe shoot me if so!!!!

ok. I like this game premise. Meaning the open ended free form, explore 1000 worlds, shoot 1000 ships, kill 1000 people, conquer 1000 civilizations, tie your shoe lace do anything graphically great, seamless space sim. my only problem is (and I know I've said this before, and yes I know im a big nerd) that it is another scifi universe....I want the universe that started it all. Star trek!! Star trek!! I want to fly "starships". And go to Cardassia and go to Romulus and cut off Romulan Ears... not learn about new alien races named GriGari or whatever. Sadly ST Online is just an MMO. I want a single player one. star trek started scifi as we know it. no one can deny, this. other things just improved on it, and unfortunately may have become more entertaining than it. end /rant

Fe's take care of the shuttles and pre flight checks etc... sys engineers just do repairs. then they get handed to fe's for flight checks. which is why fe's are on cruisers. to do the flight checks on the shuttles before a mission. or to make them launch ready.
