Hi there
-
Welcome Commander DreadX. We need to know all the backways through those Galcom systems to deliver supplies to are front line troops.
-
There's a couple of other docs and a .jpg missing as well from the version I have. If the SC gives the nod I'll post a link for you to get them. Until then you'll just have to be patient

Reporting in Boss. Glad you like the maps but I'm artistically challenged I wanted to put some nice smooth S curves and arcs on them but could never get them the right shape or in the right place

I'm a little hypocritical on the issue of GBS-II On one hand I'm happy for it to be release so that many new ACM s / scripts can be written and played as per Gallion view a few posts above. I don't want to see scripts where the assets have been "balanced" / modified by the scripter. On the other I'm quite happy for someone (but it'll take a team because of the amount of work involved) to make an unofficial, unsupported conversion something like a B5 mod (lets not talk about the copyright issues involved) where the whole universe has been changed. If a cut down restricted version of GBS-II could be released with the world definition files locked to prevent wholesale tampering then I would push for its release. The trouble with that idea is I would have to ask the SC to spend time on the changes which I won't (your all saying I just have done ) because he has much more important things to spend his working hours on and what little free time has should be spent with his family. I've said this before in others posts but I'll say it again it has always puzzled me why so little interest and so few scripts where written with GBS-I Sorry if this post is a little rushed but I'm 5 minutes late for work probably should of waited until tomorrow to post when I could sit down and organise my thoughts a little better.

Hmm typo's really should run a spell checker over the pages when I'm done. All the right letters but not necessarily in the right order I call that FFS (Fat Finger Syndrome). quote:Originally posted by Tyrn: PS...works as is under Moz 1.3.1 Thanks for the info the code was the new code was supposed to be multiple browser compatible I stripped out all the old JavaScript and php code from the original pages and started from scratch. Yep it used to connect to a database for all the data. It would retrieve the data for any hot spot find the maximum number of characters on any line, the total number of rows in any popup which was actually a new window activated by a mouse click. from the max line length and number of rows then calculated the correct window size and position on the screen taking into account the cursor position to prevent the window scrolling off screen. For me that was complicated code and I had no chance of converting it plus it was so slow. From around 500+ lines of code its probably less than 30 and all contained on a single html page. I'm no longer checking for the right hand side or bottom page limit so just scroll the page if necessary. If you want a copy of it just select the "FULL SCRENE" (intentional typo ) from the page then "save as" from your browser you may need to change file names. Each map is made up of 2 files the .jpg for the map and the .html containing the hard coded data.

Just having a final look at the forum before I go to bed 2:40am, been testing MP all night quote:Originally posted by Tyrn: You have maps showing both locations visible from your computer. You reference those maps during game play rather than the Navitron because your maps have notes attached that the Navitron doesn't. this just struck me as being so true. only in my case I have them up on another PC html and JavaScript mouseover popups (still not converted the javascript for other browsers yet. IE only) [ 06-11-2004, 08:00 AM: Message edited by: Pugwash ]

quote:Originally posted by Kalshion: Thanks guys =) the info you gave me helped me out.. the trading run did me well.. except I didn't end up with 40 mill in one hour.. I only ended up with 6 mill =( *I MUST be doing something wrong =*( * The trick, sell everything in your asset before you launch, that includes the missiles loaded on your CC and FC's mines probes minerals, nutripacks, spareparts, I even sell most of the fuel onboard. The is another trick with the selected launch platform but thats aloophole and we don't talk about them This should give you a starting fund of a little over 4 million. quote:Originally posted by jascatar: You *MUST* buy TRELLIS as fast as possible because 1 TRELLIS selled, give you 1,5 / 1,7 millions INCOME !! You didn't say what the route was but from this Thread quote:Originally posted by jascatar: simply fly to starstation SARON (Sarien), buy some spar parts (best is TRELLIS), and sell this to starstation MAJORIS (Majora). 3 or 4 jumps only... With a MK1 shuttle, you can make 17 Millions of money per travel if you buy/sell only TRELLIS This is the best trade plan I've founded This may be one of the more profitable routes but as we are playing a campaign and are restricted in both time and the areas of space you must be in it may not be the most appropriate . Any RO item you purchase from SARON and sold at MAJORIS will give you the same % return. If you have limited space ie trading with a shuttle you should buy HULL REPAIR UNIT REACTOR REPAIR KIT TRELLIS in that order HULL REPAIR UNIT being most favourable and TRELLIS least favourable in terms of space used. TRELLIS costs around 3500000 credits and takes up 450 units of space so in an empty MK 2 shuttle you can fit 5 in at a cost of 17.5 million but if you buy HULL REPAIR UNIT 250000 credits / 15 units you can fit in 166 at a cost of 41.5 million you make the same % profit but on a larger cargo value in this case you buy at -10% of standard market value and sell at +40% standard market giving a total profit of 50% 50% of 41.5 million is a greater return for 1 trading run than 50% of 17.5 million General rule of trading 1) buy at a lower inflation station base than you sell at 2) buy the stations specialised tech type its 10% cheaper and sell at a station that doesn't specialise in that type.

MD5 encryption was disabled for the asset.ini file (although it is still at the top of the file) Once you get your hands on GBS II you can do what you like with the craft parameters So you could create a new super carrier which turns ,rolls, yaws like a fighter has the HJ time of a few seconds, the shields of the best spacestation and have turrets and main guns with the destructive power of the spacestation defences. but to what end? The game would not be worth playing, the gameplay will be unballanced. The whole point of the game is to overcome the challenges if you have a CC that can wipe the floor with everything there is no challenge. Each craft has different strength and weaknesses and are suited to different roles, Some are more suited to the way you or I play the game some more suited to how someone else might plays the game. These attributes have not been dreamed up in a rush. Derek has put a lot of time and effort into the balance of the game and I for one wont be changing anything. ok I might add more storage to the Megaron and give it MK 1 shuttles, and ATVs and APC type 1 s and ........and ....
-
LOL when I read that first post my first reaction was WTF I never escort the diplomats on mission 1 tod 1. 95 times out of 100 they make it to Majora station ok sometimes they have taken a little damage but they usually make it. That is unless Derek has changed the script He will change scripts if he thinks its a big enough loophole so don't go posting about them. So what do I do while the mission 1 plays out? I trade in a shuttle, leaving my CC parked next to GalcomHQ for protection and 3 shuttles deploying drones. (you can stop off at your CC on around the 4 or 5 th trip to give 1 of the shuttles the orders to deploy the final drone) buying anything AD from GalcomHQ and selling them at Wraith (Lyrius) 3 jumps away and a round trip of about 7 minutes (shuttle MK 2). Buy large cheap items while you have little money and small expensive items when you have a lot you only have 2500 units of storage. That's why I have a list of all items that I can sort via type and the ratio of their price per displacement. I can usually have banked 40 million + as the mission is ending. First thing you do now with this money is upgrade your CC asset to the best shields and armor. Now when you go into battle those Commanders out there who get their a$$ whipped by the AI will have greatly improved shields to protect themselves. Choose a Carrier like the Megaron and install Linear S/IV you have 8750 units of shield, with this craft if you take damage in battle with other craft you really should be thinking about finding a new game to play because in MP your cannon fodder.

looks like it is only the HOME page. If you access via http://www.bccforum.net/modules.php?name=Your_Account or any other bookmarked page you can get in Is it just me or are those Forum pages impossible to read with those colours?

OK here a fleet script, Much the same as the last one but with greater time intervals between the attacks, you now have Fleet C&C via the starting rank of SC and you receive reinforcements from time to time. When I played it the first time I thought I'd put in to many friendlies I was cursing those Commie Commanders and pilots but the Insurgents started to win in the end and all that was left of the Galcom fleet was space debrie Remember you will loose points for every friendly that gets destroyed. Well done Ben I think I should cut out a few of the scripted craft or lengthen the time between arrivals so you can kill a few more between attacks. I gave up when the frame rate dropped below 4 which was about 1 hr 20 into the script. I can't kill those fighters fast enough. I had 2 systems damaged, 2% to the Bridge from collision damage with a Stormcarrier wanted to get him before he cloaked again and 2% to Armour. You get no extra points for kills just the standard amount or any Easter eggs. If your brave you can collect those cargo pods left in the debris of exploding craft. Here's what happens Each complete wave consists of 45 scripted assets plus whatever the AI of those assets decides to throw at you. That's a total of 270 + (wave 7) + (Whatever the AI decides to do) all to kill in the 3hr long battle. Each wave consists of 3 strikes Strike 1 consists of a combination of 10 Carriers and Cruisers and some fighters Strike 2 is fighters only Strike 3 is fighters only Auto generation is on so unexpected events might occur code:time 0 w1_st1 5 w1_st2 10 w1_st3 15 w2_st1 20 w2_st2 25 w2_st3 w3_st1 40 w3_st2 w4_st1 w5_st1 80 w3_st3 w4_st2 w5_st2 120 w4_st3 w5_st3 w6_st1 130 w6_st2 140 w6_st3 w7 I'll probably modify those arrival times to just waiting for more feedback.

I've been working on this web page but run into a problem with the javascript code for browsers other than I.E. The page has popups which contain the data for the planet or system under the mouse pointer (I've still to add the data for the Flux fields) I normally just ignore the other browsers and cater only for Explorer but I thought I'd have a go at it. Armed with Goggle and some good reference sites I attempted to modify my code but I just cant get it to work for the others browsers. Here is the javascript code (for the full page code just use view source from the above link) code:<SCRIPT TYPE="TEXT/JAVASCRIPT" LANGUAGE=JAVASCRIPT> <!-- Hide script from older browsers var browser = ""; //detecting older netscapes if (!document.all){browser = "Old Netscape"} //detecting Opera if (navigator.userAgent.indexOf("Opera") > 0){browser = "Opera"} //detecting IE if (navigator.appName =="Microsoft Internet Explorer" && navigator.userAgent.indexOf("Opera") < 0){browser = "IE"} //detecting newer Netscapes if (navigator.appName == "Netscape" && document.all && navigator.userAgent.indexOf("Opera") < 0){browser = "Newer Netscape"} if (document.getElementById) { docObj = "document.getElementById('" styleObj = "').style" } else { docObj = "document." styleObj = "" } function popUp(evt, currElem) { // document.getElementById('popUpxx').style or document.popUpxx popUpWin = eval(docObj + currElem + styleObj) if (browser == "IE") { // document.getElementById('popUpxx').style popUpWin.top = parseInt(evt.y)+2 + document.body.scrollTop popUpWin.left = (Math.max(2,parseInt(evt.x)-250) + document.body.scrollLeft) } else if (browser == "Newer Netscape") { // document.getElementById('popUpxx').style popUpWin.top = parseInt(evt.pageY)+2 + window.pageYOffset popUpWin.left = (Math.max(2,parseInt(evt.pageX)-250) + window.pageXOffset) } else { // document.popUpxx popUpWin.top = parseInt(evt.pageY)+2 + window.pageYOffset popUpWin.left = (Math.max(2,parseInt(evt.pageX)-250) + window.pageXOffset) } popUpWin.visibility = "visible" window.status = "" } function popDown(currElem) { popUpWin = eval(docObj + currElem + styleObj) popUpWin.visibility = "hidden" } // End hiding script --> </SCRIPT>The code is still a little rough as I'm not taking into account the varying popup sizes, but hey when you scroll the screen the popups pop in the right place and if you are to close to the left the don't roll off the screen any help would be appreciated.

I just played through to 14:09 so I'm 1 hour 9 minutes into the script. Playing the BCMG version on my games PC the are now over 150 enemy attacking. Frame rates have taken a bit of a tumble (6 - 12fps ) and I'm thinking of lowering the grafix setting currently on 32bit 1024 x 768 I'm using the public release of the 1.00.01 patch (no beta code) so if you suffered a CTD try again because its not happening here.

Any way to start the game on "hard" setting?
Pugwash replied to Epsilon 5's topic in Battlecruiser Series
Here you go a new script E_5's Folly Similar to the Bunny and Stormcarrier scripts get it here http://www.cmdrpugwash.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk edit link edited navigate from the home page to downloads to find the script or read this thread if you don't know what to do with the files. Here's a simple script inspired by E_5 from his comments in this Thread It's more of an instant action script than a command career but if you complete it you can continue in roam. You can easily survive by running but the idea is to stand and fight. I haven't gone for to many capital ships but there are quite a few pesky fighters. If you fail to destroy the fighters quickly enough then more and more are left to track you. The problem with this is that your system could slow down so don't try to play this on a PC that only meets the minimum spec. You should start as a TERRAN MILITARY CMDR launching from GALCOMHQ The choice of asset is yours but don't choose a fighter. Two versions are included one for BCM and one for BCMG So for you n00bs how do I play Simply download these scripts and unzip them into the correct folder For BCM and only Copy the four files from the BCM or folder of the download cmdr_bcr0099.dat cmdr_bcr0099.des cmdr_bcr0099.MIS cmdr_bcr0099.txt into your scripts folder the default path would be C:Program Files3000ADBattlecruiser Millenniumscripts For BCMG only Copy the four files from the BCMG folder of the download cmdr_bcr0099.dat cmdr_bcr0099.des cmdr_bcr0099.MIS cmdr_bcr0099.txt into your scripts folder the default path would be C:Program FilesDreamCatcher3000ADBattlecruiser Millennium Goldscripts Once that's done start a NEW game but. fill in your details and choose your asset change ASSIGNMENT from ROAM to CAMPAIGN ACCEPT ROSTER > MISCON and choose SURVIVE THE INITIAL ONSLAUGHT ACCEPT Do what you want then launch. Get the script here edit maybe I should re parse this script for 1.01.01 RC7 the current release [ 06-11-2004, 07:16 AM: Message edited by: Pugwash ]

I figure we're gonna need this. quote:From the BATTLECRUISER MILLENNIUM GOLD VERSION CONTROL v1.00.01 - 05.30.03 Added IA galaxy maps galaxy_map_links_ia1.jpg and galaxy_map_links_ia2.jpg to docsappendiximagesmaps. OK the maps have no inflation level data etc (but I do have a version with the Space Station names added) I have all the data for these regions loaded into a database but I've not updated my online database yet. BCM Data I might just update the info for the BCMG world onto the BCM database and not update the webpages as a temp fix.

My games server is serving a LAN game with 2 players connected surprisingly enough (hope that's not outside the NDA) I take my Laptop to work when on nights and can normally get a few hours in when its quiet between 1 and 4 a.m. God I've got to go get a life.
