  1. quote: I also detest most of thier original movies Scriv come on, detest is a pretty strong word. Did you have HBO before Carnivale came out? If so something must have drawn you to it and enticed you to keep it so long. I know you are upset but to deny that the quality of HBO's movies sounds a little like sour grapes. When you see drivel like Locusts played at primetime on CBS you hve to agree that HBO programming is several cuts above. Alan Rickman, Paul Newman, Ed Harris, Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci fine actors who consistently choose vehicles based on thier artistic value who feel comfortable making films at HBO. Me thinks you doth protest too much.
  2. So am I! BTW when a game is OUTSTANDING I will play on an old Platform hence my addiction to Vectorman on the Genesis. However for the most part playing old games is like playing hangman B-O-R-I-N-G. Bring on 360.
  3. I can hardly wait to see this one. Im off the last week of May and will practically live at the Loews Cineplex
  4. Scriv I feel for you I really do, but I aint gettin rid of HBO. There are only a few shows on that are truly IMO appointment tv. The Shield, Deadwood, Lost, Six Feet Under, The Wire, The Soprano's.... see a trend? I hear that the Wire may be done as well and that is bad, but truth is HBO and Fx do series drama better than anyone eles hands down. I am not cutting off my nose to spite my face. i did however cancel my 'script to Showtime but only after murdering Dead Like me, Outer Limits, Odyseey5, Jeremiah, and SG-1 as well as Street Time. They have shown a pattern of not developing and maintaining promising shows and keeping dreck like Soulfood and Family Business for far too long. HBO has shown a commitment to filmmakers and artists both with thier series and their movies. Something the Lord Made, Conspiracy, The upcoming Empire Falls, Sometimes in April, Live from Bagdad, Angels in America, If These Walls could Talk, The Band Played On etc..you really want to get rid of all that?
  5. Off with her..and his head. He still wants to marry her. Talk about a match made in Heaven
  6. To Jag..Anyplace warm and human free To Jammato.. My statement is aimed more at the pathetic lot of aggressively stupid people incapable of making decisions for themselves. I realize that many novelist benefitted from Oprah's intellectual largess, but it is sad that in a country where there is a lending library in every community that so few people take advantage of them. Most have book clubs, discussion groups and book signings by published authors FREE of charge. I guess I am weary of our overall intellectual flabbiness. Have we become so lemming like we need someone to tell us what to read? I'd love to see what Flannery O'Connor, Dorothy Parker or Mark Twain would say about making Oprah list. Parker once cautioned her husband about his drinking by saying " Don't become the town drunk darling, not in New York," They dont make em like that anymore.
  7. This has to be one of the signs of the End Time, Americans having to have a rich self righteous megolomaniac tell them what to read! What's next "Oh Oprah! what toilet paper should we use?" I'm moving to a cave...I am really starting to dislike the Human Condition as it exist right now
  8. Does anyone actually own one of these? Why are we still talking about this?
  9. I'm old so what do I know, but i think games are just fine. I mean my generation played friggin' Pong for days on end! I think that peoples expectations are too high and that they would enjoy games a lot more if they did something other than play games all the time. There are more type of games, more platforms, more titles and more people playing games than ever before. I think a lot of Gamers dont feel special anymore cause they are no longer the fringe, but the mainstream. I mean to say the games are limited to a few types is like saying movies are dead becuase all we have are comidies , dramas and tragedies. For every Porky's there is a Raging Bull., and for every Drake and 99 Dragons there is Halo, or Half Life or Civilization. In this life there are more strikeouts than homeruns, but we always remember the homers forever. I still feel wonder and awe when I play a great game and the AI does something unexpected. I still remember planning my first combined aerial and ground attack on a Gammulan colony, or the first time a German threw a grenade back at me after I chucked at them in MOH. I love games but when I get bored or frustrated I puy em down and play with my kid, or read a book, or go fishing or do paperwork from the office, until I get the overwhelming urge a few days later to go down in my dungeon and lose myself again for a few hours. I guess I'm saying that I dont see a great problem , that I love games and that I feel bad for people who have lost interest. That just leaves more for me in the used section of the local gamestore.
  10. Prince went through some similar issues a few years back. I am pretty sick of people's artistic vision being sullied by conglomerates who take all the money from the artist and offer very little in return. I hope the record business as we know it disappears and is replaced with artists releasing thier own music. Linkin Park will be just fine without Warner Bros.
  11. I agree. Very astute Cc
  12. Its a hoax. But the guy who found a fingertip (actually a fingerprint) in his chicken sandwich at Arby's is unfortunately for real.
  13. Dude Im warning you...you dont want to go there with Jag. Save yourself... and us from a fate worse than death. He know this shit bkwd and fwd. Give it up while you are still behind.
  14. The GS here started requiring a valid DL for all trade ins and console sales. Even though I am real tight with all the Sales people thay still card me everytime and last month they called me at home asked what game I traded and how the trade worked out for me. I like GS better anyway as the local one lets me hang out a talk about games and treat me the same when I spend a couple hundred or trade a game and buy a discount title. I also love getting Game Informer every month as a perk. Last month they had a trade in special..extra ten bucks for non sports titles. I traded in Mercernaries, Project Snowblind and Call of Duty and got like 90 bucks in trade. I then bought used copies of Doom3, NCAA 2k5, ESPN Baseball 2k5, Fight Night 2005 and Star Trek Shattered Universe, and still have store credit for a few bucks. You get a 10% discount on used games and that saves me a few bucks. EB nevr did it for me. I went in and asked a clerk there if Drake/99 dragons was a good game and he said it was pretty good and " Has its following" Oh yea who would that be Stephen hawkings and Stevie Wonder? No thanks EB. Im sure my experience isnt universal but I learned you vote with your feet and mine are headed to GS.
  15. You guys a still playing PSOne games? I tried a month or so back. G-Police a game I used to love made by the same guys who did Colony Wars, Medal Of Honor Underground and Mechwarrior2. After an hour poly filled glory I put Chronicles of Riddick back in the XBox..what a rush! I have an extensive collection of PSOne games and even if I had a PS2 I dont think I'd be playing them. Rock on dudes, different strokes.
  16. Am I the ony one pulling for the bad guy! Chloe makes me long for the day Jack's daughter returns.
  17. No matter what they do that suit still looks goofy. Oh well I hope the movie is good.
  18. Jag ! Bout time too! Now comes the horror of MOVING DAY! You have my condolences and Im really happy for you and the family.
  19. A big steaming load.
  20. Oh yea, special thanks to Tac whose suggestions were both funny as hell and helpful..nice save dude.
  21. Phoenix is looking more and more like a reality.I LOVE Pgh and my Steelers, but this winter took a lot out of me and my job is becoming a never ending sinkhole of of unbearable, relentless pressure. Meanwhile my little girl and I have continued and I think my wife is a little jealous! Jag and Echo were so right. No more references to the Evil One!
  22. You are DREAMING if you think Microsoft and XBox is going anywhwere. Microsoft is the 800 lb gorilla who could afford to lose money on this thing for ten years and still not be affected. PS2 has more customers due to a lot of factors that have nothing to do with what machine is better! Sony's exclusive software has a lot to do with it, as does the number of people who already had a PSOne, buyer loyalty, brand preference etc.. bottom line PS2 sold a lot of units without a hardrive and later added it on as an expensive accessory. Truth be told who really plays PSone titles on their PS2 anyway? When those next gen consoles come out you can believe I wont be playing 5 year old software on em. XBox delivers consistently better graphics, is gaining ground with thier exclusive software and has Xbox live. Anyone thinking they are going anywhere should renew thier membership in the Flat Earth Society.
  23. Too bad they air episodes like that after they have been cancelled. I even liked the new opening!Too bad Manny Coto came on so late as this seasons eps are much more interesting.
  24. omg! What is that now nearly five hundred bucks!
