  1. Any of you who are Gerry Anderson fans(Thunderbirds, Space 1999) might be interested in the recent release of the only season of"UFO". UFO was a 60's sci-fi series about the covert SHADO or supreme headquarters alien defence organization, that employed space based air based and sub based interceptors that battled a strange alien race who was secretly attacking Earth. It was ahead of it's time in a lot of ways and the tech was way cool(at least it was back then) The dark nature of a lot of the stories was way different than any show of it's era. Many of the Space 1999 actors were featured here as well. Check it out it's worth a look.
  2. The technique is sound enough that a number of Fraternal order of police leaders around the country are in favor of it. But I guess they are "gun control socialists" as well. Give me a break! Any tool that assist police in catching bad guys should be applauded, but once again the gun crazies show they lack brains as well as a conscience.
  3. Would you say XTC is a forerunner to modern speed metal? Sure sounds like it.
  4. Fox you are a man of great taste, I'll have to check out NHL ASAP or whenever I get tired of UT2003.
  5. National championship 1976-77 Fox ya big jerk and I was 17 at the time and was actually recruited by Pitt until they saw me in person and timed me in the 40.Next stop the NAIA..(ha,ha,ha) Oh yea loved the BC game,we managed to beat them you know last week. Good luck in the Outback steak Bowl..Hardeehar...
  6. Okay we get it you don't want to see the film Jag and that's your right , but please don't wave those obscure right wing rags around as if they were legitimate press. You have made abundantly clear that you have all the answers and that you are incapable of even entertaining an idea that differs from your own , skewred tortured nilistic paranoid point of view but for christ sake that's enough! WE GET IT! Everyone on this site know where you stand just give us a friggin break from having the same right wing ravings ad nauseum regurgitated over and over again without a hint of an original idea. Next you'll be quoting the John Birch Society. That is why I will personally never post on a political topic again. It's not enough to disagree,we have to be subjected to verbal assaults and questions regarding ones mental competence. There can be no exchange of ideas if their is no respect of the others point of view something that is apparently very alien to you.
  7. Madden 2003 has added some rock tracks to the normally repulsive hip hop tracks that have been the norm. I'm an old guy but I really like a few called "Suk It Up" by hed"Just Like you" by Good Charlotte and "Awnaw" by Nappy Roots and POD. My respect for whippersnappers has soared.
  8. I know this is a little provincial, but I am so pumped about the performance of my Pitt Panthers in thier amazing upset of the nations No#3 ranked Virginai Tech Hokies. to my friends from abroad this is the equivalent of say Manchester United losing to an American MISL team..in England. Go Panthers!
  9. Haven't seen it but it's on the list. Owen Wilson is one of the funniest human beings(unscripted) alive. If you get a chance to see him on a talk show check it out,he's a really clever guy.
  10. I hope it didn't scare you girls too bad. I can't believe my personal hero and our fearless leader can't stomach gore. Oh the shame of it all.
  11. I was referring to the topic starter not you, but if the shoe fits....
  12. I hope to God a great actor like Richard Harris won't be remembered by most as friggin' Dumbledore. He was an accomplished film and stage actor with great range and in his youth a very powerful presence. He will be missed by all who appreciate the craft of acting and the art of film. Excuse my snippiness but to be remembered for such a minor role is the equivalent of calling Olivier "that guy in the Boys from Brazil"
  13. F*cking Yoda!!?? oh wait let me think..smart as hell, old, chicks dig him and he totally kicks ass YODA RULES!!!
  14. No wonder I joined the Air Force.
  15. Fox,(and other army types) I tried to join the Army but they said my ASVAB was too high! Just kidding; someone's gotta slog thru the mud. [ 10-28-2002, 12:39 PM: Message edited by: Race Bannon IV ]
  16. Anyone who can't tell the difference between a liberal and a nut job needs to have their head examined. I strongly disagree witha number of Righties on this thread but know the difference between them and Timothy McVeigh
  17. Ahh, Jamont....where's the link? Maybe we'd like a laugh too.
  18. Veteran of the Bomb droppin Air Force. AFSC 81153 Security/Law enforcement Best unit: 7206th SecurityPolice Squadron Hellinikon AFB Greece (16th Air Force) Never got to shoot anyone but did once stand in front of an angry crowd of Greeks(about 10,000) demonsrtating to close our base. Stood shotgun while our translator explained in detail our use of force policy regarding our SAC det.(basically shoot first and ask no questions if you come on the flight line) That really got thier attention!
  19. I think I have a fair idea of how the economy works and your implication that disagreement with you is tantamount to being wrong is the very reason it has become pointless to expect any intelligent discourse out of people of your ilk and why I personally will no longer include my self in it. Do you seriously suggest your oversimplification of a complex subject like the economy is the only reasonable point of view? Are you suggesting that every economist who disagrees with you is wrong? Because many do at least as many as agree with you. Regarding your fake Adam Smith free market rant, that too is an oversimplification. The success of free markets is supported by Democracy and Peaceful dipolomatic relationships in foreign policy. This is an important triad that collapes when one leg is removed. It is clear to anyone with half a brain this administration does not practice or support diplomacy at any level above saber rattling. But since your mind is forever made up and your eyes blinded by the false light of self righteousness you will probably never see beyond your own limited and intransigent parochial point of view. Post Script. It is a shame that one with so many answers is limited to spewing them venomously somewhere they will never see the light of day. You should run for office if you feel that strongly
  20. Are we that far apart? What was so bad Please eleborate.
  21. Fox , you're back you old war horse. I trust things are well in Springfield? And don't you worry about the beer thing I'm sure you'll find ye olde tavern serving Chicago's own Old Style Beer in record time. And please develop a social life while you're still young(ha ha) The Evil One says Hi to Spawn. Note to college students word from Dr. Hunter S Thompson( A gun toting liberal)To paraphrase him "While I certainly couldn't advocate the use of drugs and alcohol I must say they always worked for me.." From "Where The Buffalo Roam"
  22. From happy to be Clueless, Dear Jag, It is clear that while you very articulate you seem to never hear anything that changes your opinion. Anyone who disagrees can't have a differing opinion they have to be clueless, uninformed, without morals etc.. See a pattern? It must be great to always be on the right side of an issue(no pun intended)but I find it exhausting to read your posts because of thier mindnumbing Christopher Hitchins-like blame Clinton sameness. Are we to believe that nothing untoward was done on the part of the Republicans in Florida? That none of our current economic situation is at all the fault of the current administration? Is it in you to admit any wrong doing or incompetence or just plain mistake making on the people on your side of the aisle? Also it necessary to insult daily the beliefs of those who do not subscribe to your world view? It is really quite tedious and frankly intellectually unsatisfying. I guess the term agree to disagree and the concept of civility is completely unfamiliar to you. I hope it isn't because as much as disagree with you I respect your opinion and your right to having it , but I don't get the since that you feel the same about mine.
  23. Good save. I guess my main points were my dissapointment with the President ignoring the very issues he ran on and politicizing an issue that should be above politicization. We have an econmoy in extremely bad shape with investers daily living and dying by how the markets close. Working americans who have contributed to retirement accounts watch as their pensions and 401k's lose value quarterly. Mine has lost about 20% of it 's value in the past year alone and the administrations response? Let's put your Social Security benefits in the stock market as well. Homeland security? Think anyone in DC feels secure? I have friends in DC who tell me the homeless are offering thier services to pump gas and load groceries. I think a lot of people in DC know what it's like to live in Belfast or Jerusalem. I guess if it's domestic terrorism that's not a concern to the White House. It's great that the President threatened Taft-Hartley and ended that situation in California but the economy lost nearly a billion dollars a day before it ended. What's more the long term effects won't be evident until we see how much the price increases on electronic items and toys(the items most affected by this situation) Most of all what I see is a tremendous leadership vacuum. Roosevelt,Eisenhower,Kennedy and even as much as I hate to admit it Reagan , all were strong leaders. Where is the President's leadership? What legacy will he leave when all is said and done. Has diplomacy in foreign policy been permanently replaced by reactionary saber rattling? How much longer does the public have to stand by why greedy CEO's loot thier companies and simeotaneously lay off hundreds of workers, while over valuing stock they know is worthless. It appears some people are only tough on crime based on the amount of money stolen. Steal Jaguar's tv, get shot and go to jail. Steal company profits and cook the books on corporation that manufactors tv's and get a fine and a slap on the wrist.(NO offense to you Jag, only used you as an example since any theif fool enough to break in your house would undoubtably be shot) In the end we all want to be moved. To feel part of something special and right. To not be afraid but to be proud of our country and our place in the world. I don't want to be convinced the sky is falling everytime to small time despot raises his head in an international game of whack-a-mole. Show us some leadership Mr.Bush and even some of us liberals will be willing to follow. We are waiting
  24. Now that's what I call spam in a can.
  25. The what now on Korea is we don't want any part of them right now. Saddam is a much easier target. We were able to beat them for a number of reasons ignored by the "rush to war" crowd. One that isn't discussed much was they were poorly trained and poorly equipped and hungry to boot. Ever hear the saying an army travels on it's stomach? They are not talking about low crawling they are referring to the ability to supply and feed itself while in combat.Saddam's units were surrendering to unarmed journalists! Do any of you think that would be the case with North Korea? I will guarantee you an alternate plan , be it sanctions or a diplomatic approach will be adopted. Bush wants an easy victory just in time for the elections or the appearance that it will be easy to provide coattails to regain the majority in the senate. With Korea admitting they have nukes , based on what you rush to war folks continue to post (ad nauseum ad infinitum) then by Gawd we should be drawing up plans to invade right now. But we wont because the security and safety of this country was never the issue to begin with. I guess we have successfully dumbed down the presidency to the point where all he has to do is look tough and give speeches. If that's the case, I 'm voting for Coach Bill Cowher next election. He's tougher and at least writes his own speeches. [ 10-18-2002, 09:56 AM: Message edited by: Race Bannon IV ]
