  1. As anyone who has ever read one of my posts know I am an unabashed old school liberal. However it is Donohue and people of his ilk that really give us a bad name. Mealy mouthed lacking of any true conventions and worse ..afraid of conservatives and their sensiabilities, they are true wussies and that aint the word I wanted to use. Here was a perfect opportunity to challenge the reactionary infantile and unfortunately , popular notion that video/computer games cause violence and in stead attempting to skew to the middle of the road and like many of his kind afraid to speak out forcefully on issues that separate liberal and conservative thought and lap dog anxious to find common ground , Donahue *****ed up , big time. Under no circumstances will I ever allow his putrid blend of pseudo liberalistic pablum to pollute my airways.
  2. Friday nights is by far the best night for us science fiction fans. The Dead Zone(is it me or does Anthony Micheal Hall have a disproportio- nately large head?), Farscape (sorry Grayfox I'm hooked), Stargate SG1 (hasn't missed a beat with Micheal Shanks departure) and my personal fave Odyseey 5. I posted on this show before and would be interested to see if anyone else is watching and if so what do you think? I feel it gets better each week and the decided lack of "little gray aliens" as the culprit is dead on for those who are X-Filed out. i hope you respond and post your favorites
  3. Isnt Homeland Security the name the South African bully squads used in aparthied? That name gives me the creeps! Makes me think I should be practicing the goose step.
  4. I've just returned from Florida by way of Northwestern Pa , and while I was in Tampa far from SC land , I can't imagine it's any cooler , less humid and has smaller bugs than I saw there. I mean some of the mosquitos were prehistoric and of course we now have the West Nile boogie to be worried about so I carried a can of Raid with me every where I went. But that is not the only reason I 'm not jealous of SC anymore 1) I'm cooler than he is. I know this cause my wife told me so. 2) Derek Smart hates puppies. I saw him kick one once. I think it was him..yea it was him kicking puppies. 3) The SC thinks Moulin Rouge desrved the Oscar..really he did. 4) That is not his real picture Derek is really a short Romanian guy with boils and a well concealed hump. I know cause some guy named Shirley told me so. I said surely you can't be serious and he said " How'd you know my name was Shirley?" 5) Derek Smart has magic powers to make you like him. I myself suffered from this spell but it was broken when I was bitten by a large insect like on Farscape last week. 6) Derek Smart hates pizza. He once told me it was a capitalist tool to control the masses..the fiend Oh I could go on and on but I'll end it with this last reason. I'm not jealous of him cause he doesn't hold himself up to be a big shot and because he actually converses with the people that buy his games and makes numerous patches to fix the game so we can continue to enjoy it. I mean if this becomes a trend what will that mean for the game developers of the world?
  5. I'm Baaack! and by the way isn't much easier to focus on the terrorist with the rag on his head? I mean when we thought that the Taliban was behind the anthrax scare it was in the media forefront daily. Now that we are reasonably sure he (or she) is from the ruling class, probably a former employee at Dugway Proving ground or a similar military playground no one gives a sh#t about it. Last I heard those anthrax victims were still DEAD. I'm not a fool I know where the greatest threat lies and support any reasonable effort to root out terror , but let's admit there is a double standard. When McVeigh blew up that federal building(until 911 the worst terrorist act on american soil)there was no hew and cry for racial profiling , but the three times I've flown since 911 I have been "randomly" selected each time to be searched. A minor inconvenience since I have nothing to hide , but its no coincidence and I have vowed to not fly again for awhile. Anyone who thinks that Bush or any american politician is above using 911 to further thier own agenda is simply fooling themselves. Anytime I see someone saying that "we" have to give up our civil liberties and priviliges makes me nervous ,and most of the time the person saying it won't have to give up sh#t. The comparison to today and McCarthyism is frighteningly valid.
  6. Well whataya know? I'm a bleedin limey!
  7. Guilty pleasure alert! "Southie" starring Donnie Walberg , Rose Mcgowan and Anne Meara.
  8. I hope you are having a good time. I was stationed there in the early 80's. If you can get to Hydra and Poros, two islands less travelled by tourists. Rent a scooter and tool around beautiful Poros. Make sure you eat some souvlaki on pita and kaliamari so fresh you'll scarcely believe it. The water is so blue around Hydra I still see it in my dreams twenty years later. I really envy you Jamont,I hope you have a great time and post pictures. 9. Unless you too have been trapped underground , you have no doubt seen the saga of 9 coal miners who were trapped when they struck an uncharted underground river. I really thought that after 24 hours there was little chance they would be still alive. Much to our suprise they were all found in relative good health after a herculean rescue effort. As this happened in my "backyard" (pgh area) we have seen a great deal of coverage during and now after the rescue. Now here it is Monday morning and we are inundated with interviews of thankful family members, courageous doctors and nurses and the unflappable work crews who made it all happen....again. I mean did someone else get trapped? aren't they out now. Do we really need to see pictures of the cranes that hoisted them up? of the empty luncboxes they carried , interviews with their uncle Larry who wasn't even on the site? This is the kind of crap that makes me hate the media. Sticking a microphone in someones face and asking them "Are you happy to be alive?" What do they expect them to say? "No I kinda wished I had drowned down there instead?" Overkill. We are beaten over the head with the story and are powerless to stop it. Do we really need a "closer look at 6 and 11" or interviews replayed on the national news and all the local broadcasts for the next three days? Am I the only one who feels this way? If I'm out of line let me know. [ 07-29-2002, 03:31 PM: Message edited by: Race Bannon IV ]
  10. Sc if you have any idea where I can pick up Nightmare in Chicago , please let me know asap via private message if necessary. It is the only one I don't have.
  11. I've got some more in that little known vein. -Thick as Theives - Crime Caper with Alex Baldwin Micheal Jai White(Spawn)Bruce Greenwood(13 Days)and Janean Garafolo. Very cool flick! - A Murder of Crows-Thriller starring Cuba Gooding is well worth a look with some great plot turns. -Q: The Winged Serpent- Micheal Moriarity stars in this Corman-Cohen production with special creature effects by Ray Harryhousen. If you haven't seen this clever mix of blood , gore humor and x-files / Kolchac the Nightstalker run don't walk to the nearest Blockbuster or Hollywood video. It is a frequent feature at our midnight movie parties and never fails to get a sack of laughs. -Nightmare in Chicago- This is Robert Altman's first film and unfortunately very hard to find. Should you luck up you will see a precurser to the slasher / serial killer movie shot brilliantly in black and white. It's the story of "Georgie Porgie" who never learned to play with others , on a killing spree of epic proportions. -Dead Alive- Please do not Eat prior to viewing this movie. You have been warned. -Freeway- In case you missed this one rent it immediately. Reese Witherspoon , Bokeem Woodbine , Kiefer Sutherland , Brooke Shields and Brittany Murphy star in this in your face remake of Little Red Riding Hood. The one liners alone are worth
  12. SC I swear I was going to recommend this movie to you when you alluded in a post that there were no big releases you were interested in , but decided not to. I thought you would think it was too "art house". Myself I love movies and "films" but wasn't sure anyone else would like a small character based story with no explosions , catch phrases or car chases.
  13. Only if you're doing it in the buff(sans knickers for you Brits)
  14. Who cares? have you seen this women ? she's beautiful! News flash Brittany can't sing and Anna Kournakova sucks at tennis. Again who cares?
  15. Would anyone know whether the Japanese cartoons I watched as a kid actually qualify as anime? (Yes we did have TV back in the Olden days) Shows like Prince Planet , Tobor the Eighth Man , Astro boy were animated and there were several live action shows that rocked too , Ultraman and Starman come to mind. If anyone knows where I can get ahold of an of these please let me know....Mygod I just realized as much of a geek as any of you.. the horror..the Horror! Anyway if I liked that stuff would I be interested in this Robotech stuff? [ 07-24-2002, 03:03 PM: Message edited by: Race Bannon IV ]
  16. Me too , well actually Friday is my last day till August 19th , just two and a wake up and I'm Florida bound. One week at the Ancestral home in Tampa (no Fla Keys this year)on lovely Jim Lee Rd. Then back to Pa's Presque Isle state park for three days with my buds fishing for Northern Pike and Muskee. The official 4th annual He-Man Woman haters club , no wives of girlfriends allowed. The rest of my time will be spent playing BCM, MW4 and hopefully UT baybee! Lastly , my wife and I might actually HAVE SEX! While it is only tentative at this writing my mom might actually take the Evil One off our hands long enough for me to get lucky with out door watching. I 'm sure some of you know what I mean. wish me luck.
  17. Ouch, that really hurt Fox. I'm in the know now. I'm on my way to Target and Babbidge's to cruise the discount bins for the original. Ciao.
  18. quote:..Farscape can lick my arse... Posted by Grayfox. LMAO!!!! Fox you just have to learn to stop holding back so much say what you really feel!
  19. quote:I vote for Vegas... Originally posted by Grayfox. Yeah I can see it now .. Me and the Fox drag racin' down the strip him in his tricked out Focus wagon and me in the chick magnet Protegewith the "Barney Rules" bumper sticker with the Evil One riding shotgun. And by the way SC, stop being so antisocial. What's wrong with 100 or so crazed Bc fans soaked in a pungent combination of Perspiration and St Pauli Girl? Is that so wrong?Besides we'll bring the chips and promise to clean up after.
  20. Personally, I resent Resnig's creator making Resnig jokes. It is you SC who brought this horror upon us. How dare you sir!
  21. I NOW know what Unreal Tournament is and just got back from EB (preordered one) and all I can say is Whoooooo! Of course I have to now search the bargain bins to get the original. As a result that that leaves little time for the wife and the Evil One. Silk . you can expect to be called as material witness in my divorce procedings
  22. Silk be gentle ..it's my very first time.
  23. My thoughts exactly...who's bringing the chips?
  24. Thanks for clearing that up Enigma. Us forty somethings just can't keep up with you young peoples trends and fads . what with your disco music , breakdancing , streaking and pet rocks it all too much for us. Excuse me , blame it on middle age crazy aka early signs of Alzheimers.
