  1. He doesn't need the full PDF manual. Every copy of UC comes with the full printed manual.
  2. Important events since Duke Nukem Forever was announced in 1997
  3. Yes, its real. Yes, the footage is ho-hum at best; when compared to current gen fps stuff Yes, they said the same damn thing when they released - yet another teaser - back in, uhm, '99? http://www.fileshack.com/browse.x/311
  4. Popularity wins the vote.... Though I already made the decision before even five votes were in. http://www.3000ad.com/site/news/
  5. Based on several discussions and the recent expiration of the GameTap exclusive on the original Echo Squad, we have started working on the Second Edition version for public release in January. You can read the full release on GNN.
  6. Forgot to post about this earlier this week when the NPD figures came out. But, yep, they both are DOA. I can't imagine what they were thinking; given the glut of fps games out this quarter.
  7. I agree with 7/10. I expected more from this movie. At least now we know why it wasn't released as a Summer blockbuster. It would have been DOA.
  8. Thats how it works. And in the even the that hostiles and friendlies meet, then there's fireworks. I'll just add that stations also spawn ships with planned routes. The GLOB_AG.SCR file in the GBS shows how the parameters work regarding AutoGeneration.
  9. That would be pointless because given how advanced TE is compared to the standard ES, there would be no point.
  10. The GALCOM titles are completely different. So, don't compare them to any previous "series" such as BC/UC. There is no "roam" mode in the game. Even if there were, it is highly unlikely that you would survive in a fighter. I already made this clear (you probably missed the memo, like everything else) that this series wasn't for those of you who prefer the style of gameplay in the BC/UC series. So, uhm, don't play it. True. But you can't start a series by keeping it locked to a closed system (GameTap).
  11. Its not a bug. Vehicle units use the same ordnance. Whether you can fire them or not depends on the unit. Obviously a tank can't fire missiles. Unless you're a team leader, they won't follow you.
  12. Following this discovery of back on 11/29 (scroll down to post #499) and this Joystiq entry Some restructuring(?) is going on at GameTap it seems. That first post is made by the head of GameTap btw. Notice GameTap is always changing and evolving. Part of that evolution has been to work with our content partners to re-negotiate existing contracts and sign new ones so that games are available in as many of our game content areas as possible - sale, subscription or ad-supported. During that process we made the decision to remove a small number of games. That removal is what allows us to sign up more deals for 2008 that better fit what GameTap has become, rather than what it was when we launched.

  15. As per this posting, I have been trying to decide on what to do with Echo Squad, now that the exclusive period with GameTap has expired. Since Talon Elite, which is more advanced, is on track for release around the end of March 2008 on the PC, I am somewhat hesitant to release Echo Squad to the public and outside of GameTap. On the other hand, it is a completed title which and being the first in the GALCOM series, really should be out there; especially in the hands of non-GameTap subscribers. While it can be offered for digital distribution (there is not enough time to do a retail boxed version without it encroaching on Talon Elite territory), I am still somewhat skeptical that being an older product, it may just not be worth the aggravation. However, seeing the dearth of space combat sims, coupled with the rubbish that is being released these days, I can't help but wonder if I should even bother. So, what do you folks think? Respond to the poll and post your thoughts.
  16. Yeah. I usually use my offline gamer tag which doesn't seem to show all the games I've played. Weird. I should have Mass Effect, Bioshock etc in there.
  17. If you are a sci-fi fan, then you most definitely should. Its worth every penny.
  18. Exactly. They just end up taking up processing time and serving no purpose other than being litter or laser fodder. That was in fact another reason they were disabled. Those launched from stations can in fact RTB, but those launched from cap ships can't since the cap ship may have either left the region or been destroyed. Unlike crafts (fighters, shuttles, vehicles etc), space force marines don't have the same AI required to handle a missing RTB target.
  19. OK, so I bought the Razor EE DVD and watched it this past weekend. It was quite good. Pacing, storyline, acting, specialFX. Everything was top notch. 10/10 Now if only they had actually kept this sort of thing with the series, it wouldn't have had low ratings and thus canceled @ year 3. Oh well. Razor reminded me of how the show started out. Then they went and screwed it up with rubbish plotlines, political nonsense and whatnot. They turned the fracking series into Dallas In Space. Stupid mofos get to do shit like this while worthy far like B5 and Farscape get canned.
  20. I removed it because they were just cluttering the regions because, due to the vast expanse of the space regions and the relatively low speed of the jetpacks, they really couldn't do much combat, compared to marines on the surface. So yeah, I disabled the ability for cap ships to launch marines to attack stations and thus the ability for stations to deploy SFM counter measures. I'll probably re-enable it in the next CE patch (with the dynamic weather revisions).
  21. You probably screwed something up in the prior TOD missions. Also, you need to check your patrol zones. Regardless of where you are, if anything adverse happens in those zones, you will be penalized. Data about violations and EPs are in the appendix. Where they've always been. A drop in EPs will lower your rank automatically. You need to go back to the prior saved game (before you started M4/5 and trace your footsteps. Since the scenarios are linked and part of a cohesive storyline, even that won't help, since you could have screwed up earlier on. Also, don't read the script, but I'm not going to detail what is going on because I simply don't have time. However, those hostile ships do not decloak in order to attach the station. And for crying out loud, those ships are coming all the way from Lyrius to attack Starpath - in Mars region. Do you know how far that is?
  22. Nothing in this regard has changed in the game since the original UC. The dropping of cargo pods has always been randomized.
  23. Go read the script source (CMDR_C0005.SCR). In fact, here is the excerpt. Nothing special - or showstopping - about it and I see no errors in it. And if you want to modify the script, be my guest; thats why sources are provided in UCCE. However you got those violations, you probably deserved them. If you don't know how violations are assigned, try reading the manual. # # TOD3 4/5 # [acm] CAMPAIGN: TOD3 M4/5 THEATRE OF OPS: MARS/SOL MISSION CLASS: DEFENSE SHIELD SUCCESS: PREVENT STARPATH FROM BEING CAPTURED OR DESTROYED . 24. heh, what are u excited about? You already have those games.
  25. Turner's exclusive period for the deployment of Galactic Command - Echo Squad on GameTap, ended on 12-06-07. What does this mean exactly? It means... You will probably still be able to play/purchase the game via GameTap once they have it on their relevant pages. We [3000AD, Inc] can now release the title through other mediums (e.g. boxed retail, digital distribution). But I have no plans to do that at this time. Why? Because Talon Elite, the second title in the series - and a far more superior one in many aspects - is due out around the end of March 2008. And it is on track. That puts both titles too close together. Especially when you take into account the logistics involved with deploying new titles into retail (like we did with UCCE through Take 2) and even via digital distribution (contracts have to be signed, the title protected using specific DRMs etc). Also, releasing Echo Squad will, quite possibly impact Talon Elite I think. I don't intend to push Talon Elite into another quarter, unless of course I go ahead and release both the PC and XB360 version at the same time (Holidays 2008). This will give any Echo Squad release, some breathing room. One idea I had was to (1) upgrade Echo Squad to use the more advanced Talon Elite [space] graphics engine, but not upgrade it to use the all-new 3D assets (2) release it via digital distribution only at a low price point of $19.99. However, though Echo Squad is 100% completed (since earlier this year), doing the graphics engine upgrade will take upwards of a month, all by itself. Plus, even though Echo Squad is space based and with only three planet based missions (in a scenario storyline), it still uses revised versions of the Planetary Terrain Engine Spec IV (PTE4) which, while slightly more advanced than the version in UCCE, is still nowhere near the all-new-from-the-ground-up PTE5 used in Talon Elite. Does this even matter? It depends. Anyway, even though sitting on - and not releasing - a multi-million dollar title is enough to make a grown man choke, a final decision has not yet been made. And given the upcoming holidays, I probably won't make any decisions about this until the New Year.
