Latest Mars rover report
Charles Lindsey replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Science, Technology & Health
Opppurtunity to research discarded heat shield quote:Fresh from exploring the remarkable Endurance Crater, the Opportunity rover is now rolling toward the beat up heat shield that's been sitting on Mars for nearly 11 months. Steve Squyres, scientific Principal Investigator for the Mars Exploration Rover effort from Cornell University, said the Opportunity assessment of the heat shield offers a double-bonus. For the scientists, it may be a chance to look at the deepest fresh hole in the ground that we'll ever see on Mars. There's almost a "well duh!" in there. Now they go to look at it. -

Echo and I are both AOL users. If we try to post from AOL we are told we are banned. We can stay signed on to AOL and open IE and post fine. Any thoughts?

I'm sorry it requires a subscription. Perhaps if you go to Time.com and then the science and health section. That's how I got to it to assure it wouldn't require a subscription for you guys but apparently that failed as Time.com can detect i am on AOL -
Universal Combat: After Action Reports (MP):

No one has decsribed the tie breaker yet. Is it possible? I made it to the the region. DennyMala was attacking one of my teammates so I went after DennyMala. DennyMala was so focused on his objective he failed to see me up his tailipes. then Sho, through no action of his own, drifted through the GAULAN gate. No one is in Castrin so I go to give Sho a tow when Ben tells me that is outside the rules. I go back to Castrin and try to take out Marvin but didn't have enough time. -

I'm sure Dreada will appreciate that. I thank you as well. It works and looks decent. However, you may wish to enter a ummm carriage return (?) so that it looks like: ____________________________________________ There is only one true destiny for every commander, to die. System Info ______________________________________________ Then again there is that thing about quotes. Dreada can coach you on that. -

12/19/04 Fleet Play; Match two I remember this the best because I was biting my nails at the very end. We used Operation Shuttle Strike. I got lucky with the flux field. So did Marvin I suppose. I popped out of the NZONE gate 332 clicks from the enemy shuttle. It felt like it would take too long to fly "straight" to the shuttle so I risked a jump away and a jump back. Halfway through my first jump I heard Sho and Eclipse start giving intelligence about Marvin's presence in Gaulan. Actually Sho had popped into Castrin and got a glimpse of Marvin I believe. So now I hear Eclipse has gotten a glimpse of Marvin. I am furiously thinking about how long it would take Marv to arrive to "our" shuttle while biting my nails about my own jumps. Maybe it would have been quicker to fly straight ahead. Angst and doubt fill my mind but I press forward. Did I mention I accidentily hit the windows key? Luckily the game came back. So here I am with about 80% left on the hyperdrive for the final jump towards the enemy shuttle and I'm hearing Sho and Eclipse shouting "He's here, he's here, he just jumped" I arrive safely (cloaked) and start shooting at the shuttle. Darn those shuttle shields regenerate quickly. I have a difficult time destroying the shuttle. It finally comes down to me operating mouse flight with my right hand while using my left hand to hit backspace to cycle through to an appropriate missile. Finally something hit and I killed the enemy shuttle. I typed "killled shuttle" and the match ended. Then we went to a tie breaker..... -
http://www.time.com/time/subscriber/cover/...1006591,00.html I thought this was just cool as all get out. quote:Why We Sleep You may think it's for your body, but it's really for your brain. The latest research is full of surprises By CHRISTINE GORMAN Maybe you have a big report due first thing in the morning. Or you're trying to deliver a truckload of fish before the wholesale market opens 150 miles away. Whatever the reason, you decide to stifle that yawn and push through the night. Sure, you've been awake 16 hours, but you have a giant thermos of coffee and a few tunes to keep you going. Your body, of course, is fighting you every step of the way. Whether or not you realize it, your brain has already started to check out for the night. That yawn was the first sign that you're not so awake as you think. Snipped the rest. It's a 5 page article.

Well, the "register your game" link also provides instructions on how to link to your registration page and include that link in your sig. You get a "few" courtesy posts but after that, if you have failed to provide the required info, things get kinda hairy. -
Night at the movies - Flight Of The Phoenix

I was talking to a friend about it. I described the preview I saw and she said she had seen the original on cable. So I guess it's a remake but darn this new version looks like it would be good! -
Chinese food! YUM!!!! It is cheap as well especially when you can eat two, sometimes three, times off the same purchase. McDonald's Dollar Menu works when I want some comfort food. Double cheeseburger with lots of onions. That isn't often though. If I want to be halfway healthy that dollar McChicken sandwhich is pretty good. Warms your tongue nicely with the spices.

Jumping right in behind someone with an obvious problem with the way things are done around here is not the best way to go. Paraphrase: "This would be twice the bame if it had better graphics" Yeah right. It would be a shadow of the game it is if it had stupendous graphics.

You tried to click on his profile just as it was deleted. The computer beat you to it. Notice he no longer has a profile.

Please try to have some reading comprehnsion. Ajax was banned for equating Derek to God. Not so. But Derek is the god of his own game. Sea Monster and Jack Bauer could really use system information profile links in their sigs.

If you remember the name you can email the mods and get it re-instated. That's what I did. If any of you wish to play with fellow 3000ad people come join the BCC Consortium region.
