I was wrong then. Apologies. People were changing names a lot back then with the way the board got set up. There were several people that registered when they were told not to. Remember that? I registered with the new (this) board but never RE-registered when Derek purged the people who should not have registered. That is why I have "A Long Time Ago" as my register date. Tac has "A Long Time Ago" as well so that is why I thought he was a tad earlier than you. Ughhh. Derek actually does have the lowest member number. But the army swears no so ok I'll believe that part. I know something about fuel as well. My boss buys fuel for the fleet. We have one tanker. A six wheeled job with the little small 1000 gal (2000?) tank attached to the body. It's called a bobtail. There is no such thing as cleaning a tanker. At least not between loads. You run gas and empty the tank then you fill her up with diesel and vice versa. The tiny amount of either left in the tank does not harm the other. You wouldn't want a substantial ratio but cleaning? No. Armor a tanker: I read somewhere they were doing that. But just the cab. While Diesels are powerful I tend to agree with Jag. Armor the whole thing and it couldn't get out of its own way. Rag tag units: That's the gist of the rest of the story. Delapidated (relatively) equipment. Here I believe is the crux of the story. Even civilians call Guardsmen "weekend warriors". They probably felt slighted because the regular army got the good stuff and they got what was left over. They probably did believe it was dangerous equipment. Perhaps rightfully so. Even the army spokesman took it offline for a maintenance review. I'll wait for more along with everyone else.

I was actually listening to a consertative radio show and the fuel was supposedly contaminated. WTF? But supposedly a whole umm platoon (?) refused to do the job. To clarify the above paragraph: I was listening to a conservative radio show and one of the parents had called in with this news. I know no more than that.

Quite poignant. Be sure to add that the son was told to tell the police the bad man had nuclear weapons in his basement and could open his fridge and make everyone sick. Then when he was fully investigated there was nothing there at all.

Ok, this is just rotten. AP and UPI reported that the French Government announced yesterday that it has raised its terror alert level from "run" to "hide". The only 2 higher levels in France are "surrender" and "collaborate". The increased level was precipitated by the recent fire which destroyed one of France's white flag factories, thus disabling much of their military.
