  1. It's real common for power supplies to fry and take the entire computer with them. I've seen it a lot, especially when I used to work at the computer store..
  2. I'll keep it short. Derek, as a member of the "core players" of the BC series, I appreciate you presenting this question to the community and asking for our opinions. With that said, I voted to give it another month. I've learned to trust what you say and I know that with another month of time you can make a good thing great. Thats all from me.
  3. I've seen that work twice SC....no lies.
  4. Damn dude. I'm really sorry to hear that. I know you and I have never really talked one-on-one before but if there is anything you need or what not, send me a PM and I will be more than happy to help you out in any way I possible can....whatever it is you might need.
  5. Make sure your autopilot is off. Make sure if your using any other controllers than a keyboard their throttle is at it's minimum setting.
  6. Amen to that. Welcome to the forums, bud.
  7. Didn't we have this political discussion last week?
  8. Harpoon 4 on life support? Maybe we will get to see it after all... http://www.gamespot.com/pc/sim/larrybondsh...ws_6084753.html
  9. It frustrates me to no end that people complain about video games. I'm sorry, I've been playing video games over half my life now and I am not a violent person. I've NEVER been in a fist fight. I've fired a gun while hunting and target practicing, never other than that. I've never robbed anyone. I've NEVER participated in a maliciously violent activity. I've NEVER seriously hurt someone. DOOM, Wolfenstein, and all the other FPS games from that time period to the present HAVE NOT trained me to be a cold blooded killer. Grand Theft Auto is a prime example of games that DON'T make you a killer. Things happen in that game that could never happen in reality. Ever. Under any circumstances. It's just sad that people really have nothing better to do than sit around and complain. I mean really, does the "Haitian" community in Miami honestly think that because of GTA:VC someone is going to go there and attempt "genocide" I mean really. Ok, I feel better.
  10. Sorry SC. I didn't get these off a website or else I would have posted a link. I follow more or less the same rules as you Silk. I have always been taught to be damned careful. Furthermore, I've seen in person what guns can do to people and I'm not about to let myself do something unsafe and be one of those people. You follow very simple rules, you increase your likelihood of survival ten fold.
  11. Not true. A movie theater and a restaurant are private property. They could check you at the door and confinscate your cell phone/beeper for the time you remained at the establishment and if you didn't like that they could tell you to "piss off." Someone COULD sue. No way they'd win. Furthermore, to completly prevent a lawsuit the establishment would simply need to do what was stated earler....put up a few signs informing everyone of the jammers.
  12. I feel stereotyped against because I'm Italian-Irish and I think I just saw a cop slow down and give my house an extra glance as he drove by..... Rockstar shouldn't have caved...sends the wrong message. I'm getting sick of people pissing and moaning about violence in games. Violence in games doesn't cause violence in reality. Parents who are too busy pissing and moaning about problems with society and not paying attention to their children cause violence.
  13. Silk, since I am the Lord of the Sith in reality, I happen to know how to alleviate one of your gripes. It requires a bit of skill and I recommend you beat the game regularly before you do this. This isn't a cheat, it WILL make your game more difficult to begin with but the benefits are a possible level 19 jedi/level 1 soldier. Assuming this game plays the same on the PC as it does on the XBOX, you start as a level 1 soldier/scout/scoundrel. Go through the Endar Spire and Taris WITHOUT levelling up even when you gain enough experience to. You can actually "save" your levels until you get to Dantooine and become a Jedi and thus dump all those extra levels in Jedi Guardian/Sentinel/Consular. I have a level 19 Jedi Sentinel (Dark Jedi) that is for all intensive purposes unstoppable. I'm talking Force Lightning hits for like 50-60 HPs of damage. It's sick. Hope that works for you and makes the game even better for you. :-)
  14. I'm not sure if these are new or old. But this is the first time I've seen them and some of them are damned funny... The 2003 Darwin Award Winner: When his 38-caliber revolver failed to fire at his intended victim during a holdup in Long Beach, California, would be robber James Elliot did something that can only inspire wonder: He peered down the barrel and tried the trigger again. This time it worked. ================================================= And now, the honorable mentions: The chef at a hotel in Switzerland lost a finger in a meat cutting machine and, after a little hopping round, submitted a claim to his insurance company. The company, suspecting negligence, sent out one of its men to have a look for himself. He tried the machine out and lost a finger. The chef's claim was approved. ================================================= A man who shoveled snow for an hour to clear a space for his car during a blizzard in Chicago returned with his vehicle to find a woman had taken the space. Understandably, he shot her. ================================================= After stopping for drinks at an illegal bar, a Zimbabwean bus driver found that the 20 mental patients he was supposed to be transporting from Harare to Beltway had escaped. Not wanting to admit his incompetence, the driver went to a nearby bus stop and offered everyone waiting there a free ride. He then delivered the passengers to the mental hospital, telling the staff that the patients were very excitable and prone to bizarre fantasies. The deception wasn't discovered for 3 days. ================================================= An American teenager was in the hospital yesterday recovering from serious head wounds received from an oncoming train. When asked how he received the injuries, the lad told police that he was simply trying to see how close he could get his head to a moving train before he was hit. ================================================= A man walked into a Louisiana Circle-K, puts a $20 bill on the counter, and asked for change. When the clerk opened the cash drawer, the man pulled a gun and asked for all the cash in the register, which the clerk promptly provided. The man took the cash from the clerk and fled, leaving the $20 bill on the counter. The total amount of cash he got from the drawer? $15. (If someone points a gun at you and gives you money, was a crime committed?) ================================================= Seems this Arkansas guy wanted some beer pretty badly. He decided that he'd just throw a cinderblock through a liquor store window, grab some booze, and run. So he lifted the cinderblock and heaved it over his head at the window. The cinderblock bounced back and hit the would-be thief on the head, knocking him unconscious. Seems the liquor store window was made of Plexiglas. The whole event was caught on videotape. ================================================= As a female shopper exited a New York convenience store, a man grabbed her purse and ran. The clerk called 911 immediately, and the woman was able to give them a detailed description of the snatcher. Within minutes, the police apprehended the snatcher. They put him in the car and drove back to the store. The thief was then taken out of the car and told to stand there for a positive ID. To which he replied, "Yes, officer, that's her. That's the lady I stole the purse from." ================================================= The Ann Arbor News crime column reported that a man walked into a Burger King in Ypsilanti, Michigan, at 5 a.m., flashed a gun, and demanded cash. The clerk turned him down because he said he couldn't open the cash register without a food order. When the man ordered onion rings, the clerk said they weren't available for breakfast. The man, frustrated, walked away. ================================================= When a man attempted to siphon gasoline from a motor home parked on a Seattle Street, he got much more than he bargained for. Police arrived at the scene to find an ill man curled up next to a motor home near spilled sewage. A police spokesman said that the man admitted to trying to steal gasoline and plugged his siphon hose into the motor home's sewage tank by mistake. The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges, saying that it was the best laugh he'd ever had.
  15. Yep, definetly missed that. I need to change my sig it would seem then. What is my rank and wing assignment now?
  16. *gawks* Tears? Comparisons to 9/11? Oh wow.
  17. Remo, haven't gotten that crash. In fact, I've not gotten any CTDs. If you look on the X2 Forums for tech support you'll get help. You should download the latest beta drivers for your NVIDIA card (if thats what you have). The drivers significantly increased my FPS rate as well as alleviated some stuttering I was encountering.
  18. Tac... My wing isn't listed in the database. Am I fired? :-)
  19. Ok. I've played the game for 3 days and I've gone through all the typcial emotions of a new game. Jaw dropping adrenaline rushes. Head bashing into monitor frustration fits. You know, the usual things. I have to say this at the end of the day. This game rocks. :grins: The movies in the game leave a lot to be desired, but fortunately they aren't many of those. Once you get flying though thye graphics are very very good. You start off with a "scout" type ship and if you pull up next to a "Mammoth" or "Collusus" class vessel you'll probably crap in your pants. You'll fall on the floor and seize up once you realize that eventaully you'll be able to buy one of those bigger ships. I'll admit, I used a hex editor to give myself some cash in one of my games to test some of the bigger features of the game. I.E. The bigger ships, running factories, exc, exc. I bought a "Collosus" class vessel which is a "carrier." When you look at it's stats and it says "Hangar Capacity -- 130", that means you can quite literally hold 130 fighters. I.E. If you have hte cash you can go out and buy 130 fighters and launch or pilot each and every one of them. This game (hides from Derek) deserves a seat right next to the BCM icon (and soon to be UC icon) on my desktop. A word of warning, however. First, the game interface takes some getting used to. It seems very counter intuitive at first but you WILL get used to it, I promise. Second, LEARN THE BLOODY HOTKEYS. This is vital, if you do not, you will not survive. Third, this game, like BC, takes a long time for things to happen. Do not expect to be rolling in money (Unless you cheat) and owning a fleet of ships in 2 days because it really won't happen. I give this game a 9/10 (no 10/10 because of bad movies) and I highly recommend this. SC, did you get your copy yet? I'd honestly like to hear from you about this game...
  20. Don't argue symantecs. It won't get you anywhere. I was making a point of why an online manual would be detrimental. Furthermore, if your going to argue symantecs then your density is much higher than that of seawater. Derek answered the question of the online manual so lets just let this thread die....
  21. Look, if someone copies(Pirates) a game one of the only things that can be viewed as an "upside" is that they will never have a manual. Playing a BC game without reading the manual first is like "walking blindfolded into a minefield with your ex mother-in-law giving you directions"(credit to SC for that line). If Derek put an online manual on the web it would simple enable pirates an easier time at playing the game. Personally, I think what the SC said was very clear and obvious. Don't be dense...
  22. Let me know when the next BF1942 game night is. I'm definetly up for it. My speciality is extreme sniping.
  23. Maybe it 's part of a conspiracy that the Dues Ex designers were in on! :gasps: :grins:
  24. ROFLMAO. Silk, that was funny as hell. I can just picture that. :grins: LOL!
