*cough* Actually I'm in 9th. (twiddles fingers) Standards for ciriculum are different in every state, ya know. My district got pissed at standardized test results a year or two back. (Don't look at me!: ) You can see how pissed they are, by what kinds of programs they've been implementing, it's so annoying.... *ahem*'05!!!! Ebola-style killer virus sweeps Afghan border
Cmdr Nova replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Chatter
Man, I'd say "good for the tabloids", (I hate the tabloids) but this is f*#%!@* anthrax! According to what I've been seeing on NBC, there was a piece of mail that went to the building (like fan mail), that had a powdery substance all over it..... Like a powdery substance that someone could make, so one could inhale a chemical substance (makes it easier to mail)......... Makes you realy think. -
quote:Excerpt from my ICQ Transcripts with Riga: Riga: lol Nova: Riga: like the news anchor part Nova: the one about SC? Nova: or the first part? Nova: Riga: and the way I am quoted **-) Nova: lol Riga: The larry king type part and the text surrounding the second press release Ahhh..... Take this little section: quote: I suppose you remember your ancient history courses? The United States was criticized by other nations, not being seen as it's own soverign state, until it had structure! This should push off to the side, stereotypes that we are all uncivilized savages! My Government and Law class. We're talking about the changes between the Articles of Confederation, and the Constitution, and the arguments about why the Constitution should be ratified. Another prime example of how I blend my Real Life with RP. So I'm not actually high on MedPacks.... (or not that much) quote:Posted by Supreme Cmdr (here): *cough* erm, what happens if I hire someone from Goons For Hire Inc, to take out someone and they fail? Do I get my money back? What? Ideas for "What is BCM's genre" quandary.
Cmdr Nova replied to The Mole's topic in Battlecruiser Series
E.T.S wins! He, we're all gonna be saying, "What's the E.T.A. for that E.T.S. game? I mean, it's in production or in the mail!" -
And I'm getting around to replying to those old messages now! quote:Posted by Cmdr. Jeffery Eu: Thanks for promoting us, Nova, shouldn't you be doing that for Orion? I've been shamelessly promoting Indies and ISS recently, because of their low numbers, and just because I'm a nice guy, Jeffery.

quote:Whoa weird... no one is listed as the last poster in the GD forums... Which means post deleted, either by poster, or by Admin. --- About the Menchise thing. When the first posts of warning came, and SC said that Shirley/Fabio/Jag Uar had an alias here, I had a short-lived pessimistic thought in my head, that one of the active commanders was him. My jaw dropped, even though it's only a suspicion. --- And a question of curiosity: why do they (Shirley/Fab/Jag in particular) call this place the "Taco Palace"? Is there some sort of story behind it? A simple no would do.

quote:If anyone has any thoughts, I'd like to hear them. Shoot on sight? Kidding. He was an extremely helpful part of the community. Funny. Riga said he gave him rights to use his AW account..... Don't know what to say yet. You can't argue with an IP address, though. Still waiting for a complete investigaton.

Changed. Lemme quote good ol' Han Solo on this one: "I've got a bad feeling about this one."

GNN/TIN Press Release, in the RPG Discussion Forum

A pre-emptive you're welcome, from me to you: Riga, Jeffery Eu, and the rest of the Intercorp team. (ahh, I've got lots of time on my hands; no school tomorrow->teacher workshop! Or maybe I've been sniffing too many MedPacks....) [ 10-08-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

(Press releases copied from the Misc. Race/Caste Forum; RP-ing by me ) First off the bat: GNN->Galcom/Galactic (take your choice, it doesn't matter in the following RP) News Network TIN->The Independent Network Let the games begin! (RP) (cheesy news anchor voice) Hello. This is Jimmy Carlson, for GNN, Velari. In a statement given to us, by our media affiliates in the area, we have recieved word of a new Corporation, to cover clients all over the galaxy, using a unique combination of several of the "Undesignated Zone" markets. Here's the report: PRESS RELEASE In a short statement an Intercorp official stated that, as of yesterday 14:23, the corporation has three directors. The founding directors, according to the spokesman, found that the corporation needed additional support in a number of areas and were glad to have found it in this person. However, for the time being the identity of the third director remains classified due to the nature and history of the persons involved. The newly formed alliance will now direct their attention to the new opportunities and will become active in these fields shortly. The spokesman refused to go into further details and did not answer any questions. The memberlist release by Intercorp reads Jeffery Eu (director Guns For Hire Inc.) Outlaw (Guns for Hire Inc.) Jiguko San (Guns for Hire Inc.) Baloogan (HR Division) Director 3 (Division D, B Branch) Riga (Commodity Inc.) They are still looking for new members, but stress that it's business as usual for non members as well. END PRESS RELEASE (cheesy anchor voice continues) In an astounding turn of events, investments in "Undesignated Zone" services have nearly tripled and...(cheesy anchor voice gets cut off) zzzzzzBuzzzzzzzz (Changes the Channel) zzzzzzBuzzzzzzzz TIN-The Independent Network. (Larry King-type guy) "We're back. Now on with our interview with Commercial commander, Craig Adams. A worty businessman, but an Indie supporter, he is criticized by Galcom for sympathizing for Raiders and other "lower castes"." "The press release from Intercorp Unlimited marks a huge step in our (the Indies), rights and ability to be heard. Without a structured system, we look like fools, and are cast-out from society. I tell you, we are more organized than some of those supposedly powerful fleets are, my good man! I suppose you remember your ancient history courses? The United States was criticized by other nations, not being seen as it's own soverign state, until it had structure! This should push off to the side, stereotypes that we are all uncivilized savages! I say, though, that we sill will keep our neutral stance against the Insurgency and Galcom, but this should show them that we are still people on the inside---"(gets cut off) (news anchor) We have a special report from our Pixan news center. In reaction to the first Press Release from Intercorp, the Supreme Commander of Galcom (who knew about the formation of this corportation from Day One, casting it aside as a useless and short-lived call to organization), had these few words to say: "You guys must be pretty darn serious. " (source of quote) In reaction to that message, an unnamed ranking official, believed to be a co-founder of Intercorp had this to say: quote:LOL, this calls for another press release PRESS RELEASE (mumble, mumble)not Six guys on the dole recently decided to band together and formed a corporation. The corporation was funded by selling bubblegum to underaged teanagers with a personality disorder. Local authorities were petitioned in order to get them recognized but failed since the building progress of their virtual world was not yet fully completed. Stubbornly they insisted and managed to write a six page letter of intent to the local deity, an entity purely made of energy. Confident in the future they continue their efforts. END PRESS RELEASE (mumble, mumble)not *evil grin* Obviously, spirits are high for Intercorp and it's leaders. We'll have more coming soon as it comes out. This is Katy Brunett, TIN, over and out. (/RP) The Indie movement is in full swing. Even SC is starting to notice! Hehehe.... bwwahahahahahahah!!!! *ahem* It has begun! [ 10-08-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

First of all, the Intel 810 chipset uses up to 11 MB of system RAM. (have an 810) quote:Why don't you try the demo and see it for yourself? I have an 810. (Like I said.) I tried it (don't hurt me, I knew what I was getting myself into). I can answer that one for you. Ick. Ultra-low framerates, like less than 3 FPS, and freezes every 10-15 seconds for a bit..... RTF-Troubleshooting FAQ. It explicitly says: quote:If you have an Intel i810 video board : Get rid of it....and any other cheapo on-board graphics chip found on motherboards. They are NOT supported!! Get yourself an actual graphics card. I don't care if it's a cheap 16 MB card, at least you'll be able to at least get a good 15 FPS+, which is good enough to play on. I hope I'll be seeing you in multiplayer. [ 10-08-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

quote:BTW - structure is good, but for now, with reduced numbers, I have something simpler in mind. Will post that here. I'll note that in my Newbie page. So far, it looks like it's surpassing the Fleet FAQ by so much! Come check it out! (I'm fulfilling my role oas Newbie Welcome Wagon, before getting down to the grueling RP stuff.... So ya know. ) (EDIT: I updated the link to my site's top page. Going over major revisions with my site. I'm not one to leave links like that open and 404ed.) Hmm... Blades can get some hosting space off of the server he operates (he's sys-admin). He's given some Orion Fleet folks subdomains (like my RP site), and the server's fast. See www.orionfleet.com , or my site www.rp.orionfleet.com to see how fast! It's in the UK, but it's a great/fast server, anywhere! (at least it seems fast where I live.) I'm not sure if ASP is working. (Although Blades said it should, I don't know how, don't have enough time to learn right now.) Here's his quote on the server (when I asked about the OS and config on the server): quote:posted 09-01-2001 08:02 Nova, it's an NT server running IIS4 with the usual trimmings. CDONTS isnt working right (Im not sure why, even though it's my job to know why) but ASP, SQL and usual FP Extensions are. However, the current set up doesnt allow for the sub domains to publish via Front Page - so dont even try it. posted 09-08-2001 08:52 I've corrected a slight oversight and enabled full use of FP extensions on all orionfleet.com sub domains. So, if you guys wanna go the FP2000 way, you can no do so. If you ask nicely, he could get you a spot on the server, and a username for FTP Access, and possibly (cross yer fingers) a domain name or sub-domain name..... Guess you're gonna owe Orion a bit more favors. quote:SIX pages?!? You guys must be pretty darn serious. Darn-Tootin'! This is (IIRC), the biggest Indie thread, ever, and probably the closest plan ever to hit the E-Mail box of Tacops.

quote:2nd. Some time ago people posted their ages and the average age came out to be around 27 to 30 I believe. So the majority of the fanbase is not young but I believe could be more organized. Heh. Try telling that to Fleet Commander Tac (he's 21, according to his ICQ profile). Or me. (I'm 14.) And these Orion commanders.... Ent1ty, those three reasons were just plain foolish. I've seen Shirly say stuff that had more relevance and ground! Ent1ty, don't worry about getting banned. Just don't re-register once the Reg wipe happens. At least SC doesn't have to take his time out to do so. (Sheesh. There's always gonna be detractors. Guess I have my work cut out for me. )

Desylva is really busy right now. Don't blame him if he pops in, then leaves all of a sudden. (You know, he's restructuring ISS fleet, and all.) Give him a bit more time.

Yep. SC has worked his ass off to get us the best.

Lets see.... I don't get a set allowance. I'm only 14, and can't work. I have $20 US, and $20 Canadian (from way back in July when I was on vacation), in my wallet..... It gets worse.... Don't test me. That's whats goin' on here. [ 10-07-2001: Message edited by: Cmdr Nova ]

You don't. I think you might be thinking of the possiblity of the 3rd demo's missions. Or you're considering the little group of three or four ships that comes and attacks the station in the (1st?) mission. No editor yet. In BCM, you'll be able to use GBS-II (the new BCM version of the Game Builder System), where you can script missions and campaigns.

"When One Million died in Iraq, no one cared...... When a few Americans died, it became a world-wide event." - In regard to the embassy bombing a while back. "Now the United States know the terror we have been tasting for many years." He called the U.S. hypocrits, and we're startinga wave of terror against Islam. "All Muslims must join together, to defend Allah's religion from the sinners." He is dead. (All those quotes are from the top of my head. Sorry if they're a bit incorrect.) And a small earthquake rocked Los Angeles just minutes after the attacks started. (they said it on NBC news) -Imagine watching the news about an attack on the Al-Qaeda, and then feeling the ground tremble before you. Must've freaked out tons of peeps.

I use ICQ and AIM. AIM because I'm an AOL member, and most of my family uses AIM, AOL, or Compuserve.

quote:1) A commander might have a conflict of interest; You can't have 2 AEs that conflict in interest. (Just like the quote from SC) quote:Saying that, Nova, I would most welcome you to be at least a Orion fleet lialison officer to Intercorp or vice versa, think of yourself more as ambassador or commercial. I'm still wondering if Blades is planning to activate his plans for our Indie connections. I'll wait before he gets back, though. Riga (and possibly Blades) need someone to run the Orion Starstation offices of Intercorp. I might make another AE, if needed. It'll all work out, eventually.

Updated my New Recruits page (part of the "Newbie Welcome Wagon Package"), with fleet and organization info. I've got Intercorp listed, still no information written down yet. Fleet folks, please verify this info. If something's wrong, please contact me.
