  1. Eclipse. The original BC3K CD-ROM and the freeware, use different installers. In the freeware release, I deliberately disabled WIN2K installation. I think there is a commandline override, but am not sure. I will check with Installshield about that.
  2. The Battlecruiser cannot dock with a planetary base. Only the IC/SC/ATV can. The planetary base can be detected in Tacscan ground radar. It has to be visible in the CVD camera mode, before the docking can occur.
  3. quote: And to Derek: (if you read this. a big THANK YOU for this game! I loved Elite and Frontier but they weren't alive like this game. So now me and my friends gather every weekend to play BC3K together, and its great fun! Albeit no multiplayer function its still the most played game at our LAN's. You're welcome. MP is coming....soon
  4. I have a very unique perspective as to how death is handled in GCO. I have no plans to reveal them until the game goes into Beta testing, early next year.
  5. ROTFL!!! You guys are insane
  6. If the game crashes, the files could be corrupt. doh!
  7. quote: if he goes out and gets hit by a truck, IT'S OVER!!!! LOL!! so true but no, seriously, thats a scary thought though, ain't it?
  8. Sure. Just make sure you post the pre-requisite copyright info you see posted on other user BC sites.
  9. Not only is it garbage, it doesn't even offer 5% of what BCM has, let alone GCO. I won't worry about them if I were you. We don't MANY have tried (e.g. Terminus), but NONE have succeeded in coming even close.
  10. Don't have a clue what that error means. You may want to check out www.installshield.com. It could probably be insufficient disk space or a corrupted download.
  11. uhm, I think I mentioned in my latest dev diary that I was writing a book?
  12. Fair enough. No further comments are necessary.
  13. If the game is corrupt, you won't be able to load it.
  14. quote: But anyway, I had a couple ideas while playing Demo Ep. 2(for the 5 millionth time ). One was, what about manual control of beam weapon turrets, like how you could control the PTA turrets in BC3K? This was removed in BCM and will not be suported quote: The other was, what if you accidentaly activated your hyperdrive, but you selected the wrong FP target and you need to stop? I think there should be some kind of emergency hyperspace brake(or something similar), which either does damage to the engine or costs more Radine. No. And stop posting wishlist items as NOTHING in the game will change, in this regard. quote: Oh yeah, and on a side note, my game crashed whenever I enter the Madride space zone, I get a strange error which reads,"Invalid Ptype15/Madride". Do I need to reinstall the game? Only in the E1 demo I think. If you get the E2 demo and apply the bonus mission for it, the problem will go away because I included the files for that region in the bonus mission.
  15. ROTFLMAO!!! http://www.bigempire.com/filthy/
  16. quote: I have read a number of posts on these forums, and know you do not like people such as me. If you mean people who do NOT read instructions, yes, you're right quote: I AM running the installer-EXE from my D-drive, yet it puts all the temporary files plus 150 megs of non-temporary files on drive C despite my desire for it to put them on D-drive. It has NOTHING to do with the installer. If your TEMP= variable is set to your C:TEMP or C:WINDOWSTEMP, thats where it, and ALL programs, will store temporary files. quote: (yes, this includes the dialogue box I get asking for the directory in which the game should be installed. On the LAST screen where it displays the folder where its going to install the program, there is a CHANGE button. If you click on it, you will be allowed to change this default. quote: Now, I am a Linux guy, and not very familiar with micro$oft's perversions, so there may be some options I am missing, but my search through directories, help files, and even the registry have uncovered no way to change these. NOW he tells us....
  17. hehe, without a release date, there won't be any pre-orders. Pre-orders are good. So, go pre-order. And make no mistake about it, we already know that the pre-orders will eclipse the first production run. And since I get paid every 30-days, I won't be mastering any new units until EB actually pays. Why am I telling you this? Well, if you don't pre-order, you will NOT be able to get the game when it comes out. Period. You'd have to *gasp*, wait until the next production run. So, don't be surprised when you get back ordered, if you wait until the last minute. I'm not in the financial position to manufacture humongous numbers. You've been warned.
  18. Of course not. Read the GCO FAQ
  19. I will probably put in some sort of news bulletin in some later BCM patch for single/multi player. As for GCO, journalists (NPCs or humans) will play a big role in how news is handled in the game. It will be killer.
  20. Hundreds of thousands of lines of code. And am too busy to delve into the inner workings of my several AI engines. Wait for my book [ 07-31-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
  21. ah, Morrowwind, the mere name sends shivers up my spine. I swear if they f!ck it up.....
  22. uhm, just go rent all five of the previous movies, and you'll know what will be in any upcoming sequel to this rubbish.
  23. Its possible to run BC3K under WIN2K using a combo of these resources. I haven't tried any, so don't ask me for a template on how to do it. If someone succeeds, I'd like to know about it You need to fool the installer into thinking that its running under WIN98. To do that, you need to read this. Once installed.... You need to either run it from inside a shell like VMware or Run it as a normal DOS app under WIN2K and use VDM Sound to emulate a sound driver if you want sound to work. Run the Sound Setup program once you've got VDM sound running OK. You can also install WIN98 or WINME in a dual boot system. This comes handy if you have other legacy games which won't run under WIN2K. For resources on setting up a dual boot environment, check the resource links on our site.
  24. The HSD is an artifact. Most artifacts are enabled, by default, in debug mode.
