Yeah. use the transporter, if you don't know how to use waypoints to deploy troops/vehicles. Have you actually tried deploying/collecting a mining drone? Thats where you ought to start I think. And I said in my other thread: try using 2 waypoints instead of one. With the #1 waypoint being 'proceed to next' and #2 waypoint being the desired order, e.g. 'deploy team' make sure the waypoints are not below the ground and not at a high altitude (5000'??!?! yikes)

File Planet guys just sent me this, we're #1!!!!!!!! -
There is discussion going on over at VE. Quite humorous actually. quote: This may be nit-picking, but the trees look a little odd in some shots; leaf patterns etc, can't quite put my finger on it. Its the blending I think. Am gonna have Peter redo those textures so that they blend better with the engine rendering. quote: Just curious, will vehicles and characters leave tracks in the snow/sand? That was the plan...until I removed it from the task list. Maybe in a future patch update.

quote: you mean the remote command doesn┬┤t really work ? ok, i will stop trying to make it work then uhm, what remote command? quote: A curious thing happened when I was playing the free 2.09 BC3k that the SC recently released. After reading the manual, I played the game, and something hit me: I could use the HSD, the ENM was active, I could use the PAD, and I even had Fleet C&C. I answered this in another thread I think. The /d1 flag in the .BAT files, enables debug mode in the game. This not only gives you some of those artifacts and features, it also bypasses the CD-ROM check. You will find that if you remove this flag, the game will prompt you for the CD-ROM...which you don't have.

quote: er.. *timidly* does that no-new-thread-directive apply also to the new legacy forum ? hehe, no. Thats why I revised the forum. Just don't: Create duplicate threads or those containing already covered topics. When in doubt, search the site or display ALL THREADS Don't ask questions that are already detailed in the manual or FAQ quote: sorry for taking the liberty to be so direct... i certainly don┬┤t mean to question your decisions. Nah, your post was fine. I just can't be bothered to respond to all of it, due to the fact that the answers are, in fact, apparent. [ 07-24-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] -

BC3000AD HELP!!!!!
Supreme Cmdr replied to Pedro Pablo Laracuente's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
BC3K is a DOS game, so, thats probably the problem. However, if it detects it and you use /v59, then there could be something wrong with its VESA mode or the detection. Try /v1 and see what happens. Also, are you SURE you installed it correctly, path etc? Did you run the Sound Setup program, tested it etc? Even if you can't run the sounds, you HAVE to configure it and select NO for both sound options, then save the config file. How about joystick? Do you have one connected? Did you try unplugging it temporarily? -
Wanna see something truly shocking? Stare at these. They are shots from a forest on one planet. In GBS-II, you can create any kind of scenario. All it takes to create an FP scenario is a single line script command. If you want to give the player a vehicle, then its another. Here is a script excerpt for one of the IA scenarios, with comments. This puts the player at one of the spawn points (/WP tag) within the FARSTAR02.3DG base object (see LBASES.INI). Since he has an ATV, he can get out in FP, using ALT+E. If you don't want him to have a vehicle, just remove or comment out that line, and he will be in FP mode, without a vehicle. code: # # SYSTEM SCRIPT - INSTANT ACTION SCENARIO # [dynamic] #include xc_dyn.scr # [ai] #include xc_ag.scr #include xc_ai.scr # .satcommand,100,100,100,100,100,100,1 start orbit xc1z^xcj1,500000,500,90,0 stop events !startup cloak on this invincible on this weapons off this autogen off !init_player set_race terran set_caste military set_career elite_force_marine set_craft atv set_region farstar,farstar02 !resolvel1 broadcast "Scenario Completed" acm_off quit endevents # [acm] RACE : TERRAN CASTE : MILITARY CAREER : ELITE FORCE MARINE CRAFT : ATV REGION : FARSTAR PLANET REGION . INTEL REPORTS THAT THE INSURGENTS NOW HAVE TWO FUNCTIONAL STARLIGHT SURFACE TO ORBIT SILOS AT A BASE ON FARSTAR. YOU HAVE BEEN INSERTED DEEP BEHIND ENEMY LINES. . YOU ARE ORDERED TO INVESTIGATE AND SCOUT THE AREA FOR HOSTILES AND SEE IF YOU CAN LOCATE THESE STARLIGHT SILOS AND DESTROY THEM. . THIS SCENARIO WILL TERMINATE AFTER 120 MINUTES, REGARDLESS OF VICTORY CONDITIONS. . :1,xc1z,setupl1,beginl1,resolvel1,level1tick,1,120,1 # As you can see from above, you could simply start the player inside a hostile base, instead of a friendly one. If you put him in a friendly one, he can easily use an IDP pad to go to an enemy base. If you wanted to create hostile marines, assuming you don't want the hostile base to create its own when it detects you and your team, you would just script them as normal. And just like ships, you can script FP marines (or any kind of character) in the same fashion. The engine doesn't care if the entity is a craft, character or cargo pod. It knows how to handle each one. e.g of a FP combat strike team code: [dynamic] terran military,,f1,elite_force_marinea.3d,gonzalez terran military,,f2,elite_force_marinea.3d,mongoose terran military,,f3,mobile_infantry_marinea.3d,chavez terran military,,f4,mobile_infantry_marinea.3d,spunkmier [ai] # .f1,100,100,100,100,100,100,0 start inactive on_planet farstar farstar02 151 50 0 0 stop events 1 !setupl1 activate this escort player on !startup signal chat1,5 !detect, player broadcast_action "looking in your general direction" broadcast "So, whats the plan?" !chat1 broadcast_action "looking at mongoose" broadcast "Who has the grenades?" !chat3 broadcast "uhm, WHAT?!? no grenades? Who wrote this script?!?" signal chat4,1 endevents # .f2,100,100,100,100,100,100,0 start inactive on_planet farstar farstar02 151 52 0 0 stop events 1 !setupl1 activate this escort player on !chat1 broadcast "I don't. Ask Chavez" signal chat2,1 signal chat3,2 !chat4 broadcast "Derek did. That jackass" broadcast_action "arming ZS10" endevents # .f3,100,100,100,100,100,100,0 start inactive on_planet farstar farstar02 151 53 0 0 stop events 1 !setupl1 activate this escort player on !chat2 broadcast "I don't have them" !chat3 broadcast "heh" broadcast_action "looking around" !detect player broadcast "here he comes now" broadcast_action "looking in your general direction" endevents # .f4,100,100,100,100,100,100,0 start inactive on_planet farstar farstar02 151 53 0 0 stop events 1 !setupl1 activate this escort player on !chat3 broadcast "I don't have them either. I got gum though!" !chat4 broadcast_action "rummaging pockets" broadcast "nope, don't got 'em fer sure" endevents # [event] !chat1 !chat2 !chat3 !chat4 $ So, creating a counter strike type mod for single or multiplayer, is so trivial, its kinda ridiculous, really. In the above example, you can also give them specific scripted orders, or just let their internal AI take over when they detect a target. I will be adding fleet C&C to all careers (not just commander), so that you can order troops and other fighters, even if you are playing one of the marine or pilot careers. This will give direct access to the orders for the team above (e.g. attack, strike etc). And since they are just entities, you can set waypoints+orders for them as well, as normal. Before you ask, , that broadcast_action is there so that you can add some more immersion to your script. The AI will automatically support this directly, so that when, e.g. gonzalez looks at you, the action will be broadcasted to you, without you having to script it. I will add this post-BCM release, as well as the other high-end GBS-II orders, which I have yet to document (*sigh*) So, with that team above, you can all start off in a friendly base, hop on an IDP pad, emerge in the enemy base, and flatten it. Or, you can just start right in there, amidst a hail of gun fire. Cool stuff, aye?

Blackwell, wtf do you think you're doing, creating duplicate threads? Well, I've deleted it. You SHOULD know better.

quote: when i order the deployed shuttle through the BC menu to deploy its ATV, it will ignore my order. in order to get the job done i HAVE to switch to the shuttle and do it manually. now in a combat situation, with 4 ATVs having to be deployed, that┬┤s quite a tedious job is there a way to make the shuttle actually obey my orders ? Make sure that the waypoint is not below the ground. Also, try using two waypoints. #1 would be 'proceed to next' and a little distant from #2. Then place #2 with the deploy order, at the desired location. By the shuttle intercepts waypoint #1, it will be at low altitude and low speed, en-route to #2. It should carry out the order if the waypoint is not below the ground. quote: btw: ordering the deployed ATV to RTB has no effect either. i have to do that manually as well. It can only RTB to the shuttle that deployed it, if it is in range.

Battlecruiser 3000AD v2.09 FREE
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
Just thought I'd add this here.... Most of you newbies didn't buy frigging game back in 1998-99. Now its out for free and you want what? Support? LOL!!! OK. Its like this, a demo, freeware and in fact, ALL legacy BC products (includes BC3K v1.0x and BC3K v2.0x) are : NOT SUPPORTED As such, don't think that ANYONE here owes you anything; nor that you have carte blanche to create a bunch of threads on my board. I have instructed moderators to outright BAN anyone who creates another thread related to ANY legacy product, in this, or any forum. The result is that, whether you buy BCM or not, you will NOT be able to post on this site again. Ever. And just so you know, bans are irreversible. Once you are banned, you are banned FOR LIFE. The BC legacy related threads that are already here, can remain as is. So, read them, post in them etc, but don't expect ANYTHING from ANYONE here. ALL the people you newbies find here, own the games - thats why they are here. They will help, IF they want to. Don't frigging keep creating new threads. Use the ones that are already here. The 15K or so (almost 8.5K over at File Planet alone, as of this writing) who didn't buy the game when it was available for sale worldwide, but downloaded the free version, had better learn how to play BC3K and go out and actually buy BCM, otherwise, its the last time I release ANY of my games for free on the Internet again. And since you need to register in order to post, once BCM is out, I'll know if you own it or not. Yes, I'm p*sssed That is all -
There are NO cheats installed in that v2.09 freeware release. NONE If some of you actually spent time actually READING the provided docs, you'd spam the site less. The /d1 flag in the .BAT files, is there to suppress the CD-ROM check (you have to have some kind of CD-ROM in the drive, however), write debug info the log file, display AI info in the external camera view etc. It doesn't prevent anyone from firing on you etc And you CANNOT run the game without it, unless of course, you can find a way to hack the CD-ROM check (good luck, you're gonna need it) from the executables and then remove this param from the .BAT files. ALL the cheats are in the GBS folder, complete with instructions on how to use them. Finally, the Tacscan modes are craft specific. RTFM

BC3000AD HELP!!!!!
Supreme Cmdr replied to Pedro Pablo Laracuente's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
He can't do that from the commandline. The command needs to be entered in the BC3K.BAT file (executed by the BC3K shortcut) on the line which already contains the other options. [ 07-23-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ] -
OK, so WHAT would you give for a new mission for the E2 demo? And what kind of mission would you like to see? Be inventive

Damn, I remember that mall. Is that pretzels stall (forgotten the name now) still there? heh, I must've been stopped about ten times driving down from Latrobe to that mall.

Asus boards are the best. I have four of them here. And I am running an Athlon 1Ghz on a CUV4X-E mobo (without the onboard audio/video) with no problems. If you do go with this board, just make sure that you do the following Use CAS2 memory Download the ATA100 drivers for that IBM (I have two of those drivers too) Download the VIA All-In-One drivers Install the OS from scratch, using a Boot Disk install Apply the ATA100 and the VIA drivers before installing ANYTHING else!!! For me, what I normally do is create a folder tree as follows (after partioning the drive, of course). You would have to create a boot disk from your current OS, to boot from. C:DRIVERS .bios .video .ata100 .via .dvd .joystick .monitor .sound .mouse .network .scanner .webcam etc I also have them on a CD-ROM. This way, even if you don't have access to your CD-ROM with the new OS, or just for upgrading purposes, ALL drivers for EVERY device, are within easy reach. Once I have the OS up and running, I ghost it (i.e do a drive image backup). You can use Norton Ghost, Drive Image etc Only THEN do you start adding crap (read : softare) [ 07-23-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]

Battlecruiser 3000AD v2.09 FREE
Supreme Cmdr replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
...wait till I catch those 6796+ people who downloaded BC3K for free instead of actually buying it, back in 1998 But guess what? I got even. I have a Order BCM Online shortcut, right next to the BC3K icon which runs the game. No way they'd miss that. hehe -
You are definitely going to have to update that map for BCM because it now supports multiple starbases and starstations in the same region/planet. While I don't plan on adding any more stations (except if multiplayer requires it), there will be about 75 or more launch bases (starbases, carriers etc), in BCM (BC3K only had 25)

quote: My point was that any 'trigger' for hitting the water surface, and making the object start sinking, didn't work on a towed naval ship, when it touched water, so it ended up continuing to be towed underwater, while the shuttle towing it was disabled and sank, like it was supposed to. Trigger? What trigger? This is similar to your other post in the dev forum, for which I am still awaiting verification. There is no trigger Whats happening is as I explained, I didn't add a flag to prevent it from being towed. Period. Anyone with access to GBS, knows what the heck I'm talking about. Since most of you don't, WHY are even discussing this - even AFTER I already explained it? As for it dropping to the ground under gravity. Again, the naval crafts do not have the flag which indicates that they are affected by gravity. If they did, when towed, they'd drop to the surface. And you get one guess as to why that flag wasn't added, either. OK To prevent the pre-requisitite foolish guesses, the answer is that : if it cannot be towed, then you can't move it - if you can't move it, you can't drop it. If you can't tow it, to move it, then to drop it....it doesn't need the gravity flag. Hopefully this ends THAT discussion As for the shuttle. Its buoyancy has nothing to do with the object its towing. [ 07-23-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
