  1. Actually, there's nothing strange about it. Take2 just recently got the US rights, so, they 'Gone Gold' means that it has gone into production, here in the US.
  2. I didn't change the universe in BCM. I only (a) removed the moon region ( moved the moon and Genesis into Earth region © relocated some of the fleet stations. You can track the changes by running Beyond Compare against the STATICS.SCR file from the BC3K and BCM GBS (latest version) The IA/TA worlds are in a different galaxy (look at the bottom of the STATICS.SCR file) which you can put on its own map, if you so desire.
  3. The only thing that X and BCM have in common, is the space sim genre.
  4. See? Another newbie, and a polite one at that. Even though the demo and free versions are NOT supported, don't you just want to help this guy?? I sure as hell do (unlike those two other idiots I just banned) Anyway, you may be in nullspace. Just target the single jump point in there, and fly out.
  5. I am going to leave your post intact (because it makes YOU look like the idiot) and BAN you, all in one shot. First of all, there is NO Win support for BC3K. Period. WHAT you are talking about is the UNSUPPORTED WIN32 version which is (a) NOT INSTALLED ( and ONLY exists in a ZIP file with a USE AT YOUR OWN RISK WARNING inside said zip file. When you run the Installshield program, it installs the version which is ONLY supported under WIN95, WIN98 and WINME, with NOTHING about WIN2K support - which is WHY the installer will NOT install under WINNT, WIN2K, Linux, BeOS, Atari, Mac, Commodore, your dishwasher or your lunch bowl. I DISABLED IT. Here is just another display or obtuse ignorance: Blue's News which amounts to the same thing. You only get to that ZIPPED WIN32 (INCOMPLETE btw) WIP version, AFTER you have installed the game. And they are ONLY executables and *NO* data files. Guess what that means? Yep, it sure means that you MUST install the regular version first, then uninstall and run these EXEs separately - AT YOUR OWN UNSUPPORTED RISK Only a COMPLETE IDIOT would miss these warnings, especially since they have been that way since, oh, what, 1998?? Goodbye and thanks for making an even bigger ass of yourself, again. Yes, I know you registered twice - since I suppressed your posting rights before - but, I've taken care of that. 6. It just figures, doesn't it? People DON'T read instructions. They DON'T heed warnings. THEN they come crying for help. OK, one LAST time: DEMOS AND THE FREE VERSION OF BC3K ARE UNSUPPORTED - ESPECIALLY IF YOU DON'T **READ** THE FRIGGING DOCS!! The free version does NOT need a CD-ROM. If its asking for one, its because it CANNOT find the path in the INI file....and thats usually because its more than 8 characters. And if you go manually tinkering with the INI file, you won't be able to uninstall it from Control Panel either. It is always a good idea to always have a CD-ROM in your drive (any kind), in case the copy protection kicks in at some point during the game.
  7. hey, I just checked out that flux fields map for the first time - pretty cool!! Pugwash, I've sent you scrollit via email, also added your site to the main links page. btw, I use a console program called Take Command/32 from JP Soft and it has a scrollable history window which also captures screen output depending on the configured buffer. This makes Scrollit obsolete. Its trialware. Highly recommended. Don't forget to configure your console programs (e.g. prepare.exe, playmod.exe etc) as Caveman apps.
  8. The The Underdogs link is now up. Pretty good writeup there too. Check it out
  9. Rubbish. The excerpt about what it supports is RIGHT THERE on the File Planet downloads page. You don't have to extract ANYTHING to read it. And that nonsense about it not being clear that WIN2K wasn't supported is just that, nonsense. Its gamers like you who go out, buy a game, stare at the requirements, and still take the game home, knowing fully well that it won't run on your MK1 POS. The result, a game returned due to someone else's foolishness. Further, when BC3K was released back in 1998, WIN2K wasn't even OUT. That pretty much buries your argument right there. Now, create another thread about what amounts to your own FAILURE to read docs, and you're getting banned from the site. And I don't care if you've been waiting for BCM since I thought up the idea of actually developing it. If you can't read SIMPLE docs, you can't play *any* BC related game. Period.
  10. quote: Don't those people have better things to do?? No, they don't. You'd be surprised to what lengths they'd go. I've seen it all - trust me on this.
  11. I gues you're one of those whose strongs points is NOT to read documentation, right? Which part of this entry, RIGHT THERE on the FilePlanet downloads page, was unclear? quote: BC3K v2.09 will work on WIN95, WIN98 and in fact, WINME (your mileage may vary) Further, if you had actually looked at the BC3K product page, also linked from File Planet, you would have seen the requirements. I DELIBERATELY disabled the Installer script from working under WINNT, WIN2K and WINXP, for this same reason. I hope you wasted 8hrs downloading it, that should teach you a lesson you're not likely to forget in a hurry.
  12. ....don't look now, but we're #1 at File Planet again, and the E2 demo is steady at #8
  13. That animation is unused and will be deleted at some point. The hyperjump animation is now done with real-time effects.
  14. Yeah, and?
  15. ...and why is that a glitch? Who said that you couldn't do it? The shuttle is designed to float (have you actually read the VCF?). Just because I didn't add a flag to prevent the towing of naval objects, doesn't mean you can't do it. sheesh
  16. quote: Have you tried the scripts that Pugwash and Gallion done? uhm, nope. They didn't send them to me
  17. You need to install the DOS sound drivers for your card. This is explained in the FAQ. You may want to read it.
  18. btw, in the future, all such topics belong in here, not in the New Commanders forum.
  19. To do a complete B5 mod using the GBS-II tool included in BCM, would be a piece of cake....you'd just have to wait for me to actually do the documentation I would suggest that you guys start getting together and creating the assets. By that I mean the models. For that you need 3DS Max 2.x or 3.x. I have uploaded the latest version of the BCStudio tool to the BCM downloads page. It requires an installed copy of the E2 demo or current BCM Beta. Simply unzip it into the folder where you have it installed and check the DOCS folder for the modeling/export guidelines. The MODELSSOURCE folder contains the source of some models in BCM and MODELSPLUGINS contains the plugings for both Max versions. If you can create a Max model, export it to my .3D format, then load it in BCS and view it OK, then you've covered 25% of the hurdle. BCS uses the same format and rendering kernel as BCM - so, whatever it looks like in BCS, is exactly what it will look like in BCM. If you guys want me to do an exporter for other modelers, e.g. Milkshape, Truespace etc, you're SOL. If anyone else wants to tackle it, let me know and I will provide the 3D file format specs. To get B5 (or any space game into BCM), here are the steps. Design the models and export them to .3D format Put in the AI control vectors required by the engine (to see what I mean, load the BCRUZMK3 model in BCS, then turn on Model/Tags/Primitives). Design the world (on paper) and put in the entries in the required script files (e.g. STATICS.SCR). This is optional, since you could very well just use the existing BCM world. e.g. the world used in IA/TA are completely different and separate from the regular game world....and took me about an hour to design and script. Enter any new models being introduced into the world, in the required script files (e.g. OBJECTS.SCR) Create a ROAM scenario (this is basically a script template which has NO missions, as the AI will simple do what it needs to do). Later, you can create IA scenarios, ACM etc Parse the whole mess and copy the resulting files to the relevant folders Glue hair back on (assuming you've run out of staples) Run BCM as normal, and say hello to your mod. Yes, doing this in BCM is a LOT simpler than it ever was in BC3K. No, I am not going to release GBS-II to the public, until BCM is released. Only the Beta testers have access to it.
  20. quote: One thing kinda drew my attention while flying around in a shuttle on Farstar: It's kinda weird to watch the cloud layer rise and fall depending on the AGL of the terrain immediately below you. While I'm sure that this is simply a side-effect of having the AGL accessible at all, rather than having everything based off of MSL, it was just a funny effect. (A minor quibble which does nothing to detract from gameplay or the otherwise beautiful visuals.) Besides, realistically not all clouds fly at one altitude, but then again clouds usually do not change altitude in unison. LOL!! You noticed huh? I did this because the terrain altitude varies at certain points and it would breach the cloud layer at certain parts, ruining some of the effect. ...anyway, what are you doing staring at the clouds?
  21. The File Planet link is up and being pounded.
  22. ...oops, took a wrong turn at the coffer machine...carry on folks. fwiw, I like the Warmonger myself
  23. .....assuming he has the MapPak installed
