Well EBgames.com changed by pre-order ship date to 1/14. Don't they get these dates from the publishers? I'm hoping this is an indication that DC does not intend to ship RC1.

Game programming doesn't involve dealing with publishers unless you are in the unique situation that the SC is in. He owns his own IP (intellectual property) and his own development company that supports it. Thus he needs to be involved in the business end of things. If you enjoy game programming, go for it! The business side shouldn't deter you.

WOW. Thanks for the insight. So the holiday season is missed. It sounds like the retail order mentioned is lost. Those 2 deals are sunk. Given that, why the rush to replicate now? Sounds like there is more than we know. Like perhaps that "retail order" is tiered, i.e. it gets worse (reduced furthur?) if its not fulfilled at some other future date (in lieu of missing the holiday). Good luck in whatever you do SC. We as fans can only do what we do best. Game on when its eventually released!

I've watched the EBs and Gamestops in my area shrink their PC shelf space little by little to make room for... even more console used games! How many used copies of EA's console sports retreads do they need on the shelf for gods sakes. The profit margins on used games must be ridiculous. These stores are turning into the old Funcolands.

I'll say what I think most are saying here. Personally, I'd love to have the game released now, with the existing issues because I know you'll support the product post-release and I could give a damn that some features may not be ready. So for me, there's no downside to getting it now. But then there's the "whats best for the franchise", and thats where I defer to your better judgement because only you know whether UC is better off releasing "out of the box" more polished with additional development time. Also, if you are navigating the ship manually, the CVD needs to be in VID mode (the gate will be displayed). If the AI is navigating, it doesn't matter if the CVD is in VID mode.

Tons of uses, restaurants, theaters etc. But... One serious downside. Suppose you are in a restaurant and you are jamming and someone doesn't get that emergency call from a loved one. Its one of those things that is 99% a good thing, but that 1% downside disturbs me. I'd rather see restaurants post bouncers that throw out people when their phone rings. Then if its an emergency, they weren't going to stay anyway.

Welcome to the forums. Your questions here are way too vague. I have no idea what you are asking. What scenarios? What campaign? What is happening? etc, etc. What version are you running? You should install the 1.01 patch, followed by the RC7 patch following these instructions.
