Its amazing we can still get data from it, 26 years after launch. Too bad it doesn't have a web cam on it... Oh wait, Al Gore hadn't invented the internet yet.

Aronside, you are way too wordy here. If you want the SC to answer your questions, they have to be succinct, i.e. a single sentence asking a specific question. I think we all have these kinds of questions but if we all asked them, expecting well thought out answers, I don't know if we would ever get our grubby hands on the game. Be patient young man, soon you will be able to explore the game for yourself!

Announcement We go years without a decent free-formed space sim and now it appears we will get two in a month. Go figure. Not that I'm complaining.

One thing I like to do in roam mode is to roleplay. Absent specific missions of the ACM, you might enjoy creating your own role for the career you create. All it takes is a little imagination. For instance, in one of my roam campaigns, I roleplayed that I graduated from the academy and was assigned the short term task of improving the skills of my crew as well as building up enough funds to accomplish my long term assignment, which was to rid the entire Terran quadrant of star stations hostile to Galcom.

Ok, just for completeness in case the SC wants to update the manual revisions doc since I'm sure he has nothing better to do these days. BCM Gold manual, 7.17 Enter/Leave A Planet (p.144) second paragraph: "If you want to enter a planet at a precise location, you have to go to TACOPS and set a waypoint for your CC. Upon planetfall, the craft will be directly above that waypoint. This is because waypoint 1 is always the planetfall location. If there is no waypoint, the planetfall location will be selected at random."
-
quote: Just checked in game. With no previous waypoints set the CCenters atmosphere at a default 00,00 on the planetary map. It is not random. Then the manual is wrong. Cringe. I don't have it in front of me but I'm pretty sure it states that entry is random if no waypoint is set. The section that talks about "Entering a planets atmosphere" or something similar.
-
quote: I entered Earth with no waypoints set and I did a shift-E to land. I ended up landing in water. Your CC enters the atmosphere above the first waypoint so if you enter with no waypoints, I believe your entry point is random. Moral of the story? Set at least one waypoint when entering a planet's atmosphere.

Here's hoping that the Iraqis can ensure there own security sooner rather than later.

Check the BC Legacy discussion board. All BC3K questions should be posted there.

quote:I now know not to leave for a space walk while in orbit, otherwise ships, space stations, or whatever are going to leave my butt behind. You can always go into tacops and command your CC to come back and get you. Thats the cool part of BCM. There's almost always a way out of a jam and often more than one way.

There are a TON of screenshots but the best way to understand how UC will play is to play one of the Battlecruiser games, preferably Millennium (original or gold). Why not download the BCM demo? Anything you learn from playing BCM will give you a jumpstart with UC.

I'm sticking with the catalyst 3.6 drivers for now. It seems the 3.8 version is buggy. I'm sure the SC would know better what the issues are with the 3.8 drivers but this wouldn't be the first game that has issues with them (Call of Duty comes to mind).

I have a 9800 Pro running on an Asus P4PE on one of my rigs. No problems at all. Maybe there is an issue with a certain Asus motherboard but I hardly believe it would blanket ALL Asus boards. The specs on these boards, even from a single manufacturer, vary greatly from board to board.

Why not do some trade runs with your CC. Buying from low inflation stations and selling to a high inflation station. I like to trade between Saron and Majora because the inflation differential is 40% and they are only 3 or 4 jumps away from each other. Also, when you can afford the new tactical computer, realize you cannot replace it at the station. Only your system engineers aboard your CC can do replacements.

Welcome to BCM! Its textures, not tectures. You should fix your title so that anyone searching the forum will find this thread. Have you run through the "video issues" section of the FAQ? Your solution might be there.

The game does not use Newton's laws of physics. quote: I am not saying this is a bug, but for a ÔÇ£space simulatorÔÇØ, it is not correct. What you mean here, is your idea of what a space simulator should be.

I just came from an EB to get a copy of Call of Duty and there in the used area, was a boxed copy of Hardwar. It complemented my CoD purchase nicely because its $0.49 price tag brought my CoD purchase (incl tax) to an even $53. It never would have caught my eye if I hadn't read this thread. Sooo, thanks!

The Catalyst drivers have been pretty solid lately although I've heard issues with the last couple of revisions (3.7 with Homeworld 2 and 3.8 with Call of Duty). But who knows, I also heard these issues are with certain motherboards, i.e. Nforce 2. I'm sticking with 3.6 for now. I've had zero problems running on a 9800 Pro.

X2; The Threat rolling demo out
Spindoktor replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in PC Gaming & Technology
For those interested in this game, here is some good info. in the form of beta reports. Since its coming out (11/10) in the US before UC, I'll be picking this up. It certainly sounds good from these reports. -
quote: Is it possible to download the English version of the "KEYBOARD COMMAND SHEET". No. quote: An other question I have is how I can send the other shuttleÔÇÖs to a planet and let the mining drone collect ore. I can launch one shuttle with my AE and start the mining and I can also launch the other SC but how to let them go the planet/moon to start mining I donÔÇÖt know. Use the search feature and you will find lots of info. under "mining". Here is a nice thread on mining

Whichever shortcut you plan to use to start the game.
-
quote: i dont get the part ofedit the shortcut and add /n as the shortcut perameters What part don't you get? You right click on the shortcut, left click on properties, and edit the target field so it reads like this: "C:Program FilesDreamCatcher3000ADBattlecruiser Millennium Goldbcm.exe" /n This assumes you installed the game to default directory of your c drive.

quote: There is already a war stories thread. There's a whole board dedicated to player fiction, "Roleplaying discussions"! EDIT: Ummm, there's also a thread right here like 4 threads down. It even has "War stories" in its title!
