  1. Quote Commander ZIX: quote:I. Does the single player game co-incide with the internet multiplay? It will be the same executable/program, if that's what you ask. But mp will be enabled by a patch AFTER the game has been released. quote:II. Is the end result going to have a bridge that looks cool like the screenshot I saw in the manual? You like it? Ok, who am I to argue? It will be even better, IMO. Quote Epsilon 5: quote:If you played Dark Reign, it's kinda like the Dessicator in the singleplayer introduction video. Actually, guess who's staring in BC3K's introductionary movie. But too bad it never really arrived at it's own party. [[EDIT-IN: It did, been a while since I saw it completely ]] And contrary to what the movie may make you to believe, it's not a weapon on an interceptor. Or I got all wrong impression of it. 2. Ehm, have you considered raising shield?
  3. I vote for Parias' with his radio-active Garden Gnomes
  4. Ok, here we go again, just like that crazy high inflation thing down at Actis-IV, Eltin Starbase. Remember? Survival of the fittest. That timestamp is what I have, 41521kb is what I have, but those last 3 numbers in the size ain't it. I made a file list of the whole game folder and it's subfolders, before I did anything else. Here's an excerpt for the ANIM folder. code: Map van C:RicoBC3000ADANIM. . .. 3KLOGO ANI 1.400.233 03-08-98 2:00 3KLOGO.ANI BCINTRO ANI 42.516.927 03-08-98 2:00 BCINTRO.ANI CREDITS ANI 6.582.784 03-08-98 2:00 CREDITS.ANI BAY20 SMK 1.369.736 03-08-98 2:00 BAY20.SMK BAY21 SMK 2.133.732 03-08-98 2:00 BAY21.SMK BAY22 SMK 2.201.372 03-08-98 2:00 BAY22.SMK BAY31 SMK 271.792 03-08-98 2:00 BAY31.SMK BAY32 SMK 268.152 03-08-98 2:00 BAY32.SMK BAY33 SMK 261.592 03-08-98 2:00 BAY33.SMK CLOGO SMK 28.964 03-08-98 2:00 CLOGO.SMK DOCK0 SMK 971.704 03-08-98 2:00 DOCK0.SMK GCLOGO SMK 37.476 03-08-98 2:00 GCLOGO.SMK LOCTRAN1 SMK 186.276 03-08-98 2:00 LOCTRAN1.SMK LOCTRAN2 SMK 328.040 03-08-98 2:00 LOCTRAN2.SMK LOCTRAN3 SMK 313.216 03-08-98 2:00 LOCTRAN3.SMK LOGOC SMK 25.172 03-08-98 2:00 LOGOC.SMK MENUTRAN SMK 301.652 03-08-98 2:00 MENUTRAN.SMK ROOM1 SMK 429.224 03-08-98 2:00 ROOM1.SMK ROOM2 SMK 229.228 03-08-98 2:00 ROOM2.SMK 19 bestand(en) 59.857.272 bytes. 5. I don't think anything went wrong with download or install on my end. The file I downloaded from Fileplanet (blue yonder mirror) had the exact same size as their download page states: Size: 140.789.797 bytes. And after a complete de-install, manual remove of remaining folder, letting my system take a breath, and finally a fresh install, the same (bad) size of the intro file, 42.516.927 bytes. If there's something wrong somewhere, it didn't start on my end. SC, you might want to inform with Fileplanet if they have the same sizes as you have/had. I consider also the possibility there is some kind of strange bug in the installer code. Screwing up extraction(?) to some limit. But you might just consider this a proverbial goose chase. I don't know, I can help myself fixing it(as above). The game's code seemed unaffected, as I was able to run it. But who says all the code has been run in those 10 minutes I played. Anyway, I'll take the gamble. Apart from owning 2 boxed versions. But that's not what it is about. I'm done
  6. There's this thing called cache, or Temporary Internet Files that could trouble your glasses. OMG page 5!! [ 07-25-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  7. nope, their remains, or spirits (depends on your religious view), are waiting (in the form of DNA records) in the medibay for you to clone them. Or actually, the Med. officer does that. [ 07-25-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  8. Ok, then it sounds like something did go wrong during download or instal. The original intro did start normally, but ended abruptly during the asteroid swarm scene. Some error message with numbers appeared. Can't remember. Better get the big one downloaded again then, I suppose. [ 07-25-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  9. copy/paste http://www.geocities.com/badgerius/gammalogo.jpg into your location bar, that should get you to it.
  10. nope, not online, but offline in Corel Photopaint it's pretty cool p.s. Badgerius. You are on geocities. Geocities doesn't like other sites to sneak files from it. Have the same myself, the fleetdatabase can't get my mugshot from my Geocities page. Downloading the picture to disk should work ... if you have an app that digs a .jpg [ 07-25-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  11. Ehm, let me please state I have never touched the win version. (as part of the freeware release) I wasn't quite happy with some of the key controls missing, at the time of SC first release of the win verison. I suspect it is still the same as then. I only worked with BC3K.BAT.
  12. Well, for starters, GalcomHQ would be one of the worst places to sell something. If you checked the infopage on tradcom, you'll notice it has an inflation level of 0%. It doesn't get any lower than that. So if you want better profits, seek ya customers elsewhere. It may have to take a few jumps through the Terran quad, but one-run profit can lead up to 66%. (excluding operating costs) Anything better is in unfriendly territory. Buying at GalcomHQ is a very good one, and you allready found my favourite, deflector arrays. Take up the least space for every buck it costs. Have you also noticed why deflector arrays are a good buy at GalcomHQ, and why, ie supportcraft spareparts are a bad buy overthere? I guess, otherwise you werent trading medibays and launch arrays on the other end. Profit has all to do with seeking the right place for the right item. There's an appendix to the manual that can tell you the inflation that goes with the place. Economy is the name of the game. And a topic in the tips section that I made that describes the price system in bc3k. Dig and ya shall find. While it may not be an easy thing for just starting, you might want to try and put some mining drones on the surface. It takes a while to reap profits, but it is sure for free. Oh yeah, you want the upgrades. 35 mil should be more than enough for that. check the manual for those.
  13. ok, now that's funny. Different sizes. I have just started the game for the second time, and it's no joke. My original file and absense of the /d1 parameter causes the insert-cd roadblock, but having cut the bcintro file 98 bytes shorter makes it disappear. I have no idea why your intro is different in size. Unless you are looking at the wrong numbers. For example WinMe here reports two sizes in the properties window: "Size" (42.516.927 original install) .. and "Size on disk" (42.532.864 original instal). Not sure why the difference, but I expect something to do with the filesystem. Just for curiousity, what was your OS? In any event, I suggest cutting or adding the appropriate amount of bytes off/add to the neccesary files. NO guarantees that my idea/solution works.
  14. I HACKED IT!!!! Check the size of your BCINTRO.ANI. It's 98 bytes longer than the size SC stated. (Or I have a bad install, my nose!) So, I cut it off and guess wat? Besides some text during startup telling there is something wrong with the movie part, the game still starts. Perfectly If you want to cut those 98 bytes too? Backup the movie, and use a hexeditor of some sort. I used this one: Hex Workshop Mark the first 98 bytes (text section, 6 lines + 2 on the next), and press delete. And save to BCINTRO.ANI. But even opening in Wordpad should do the trick, I think ...with your system having it's tongue hanging out panting . And you have to count the bytes manually. My BCINTRO.ANI is 42.516.927 bytes long. here's my bc3000ad.ini code:[bC3000AD] ;cdrom drive letter. Set by INSTALL or if user relocates game after install cdrom=C:RICOBC3000AD ;Home directory. Set by INSTALL or if user relocates game after install home=C:RICOBC3000AD ;current game version. Usually updated by install and patch updates version=2.09 + map pak ;installation type. Full, Medium, or Small install=Full ;location of PTE config & texture files. If blank, Home directory is searched ptefiles=bc3lib3.res ;Installed language language=english And my BC3K.BAT code:@echo off REM /d1 = debug mode (if enabled in distribution. Also required to bypass CD check) REM /n = do not play intro REM /v? = display list of 2D video cards supported in native mode REM /v1 = play it safe and use VESA mode REM /vn = use specific 2D video card where n=card num displayed in /v? REM use /v1 for VESA mode if card not supported directly REM /g = run 3DFX Glide version (v1.07C or higher) bc3000ad /v1 [ 07-25-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]

  16. Yes, looks very good. Had to get used to the new gold-ish color, but it works very well on those links, cool
  17. quote:The space sim we are playing is about dead... Ok, just for our amusement, ... which superduped intense, mindblowing graphics, 'impossible AI', massive multiplayer online game are you playing that is going to bite the dust.
  18. I'm afraid that PCX file isn't a PCX file. I can't have any PCX capable app to open that darn thing. It's corrupt somehow.

  20. Get rid of the bridge graphics (the chairs hanging in the air) by pressing F1, and see what disappears too. Press F10 and be happy.
  21. Checked http://www.dictionary.com quote: leg┬Àa┬Àcy (lg-s) n.pl. leg┬Àa┬Àcies 1.Money or property bequeathed to another by will. 2.Something handed down from an ancestor or a predecessor or from the past: a legacy of religious freedom. See Synonyms at heritage. That last word explains it pretty clear for me. Stuff that is left over from the past perhaps? [ 07-24-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]

  23. You know what? He can have it. He's obviously in it for our agravation. No wonder checking this forum for our discontent with the situation. I'm not going to invest in his pleasure any longer. If he wants to wreck something. He'll have to BUILD IT first. AW is fun, but not enough to pay for a membership. Not to me anyway. Sorry fellas, just my take on this.
  24. What kind of cheats are talking here? If we talk about cheats here, then they are (offline) modifications to a savegame. (ie add artifacts to your cargobay, add specific person to your BC, set all crew AI to 100%) If you mean you can choose a career, or more precise, choose your caste, then that's just a standard free-flight game with a bit more scripting work added to it. (just one line) As for tacscan not going back after SUL. I think you are doing this when you are planet-side, right? Well, you''re not supposed to be there with your BC. The BC was never designed to go planetside, eventhough it can. If it can doesn't mean it's systems will function properly. It should work perfectly spacebound. All the cheats, GBS etc, are already part of the v2.09 freeware distribution. There is nothing to download. So, don't send them to the downloads page. Just tell 'em to RTFD [ 07-24-2001: Message edited by: Supreme Cmdr ]
