  1. Let me first start with reporting back in. Been away for week and a half. Sorry for no notice. /RP Had to stay cloaked for the whole time being. ... Green as ZÔÇÖtar Ka-Hi of the Kandorian Military and bald as Starfire if you know what I mean. So better not come close ... RP/ (feeble attempt to hide he has absolutly no excuse at all) I've been wondering about the folowing thing quite some time. Here's an excerpt of an email I got that says something about it: code:Date: Mon, 19 Feb 2001 16:05:07 -0800 (PST) Subject: Communication from Supreme Commander Smart From: Supreme Commander Smart Justin has finished with the Fleet DB modification. The Fleet DB now has the ability to send email to ALL members of a fleet. Only Fleet Commanders have this ability which is accessible via the Send Comms link in the fleet menu tab. Personnel with admin Security Level 4 access also have the ability to send email to ALL members of ALL fleets. Fleet Commanders, ensure that the email addresses for all members are up to date if you intend on using this facility. Commanders with invalid email addresses will not receive email notification. Supreme Commander After this I got emails from several fleets as if I was part of them. Appearantly my adress wasn't filtered correclty from the database or something. But that's not my point. My point is, why don't we have an email comm-line like this? That way we could notify every used-to-be-active member of a roll-call coming up and tell them they're put on the side track if they don't show up. [ 08-09-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  2. Yeah, looks great, but.... Aren't we supposed to orbit the moon with Genesis? hint, hint, nudge, nudge.
  3. Best way to shorten a long (planet side) trip is to go into space again, fire up tacops, set a waypoint at your destination on the planet, log off tacops and kick in the AP/AI. It should re-enter and have you end up almost on top of your destination. But that was probably not your intention in the first place. [ 08-09-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]

But GalcomHQ and one Gammulan station somewhere (and their accompanying starbases ofcourse) have the lowest prices for AD items compared to anywhere in the entire galaxy (in a fresh game anyway). And other type items are only 22% more expensive. I couldn't consider Galcom the worst place to start from. Admitted, some nearby stations sell the other types of items somewhere in between that. You just have to know what to get where and where to drop what off. Check my old treasure for a clarification on BC3k's trading principle. (but forget the last part of that topic) quote:Only now I wish I could get the artifact upgrades, but I'm not sure how you get them in Free Flight mode. Artifacts are not available in free-flight. Except for the HSD that you get if you run in debug-mode. Also, you can introduce them into the game by using the playmod cheats. BUT, that may lead to corrupt games eventually. Use at your own risk. Not to mention it is considered 'faul play' by many. [ 08-10-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  5. I realise this is in essence off-topic, I just felt like pointing out the obvious: While I was ROTFLMSAO about this Janatorial Fleet thing, let's not forget that new fleets are a No-Go until the SC says so. And he didn't say anything about it just yet, so make sure you have a clean record and mop it out of your sigs, gentlemen. [ 08-09-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  6. Since GCO will be a persistant universe, I don't see why you can't have your own treasure cave on a distant far-away planet, moon or asteroid and drop things there. You just have to make sure nobody is following you. *walks around in his birthtown* [ 08-09-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  7. If US television series dubbed with german language don't sound bad and silly enough, should BC3K have that fate too? (rethoric question, no answers needed) But I guess I should be happy you're only asking for a BC fan-site. Not like you're asking for german BC voiceFX. I'll shut up. Forget my personal feelings. Earthcom has a german hosted site, ... or atleast, the url ends with .de But I suspect with certain certainty they don't have any walkthroughs or tips and stuff in german. Karl Wolf (earthcom fleetleader??) is german, so maybe he can help you. And Prime Fleet's fleetleader Thomas Siemens is also german, if they don't respond by themselves you can try emailing them. Press on the face and question mark picture next to the date- and timestamp of any of their posts to (possibly) get their email adress. With your question this thread is turning off-topic a bit so this is where I'll end.
  8. quote:Where do you think I live, on the moon???What do you need a backyard on the moon for? ... Besides shuttles or BCmk3s? Please don't say "moon-flowers". [ 07-29-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  9. quote:...send a shuttle and buy some Bugnor OTS, which are even more compact then deflector arrays if you use a shuttle.Sorry, CERTAINLY not true. Don't know how you figured that out. Have you checked the "Trade appendix S"? Divide the price colum by the CDISP colum. Which comes down to the item value per unit of used cargospace (ie Nutripacks use the smallest possible unit of space: 1 CDISP). If you have the money, you can put 80 OTS Bugnors in a shuttle (worth 400 Mcred at the universe standardprice), compared to 1000 deflector arrays (worth 500 Mcred). Sure, have it your way, forget about that extra 25% shuttle 'coin-carrying' efficiency. But it's ok, it even took some long-time vets years to figure that out. My tip: Forget about how many actual credits the difference is, divide sell price by buy price, multiply by 100, deduct 100 from that figure, that's your profit in percentages of buy price. (or profit in percentages of investment, or performance, or just the extra money you just made ... in a percentage ofcourse ) Second tip: If you didn't buy those items (as in debris field scooping), have a look at the "type" colum in the trade appendix, and then look for those 2-character acronyms in the Navchart.pdf appendix (E). That's the place NOT (really) to sell them. [ 07-29-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  10. quote:I just love being able to jump in my shuttle I keep in the back yard and go blast away some Gammulans With what? Pea-shooter? Shuttles don't have any offensive systems, .... not even flares. Swap those crafts around, works better that way. .... unless that was the punch line. [ 07-29-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  11. quote:BCM only has a HUD view, as seen in the demo. Not to mention the zillions of screenshots you made. ... In case his system is not up to specs.
  12. ok, for those who stumble upon it later, checkthis thread, as it explains how to get rid of debug-mode alltogether.
  13. Yeah, that cures the 'little' bugger. But you just triggered my nit-picking mode. It's a 98 bytes discrepancy, unless my calculator can't count. Movie runs perfect after patch. ... Now, where is that recent thread that asked about RANDOM, made a mistake there.
  14. check the CDrom thread for a solution to go without debug mode. As that's what gives FC&C.
  15. quote:where do you get the info on how many fighters a carrier can hold at one time or how many ships you can command in a fleet? There is a pack of appendices to the manual of BC3K. One of them holds the craft statistics and another holds the statistic on stations and bases. DO realise that that info is likely not to apply to BCM as it could cause(/has caused) playbalancing problems. It's just to get an idea of things. I think it's unlimmited, how large your fleet can be. They are not really assigned to you. You can launch them from a station and they just take your command orders. ANY craft that caries the same race/caste designation will take your order. Do they execute it like you want it? That's quite another. [ 07-27-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  16. Episode 1 did have the pilot sound FX that episode 2 didn't have. If you wanted that you needed to copy that folder [ 07-27-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  17. Fishing? Hey, with all those trees and lakes we really can start a real cookout/campfire. And about those tree sceneries, love to go sniping out there. [ 07-26-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  18. quote:Am I blind and retarded?Nope, perfect vision. Cause BCM hasn't got one yet. You'll have to do with BC3K's PDF manual and the readme html-file. Frames per sec? Your options screen should have a key assignments page. You have to be in FP mode and come up real close to it, (and the pilot seat being available in it) Or pilot it as it is launched. Can't switch to it like BC3K's "ghostly possesed"-way. quote:Point me in the right direction and I swear I will never ask another stupid question for at least a week. You'll be one of the few.
  19. You would have been better off had you delivered them at Genesis orbiting the moon. (chuckles for knowing the secret formula)
  20. quote:They are all in the galley. Ok, guess I had a bad hunch. ... funny hunch, lunch ... Just got the impression fatigue skyrocketed and health values dropped like a brick. Good to know they are only hungry. On the otherhand, with all of them in there, most likely situation for an errupting food fight. What acronyms? EVA? : Extra vehicular activity, LOL? : Laughing out loud. [ 07-26-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  21. I suggest you do a complete re-install and see if it happends again the same way.
  22. quote:... But is says that the medical officer is unavailable even though he is there. ... O-oh, have your engies check your cloning module, ... made a mistake in the XX/XY chromosome sequencing, I think. Should be a she. (but give them a break, in light of your problem ) quote: My whole crew's fatigue factor is at 100% and are now loosing health. I have them all off duty and even had my ship repaired a couple times to waste time making repairs but the ff stays the same at 100%. I have looked in the docs and haven't seen anything yet about diseases and the sort. So I sent the whole crew to the medibay to be treated or vaccinated.Ship-wide loss of life? Sounds like the craft is not capable of supporting life ... (gasps heavily for air) #$^@$&, (cough) which JACKASS-marine plugged all those aircovents... ... Ehm, I'm getting too cold, sir ??? Resnig???, and why are you walking around with that re-breather mask? GIMME THAT!!! I should have known it was you. ... There!, that corridor, on the left, there's your chamber, it even has independant warm air supply (evil grin on my face and hand on EVA controls)
  23. If I may speak in SC's defense. ... Like he needs it. If you expect to get a flamewar from the beginning, then that's all you can see. I have not in ANY sentence seen the SC get personal towards you. Perhaps towards that cards manufactorer support department, but those were personal feelings about their way of doing business. Nothing had to do with you. Unless you feel sorry for your vid card. Please. I suggest you reconsider your attitude, before he does what he's scrutinised for. Banning people for making unneccesary trouble. [ 07-26-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]
  24. Feature wishlist for GBS-II may allready closed, if there ever was one. But I'd still like to propose a small addition to extending gameplay. To have people in suspense when playing ACMs. What I have in mind is a "random" command like any programming language has. That generates a random number, possibly between a specified limit. This command is to be regarded like any other number, but only computed at runtime. The main purpose I have for it is to script truely random events. For example randomly timed. With the original ACMs in mind, once a mission starts you know when the next begins. (add setup, main and resolve fase and there you have it) What if the player doesn't know when the next begins? As far as I've dug into the GBS-I docs there is no such a thing at the moment. There are many things going on in BC3K that are chosen at random (ie random AG AI skills, random race/caste selection), but nothing that you can specify to BE random. And perhaps related to this, SC have you considered adding arithmetic operators and numerical variables to GBS. To support the logical descision with IF/THEN/ELSE/ENDIF. I'm not asking for it's implementation. I'm sure it's another complexity factor one doesn't like to put development time in. But there's allways a hint.
  25. Please forgive me, was thinking capital ships, like a BC. You know, allmost made an all-nighter. Wasn't using my brains. (hides behind a bulkhead)
