quote:and if my memory serves SC decided not to implement it in BCM... Not YET, or did he allready come down from that decision too. Maybe I have missed that. Last thing I heard was he said that it was supposed to come as part of the post-release (multiplayer) patch.

Stop it Charles, you're embarrasing me. If I didn't have Navchart.pdf close by I wouldn't know what to do too. Check this one, which is mine. Or the shorter, more condensed version, which is this one from Riga. He based it on mine and made it for his new Indie trade-organisation. [ 10-08-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]

I could be mistaken, but wasn't ISS based in Saturn? And isn't that technically part of the Sol-system? Where Jerold is actually performing out his orders, I don't know. (can't keep up with everyone, can I) Just a wild guess it's close to base. But my main reason for using the word "Sol" was teasing a bit, meaning the abreviation of sol-itary. Sorry it didn't come across. my bad. I said he was 'supporting'. Maybe it's just me but that can be quite a few things. Logistic, defense, relief efforts, intelligence. All tasks of the In-System Support fleet, not?

Roll call thread has a temprary effect I think. If MIA/AWOL people do notice it then they might post to it. But I doubt that they'll stick around long enough. But perhaps they will now since BCM is just around the corner.

I think he can't handle the workload all by himself. Supporting Sol

Question on retriving target ship's cargo
Rico Jansen replied to IceCold's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
Actually, that was me asking. And for the perfect reason, I see. You can't steal someone's cargo if you have Fleet Command & Control, which is hardwired when you have debug mode enabled. But you can deactivate it if you fix the corrupted intro movie (wrong size failed the cdrom check). The patch for that is on the download site where you got the game from. Oh boy, I think we have a new Newby Classic Question for the list. [ 09-30-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ] -
Even 2.9 b4 didn't solve it. But then I found this in the RAR FAQ from www.rarsoft.com: code:Q: When I download a RAR archive using Netscape Navigator or communicator, the file is corrupt, what's wrong? A: Apache HTTP server erroneously reports the RAR archive type as text/plain and as a result, Netscape Navigator/Communicator treats the file as plain text. To prevent this happening, those webmasters, who use Apache, should create .htaccess file in each directory which has RAR archives and add the following string to it: AddType application/x-rar-compressed rar If .htaccess already exists, this string should be added to the already existing file. IExplorer had no problem. 5 tga's, right?

Fleet Discussions
Rico Jansen replied to Supreme Cmdr's topic in General Multiplayer Fleet Discussions
Remo!!! That's Velari!! The SC is allready on his toes. Now, quick, before he wakes up. BTW, 20:00, that's early for his doing, ... erhm, he is asleep isn't he? [ 09-30-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ] -
Question on retriving target ship's cargo
Rico Jansen replied to IceCold's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
Hold on guys, safe yourself some time by asking if his intro video ended properly. (IceCold???) -
I know this doesn't lead to understanding why this happend. But which medal(s) did you recieve?

quote:I just downloaded and unRar'ed it just fine with WinRar 2.90 Beta 2 Hmm, I have 2.80, that's probably the reason. Time to update. Urza: There's a tga picture in it. You'll have to find a viewer for it. As it's not a very commonly used format. [ 09-30-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]

Since you know where I was getting at, Jeffery, perhaps you can help me enlighten myself. Because of the considerable length and diverse discussion, I'm totally mistaking the forrest for the trees. Or whatever way that goes. Got lost on where you are heading at and comming from. Are you fleshing out GFH or Intercorp? Just the mercenaries or the whole caste-shjabang? Also I think you're doing the top-down approach, while i'm expecting a bottom-up one.

Perhaps fooled around with playmod?

SC! That RAR file seems to be corrupt. WinRAR reports: "! C:Ricomy junkcgw_article.rar: Unexpected end of archive"

Weed allways grows back. Well, not only weed, any object would in time. Not sure how long though, 2 hours is my guess. Destroying Pixan/Lennen is a waste I think. It's the bottleneck/crossingpoint of Sol, Barnard's Star and Polaris system trafic. Strategic position if you ask me. p.s. The topic title doesn't reflect your question. Strange. Free flight will only end when you die/are discharged due to a courtmartial. (too many violations) Or power outage. [ 09-30-2001: Message edited by: Rico Jansen ]

Jeffery, either you haven't played bc3k (then you should atleast have read it's manual), or you are joking. Funny enough I had a lecture at school yesterday about a (possible) future occupation with KLM (royal dutch airline) in their maintenance/overhaul department. Since I'm less than one year off from graduation I was wondering the last few weeks in howfar September 11th had an effect on my future. They showed how the (aircraft maintenance) market looked before and after September 11th. They compared the effects of events of the 11th with Tjernobyl and the Gulfwar. Both had a serious effect on the world economy and the airline business in particular. The world took one year to recover from Tjernobyl, and about 1.5 from the Gulf War. Most probably the 11th will have a lasting effect for over 2 years. (at least for airbusiness) Then it should go back into a growth in airline maintenance business. So I'm not so sure if I agree with Fendi. But it's not bad forever. Something I was almost sure of before this lecture. Maintenance is not my calling. I'm more of a theoretical guy, and have more interest in space age than aircraft business. But aircraft are more readily available at your nearest airport. So that's probably where I'll be somehow. With how many mouths to feed? Will need to start from scratch first.

Why focus this force on the protection of Traders only? Is any harmless caste not more appropriate? Also, quote:If the Trader vessel refuses to respond, the officer is obligated to remove the vessel by force by using a tractor beam or even weapon fire. Isn't it there on it's own risk. If it does not desire to leave after having been warned of it's risk, then so be it. I'd say.

Well, hit me hard if it's dumb...
Rico Jansen replied to seacow's topic in Battlecruiser 3000AD (Legacy)
Appearantly the SC moved that file to another place, so the link went dead. Use the link the SC provided. But since you implied you have the freeware version, search your bc3k folder for the files. Computer going laggy is most surely happening at T+10 mins. It's the moment when all (non-ACM) NPCs (hundreds I think) are automatically created. Totally natural behaviour. Training scripts, there are two Cmdrs that have made their scripts public. One is of Gallion (Insurgent ACM) and the other is from Pugwash(convoy script). Both should be attainable by link in the GBS section somewhere. We're either playing tricks on our minds (and SC's ) or playing bc3k 2.09. BCM in the next few weeks or so. -
Pugwash is right. Please disregard my comments/hint on the Starball rescue. I don't know what I've been smoking when reading the script. But it must have been heavy. (but I promise I never inhaled) You probably have playing the intro movie disabled somehow. There is a setting in the config page to change that if you will. Or perhaps it is not played due to a command line switch in bc3k.bat. (or bc3k3dfx.bat)

Your ship is preparing to hyperjump. But then you abort the procedure and the ship stays in the same state (speed). Don't think too much of it. You just can.
