Not at all fantasy , Patternmaster and Wild Seed are very well written sci-fi novels by Octavia Butler. She mixes history , myth and fantastic elements in an engaging style and I can almost see some anime like themes in her stories(normal people who have unlocked superpowers with the fate of the world in the balance)check them out.

One of the coolest things about these games and this community is the direct participation of the SC. This was my first experience with a forum and with computer gaming and I was welcomed and given lots of assistance and shown lots of patience. While I still have difficulties playing BCM as opposed to BC3000 I still love it and will keep playing till I'm good or it kills me(or in this case my AE) However I have noticed a conspicuous absence of original SC posts. Although I am still jealous of his dashing good looks , his Mercedes his plush home in a gated community and for my wife's insistence he's a "damn fine lookin man.."(see my Mack Daddy SC post from last year), I miss his presence on the boards. I think the everincreasing partisan *****ing and moaning has driven him away and that kinda bothers me. Sometimes I would just like to chuck all the rhetoric and have some fun on this forum again.Everybody LIGHTEN UP! I know times are rough but as much as we like to think so not one problem is gonna be solved by my rants or one $ilk's or Jag's longwinded well written polemics. I'm an XBox guy myself but I had the same problem with the original playstation. the first time I shipped it off to be repaired and after nearly two months it came back and worked for nearly six months. I replaced it by buying a new one which had by then gotten smaller(improved electronics) which lasted about 8 months. It refused to load any games and off it went back to sony. It is okay now but I've had the XBox and don't play it even though I have about fifty titles for PSOne. I didnt even consider buying a PS2 when they came out but that's just me.

As usual the Fox nailed it. Let's get on with the investigation and let the families mourn without Katie Couric or someother bloodsucker sticking a microphone in thier face.

Finally, a free thinker! You are not the only one on this forum who has had some rough times and I pray that things look up for you. There are those around here who feel anyone unemployed or underemployed is a subspecies too stupid and lazy to work, kinda like when Reagan explained away poverty by saying the people who were hungry "didn't know where the food was"

Where do some of you get off deifying the rich and stereotyping the less fortunate? If I hear one more time about the rich being overburdened or the characterization that ALL poor people are lazy and jobless I'll vomit. So YOU have a job? big deal! so you pay taxes? join the rest of us! You are opposed that others who dont might get a few cents out of every dollar of yours but have NO PROBLEM agreeing with tax cuts that favor the rich(Dividend)in hopes of it trickling down. HOW STUPID CAN YOU PEOPLE BE? We are about to go to war and commit ourselves to th tune of 100 billion dollars and NONE OF YOU EVEN BLINKED at that amount. Add to that tax cuts , the likelyhood gas could go to two dollars a gallon as early as this summer and Bush admitting we will have to tap the Strategic oil reserves since Saddam is likely to set his own oil fields on fire and what do we get? FUBAR! Even Repulican congressional leaders admit the That President Opie's stimulus package probably will not impact the economy in the short term. The war on terror? Some of our strategic cities on the eastern seaboard lack the equipment to deal with any NBC (that's nuclear biological and chemical for you non military types) Hell 44 out fifty states are experiencing unprecednted budget deficits and schools in the northwest are laying off teachers and shortening the school year by a month just to keep the doors open. We dont have the money to protect our own cities but we got 100 billion for Opie's wild goose chase. Remember Bin Laden? the last great Satan? we did a 4-0 job on him didnt we? All that technology and firepower and he slipped out the country using an operative carrying his cell phone making calls to fake out special forces in pursuit. Now I'm still waiting for ANY realistic link to Al-Quaida and I hope there is but I fear its more smoke and mirrors. Lastly its become very popular for people to make disparaging remarks about the cowardly French and the scaredy cat Europeans , but those are easy remarks to make by people who never had a war fought in their front yard , particularly made by some folks here who will be watching it on tv with minimal threat to them. That is cowardly to me. I agree Saddam is a little shit we need to take out but our number one priority? Please fella dont piss down my back and tell me it's raining. I know the difference.

NFL football is an acquired taste as is any of the other sports mentioned. One reason over 500 million people will be watching is football is exciting to watch. Another reason is at one point just about every american male has played the game in one form or another. I played competitively from age 8 till age 24 and I loved it and always will. I don't fault anybody who doesnt like it , to each his own.

I'll go see it for myself. I agree about Kingpin though I like Micheal Clark Duncan but it makes about as much since to make him black as it would to cast Matt Damon as the Black Panther. BTW I saw a trailer on TV for the Hulk and after seeing it there is no way I won't be the first person in line when it comes out. Ang Lee is one of the best directors in the world and it is not possible for him to make a film that will suck as much as Batman and Robin or Superman 4: The Quest for Peace. Mark my words this movie will not suck!

Thanks WeeGee and Gryphon, you saved me the trouble. However you're barking up the wrong tree trying to appeal to DL's sense of compassion;she doesn't have one and doesn't pretend to either. That who she is and though I never have agreed with her I appreciate her because she is consistent and honest. The worst thing about this is that it presupposes that all "poor" people are alike. Untrue. Some work everyday(hence the term 'working poor') and just don't make enough money. The real sad thing is report is inaccurate. It suggests that they are getting fat off of your money, an attempt to demonize the poor. The real truth is our whole society is getting lazier and fatter. Poor people are just easier targets. A more descriptive factor is education level. There is a stronger corelation that higher educated people tend to exercise more than those without higher education. A better fix would be continued education on nutrition and a staggered payment for high fat foods. For example give families bonuses for spending money on healthy foods and penalize them for fatty foods. In a sense this is already being done. My agency has a contract to distibute fruits and vegatables at reduced costs in housing projects. After a slow start , our Farmers's market in the 'Hood has sold more fruit and veggies evry year. People have also utilized reduce costs memberships on neighborhood YMCA's to increase fitness. It is no suprise this came from a Fox news outlet. We all know how unbiased they are.

I have been hearing buzz about this on Aint it Cool for about a year or so. this movie is going to so kick ass. Tarentino has outdone himself unless he screwed up the script since parts of it were posted( Including one of the coolest openings since Raiders of the Lost ArK) Can't wait for this one!

Jag I'm interested on what your views are regarding the destabilization of the Middle east and how you think this affects it. I have never been against getting rid a a little shit like Saddam I'm just more concerned as to how that act will be percieved and just how much of this is a political decision. Iraq will almost certainly attack Israel again and with the present leadership there I doubt they will be able to show the same restraint as in the Gulf War. Once they retaliate what will be the response of all the other Islamic states? Even the moderate ones are under a lot of popular pressure to act against what they see as "genocide" on the muslim world. Syria , Iran and even our "allies" in Yemen , Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are experiencing public protest. Based on this can the US practice containment and wage war and watch the North Koreans as well. Let me know what you think. And oh yeah you do talk down to us..but I 've come to accept that's just Jag.

All I know is a lot of mothers will be burying sons and daughters both American and Iraqi. I saw an interveiw of Iraqi middle school children discussing the impending war. I was struck with how they have resigned that they would probably be dead in a few months regardless of the outcome of the weapon inspection. I only hope in the end it will have been worth it. I hope that that ******* Saddam is dead and that the drum beaters in this country take a break before the next war. I hope that they won't change their target after they find that they couldn't get Saddam AGAIN. I hope that they work harder at cooking up the next boogeyman so even I can get on board with it. And mostly I hope thay come up with a way to really address the issues americans feel are important(hint: It's the economy stupid!), rather than another smoke and mirrors campaign. If the Administration is really worried about WMD do something in N.Korea and stop bullshitting the public.
